Hold on people, I didn't speak to LB- I have texted him back and forth. He's never gone into detail with me about what happened but said that we would talk soon. I know a little bit but really, not much more than I put into the story. I'm not hiding anything and as far as anyone who says we (the mx media) shouldn't report on this move, give your head a shake.

It's arguably the highest profile manager on the circuit on one of the top teams. He was let go (or reassigned) and it's news-like it or not.
Exactly Matthes...So I am almost positive, if you don't know none of the know -it-alls on this board have a clue either.

Skidsteer....any thoughts? Or do you know exactly what happened and are sworn not to tell? Since we all don't know what the hell is going on.

The point of this post was not to demand and answer. I agree, we are not entitled to know every detail of everything that goes on within our sport.

The point was that I think it's disrespectful to the fans to blatantly lie about such a big event. I know they regularly lie about things that, if widely known would give the competition and advantage, such as my bike is working great, I'm feeling healthy, I feel like I can win tonight, etc.

But this has no implication on the competition.

I don't know, is it too much to ask for a simple "no comment" instead of bs?

"He was let go [sic]."

That hadn't been established yet media-wise and dispels the 'family time' reasoning given previously.

Please tell more!

well said, Steve, of course it is the responsibility of the few real press who still exist to ask questions. Have you noticed how many bimbos on forums like this never think anything is real until the propaganda minister of some team/rider/manufacturer puts out a press release which says absolutely zilch of any real interest ? Those sad mother-fuckers who hang on crap like that are the undeniable proof that large numbers of the human race are the least intelligent species on the planet after the amoeba.

" I didnt speak to LB"

"I'm not hiding anything"

From Observations:

"After a few texts and calls, Brooks did finally get back to me"

After a few texts and calls, Brooks did finally get back to me but requested that what was shared between us remain private

So which is it? The I know but I'm not telling you people?

Or

"I'm not hiding anything?"

Well, in the business world, severance packages are often tied the the person keeping their mouth shut about the situation.

That being said, Larry may not be in a position to make public what (if anything I might add) has taken place.

Quite iften all you will hear is "John Doe has left the organization to pursue other interests."

Someone should go dig through Larry's garbage. The truth is always in the garbage.

Whether or not we as fans deserve an explanation is sort of beside the point. It is PR 101 that even in a little piss ant sport like ours, you get out in front of the story and control it. Just a little press release or interview with a vague explanation of what has happened and where things currently stand would eliminate these painful threads on the forums and the comments on the magazine websites. You don't leave room for rampant speculation amongst the masses. Stewart and Brooks have both been PR disasters historically, but I thought with the inclusion of Red Bull on the team they would certainly have someone looking out for the team's PR.

If before the season they would have offered a brief explanation of the ownership change, new sponsors, and new structure of the team, and then with this latest event offered a brief explanation along the lines of "Brooks is taking a step back from his full time managerial duties, replacement to be named shortly", this would be a non-story. Instead, we get evasive, coy, and frankly bullshit explanations that make people want to dig deeper and find out what's really happening. With their silence they have created interest where there might not be anything interesting.

Wait, I just had and idea. I think my Colon Therapist might have access to Larry's medical records. We could easily get all the answers just from his Lipid Panel results.

Stay tuned!

What I don't get is....If James "Bought" the team......Larry wanted to stay.....why in the hell did Larry "Sell" the team?

It seems like if you own the team , and thought you may be pushed out ( why not have it in a contract saying James can't do that?).

See what I'm saying? Why sell the team in the first place if you want to stick around?

Doesn't make much sense.

Only thing I can think of.....is Larry got burned some way or another , and was forced out when he wasn't expecting it.

See jeffro503's post just above this.

And just to keep things in perspective, the "masses" are a pretty small group in this little moto community of ours.

????....Kong?

I'm not being a hater , if that's what you are implying....maybe I read that wrong?

What I was just trying to say is James "Bought something ( a team from the sounds of it ) , and I just wanted to know why Larry sold it in the first place.

"Maybe" James bought the team from Larry , because Larry wanted to step away possibly?

"Maybe" Larry sold the team to James , and had figured on James keeping him around.....but then shoved him out the doors?

At this point....who knows?

On the flip side....if James does own 100% of the team.....he can do anything he wants with it.

I guess the only thing we really don't know here is.....did Larry leave on his own.....or did James force him out expectantly?

You know what is another "Angle" to look at this from??

Malcom is just coming into his own right? I'm just wondering if maybe James is in the early beginnings of starting the team to support his little brother for the next 8-10 years?

"Stewart racing" or something like that?

It is odd.....that all this is starting now.....when Malcom turns pro.....and has really shown some speed and skill on that bike as well.

Hmmm??

Ok? So it was more: "who cares", rather than any future text back and forth with Larry might be in jeopardy?

I know you do more than others, as in giving us info and I honestly dig your work, but do you expect us to believe you are not constantly balancing your friendship with the players vs the "journo" integrity thing?

BTW, you`re right, it could be any of the above. I would like to think that James bought out M in L&M and layed down some new rules and Larry needs time to figure out if he`s up to that. Stuff like that happens every day in hundreds of company`s around the world. It`s really not that big of a deal, it`s just that this sport is so small it`s like family and as soon as something like this happens you look at it as a divorce or youngest son gone crackhead.

My work speaks for itself, it is work balancing everything and I have pissed some friends off from time to time (including Timmy's wife for a bit!) but I try to report on the sport in the best way I know how to. I'll wait and take the info that I know so when this thing develops further, I'll have a better grasp on it.
