I think the “for what” is money.

Banning team personnel for opinions expressed in a private text chat is straight up horse shit but they could have opted to just not race and avoid destroying their equipment if it was that big of a deal to them. I doubt FELD was sitting there with pitchforks forcing them to the gate.

To sum this mess up, Feld has dummied down our sport, treats teams like crap, we have an absolutely horrid production team for tv, the ama can’t make the right decision to save their life, and the earth is flat. Does that sum it all up?

Yes and that all 3 usually find a way to blame the other parties for their own shortcomings.

What money? Chance Hymas, Factory HRC 250 7th place finish, $2,550 for Saturday. What do you think that covers for the weekend? Maybe his per diem for the weekend? I dont feel bad for the factory teams, but look at all the smaller teams. Without them there would be no show and they cant ruin 50-100K worth of bikes in a weekend.

That’s accurate. And, the beatings will continue until industry and fan morale improves.

Can we just call a spade a spade, and admit that SMX is a complete failure and waste of time?

Tracks and locations were not what was promised, and even people who care about Moto are not watching when there is College Football on a Saturday in the fall. There are better things to watch and do. Ill tune back in when its Anaheim 1.

Yes we can.

Watch football over dirtbike racing? Even a lesser form of MX/SX is better than watching men roll in the dirt together.

Not to be rude but I think you should sit this one out if you’re too ignorant to know that the end goal is the money that gets payed out for the whole series which is significantly more than the purse for a single race.

I'll just leave this here.

The whole purpose of the group text was/is to have an open communication between the AMA/Feld/MXSports and the team managers. It was agreed to be a proactive communication source not a bitch session and they were all told that if it turned into that they would lose their privilege to being in the chat....with that said I for the life of me can't figure out why we would even think of going to Columbus in a 20.000 seat stadium (rain or shine), that's the shit that WSX has done and it's why they are probably done at this point...

Isn’t MX\SX basically men rolling in the dirt together?

I'd say the team managers need to start their own text group.

Maybe the way you ride, but I try to stay off the dirt! I'm old and break easy these days.

Those penalties for private group texts is ridiculous.  The entire point of group texts is to iron things out privately amongst each other.

I’ll just take SMX off my credentialed viewing list for the next 2 rounds.
Screw’em I’m going riding I already know who the champs are this year.

They should re-join the group text with a new name. 😆   Happens on Vital all the time.

lol, so some of the managers had one message vs some having 2 for the number of race suspension?? Did a couple of the managers hurt FELD feelings more to have a stiffer sentence?? Really need to see the rule book for this, besides the vague note in the rule book posted earlier

IF, and that's a big if, the texts were not that egregious as Weege and Matthes said, seeing it written down like that makes it seem like even more of a joke.

Loss of "Team Manager text group privilege"?? This sounds like high school nonsense. Amateur hour.

The guys who play a huge role in these teams get treated like a kid with a phone who said some bad words to his friends over text?

I know there are rumors it will get rescinded, but the damage is done regardless. Whoever made this call is an absolute clown of a "manager" or "director" or whatever his title is.

I don't know man....It's no different than a workplace group chat between different levels that is put in place to help make decisions quicker and keep everyone in the loop and if you went on your workplace group chat and started bitching and complaining in front of all the other members in the chat I'm pretty sure there would be some disciplinary action taken...

The fact that “loss of group text privileges” is in a supposedly serious penalty report has got to be the biggest joke of 2026.  That’s some middle school level maturity right there.

This is a really interesting dynamic. Feld greatly benefits from top teams and riders participating in their races to be successful. The top SMX teams and riders greatly benefit from Feld holding races in the biggest venues around the country to promote their products and be successful. Both could technically try to go on without each other, though they would not be nearly as successful as they are now.

While slightly different, something a little similar happened in professional golf back in the late 60s. I think cooler heads will prevail, but Feld may have opened Pandora's Box in thinking they have all the power here.

Larry Brooks is penalized? A guy who been in the sports for over 40 years as a racer, manager & team owner. Wow! What a weird situation.
