Jett came into the Nats cautiously optimistic. He was pretty transparent about his injury, but brushed aside many comments that it might affect his riding. Then at full pace, he's damn near crawling off the track after some motos. He then begins talking about how he's not training much during the week. Then he comes out and it hurts even MORE. Then we get to the finale, he apparently tweaks it, and is immediately in surgery...and passes on tons of cash with SMX.

1. If we could get a peek into his brain, I bet he's pretty damn nervous. He probably thought he could ride through the remaining pain, but assumed it would get better. It has not. Immediate surgery after season which you know was planned to max his healing before SX. But you KNOW he's quietly nervous with the questions of "What if....it doesn't ever get better".

2. if the moto gods injure him ala Ricky Johnson and he never returns to alien form...well...I'll be really angry for a long time.

I was thinking your last paragraph just yesterday.

I started thinking about the moment I heard of his injury. Then again about a dozen times since. Like at the end of sx when we saw him all limping badly.

Herlings return to form has me optimistic.  Yeah it took him longer but Jett is younger and should recover quicker.

I'm wager Jett knew exactly what he was capable of coming into the season.  He probably had a damn good idea he couldn't do Jett things at will every time he hit the track. Especially practicing with peak Hunter. He probably assumed he would ride into form like he did last summer with his ACL injury

Edit: I feel the same way about being angry if we dont see a close to peak Jett. And I dont mean what he was, I mean what he was going to be! Cause he was going to get better. Our only saving grace if it doesn't happen is Cole Davies on the horizon

When Storbeck landed on his wrist my heart just dropped. Had so much career ahead of him.

Hunter is rumored to thought about giving up due to injuries that plagued him for a couple seasons at least. It took him years, but finally getting fully healed, being able to progress more because of it, and look where he's at.

Roczen is someone who easily could've called it a career. He had countless surgeries. Like 15 or there abouts. Even after all of those, it took him a couple years to gain the strength and form he once had. He actually still has some issues.

If Jett is able to get fully healed, and I mean fully, not rushing back like he did from his knee injury 2 seasons ago, or this ankle injury he came back from for this MX season, he should be able to gain full strength. Hopefully he doesn't rush this, and we see the Jett we all know again.

He was 25 with 7 titles! Such a heartbreaker. If not for the wrist, he might have had 13+ titles and Stanton zero
