i'm too old to even know what that means, but was curious. And don't even get me started on moto-media...

Sad if true.  He and his family are pretty level headed.  If they decide it's time to put a cork in it...it's the right decision.

I've kind of looked at each year since '23 as a bonus. When he first went to Star it sounded like it was already in his mind. Then after a couple tough injuries, it was cool to see that he was determined to come back and give it a run, when healthy. It's very odd how he looked so good early in SX, this year, and then kind of really went downhill and looked lost. Then obviously it was a shame to see him get hurt early in MX this year. He hasn't looked himself, but there was progress here the last couple weeks of MX. What a weird year for him. He deserves to go out however he chooses though. He's 1 of the greats, at this point.

The only one who truly knows is Eli, and he's not made a statement about retiring only that he was SX next year.  We all know Eli isn't leaking shit to Matthes.  So, until Eli or John spill the beans I'll wait.

Regardless he's had one hell of a career.

I think the neck injury made him really realize how much worse it could have been and caused a major rethink.

I do not want to see Tomac or Kenny retire selfishly, but if I were either one of them I would hang it up. You made a lot of money, were successful and are still pretty healthy. Hang it up and spend time with your kids.

Stuff like that is life changing.  It was for me.

Matthes couldn't wait a couple hours for a guy who raced professionally for 16 seasons to announce his retirement?

You guys complain that he isn’t a true journalist reporting on things when he hears them, then when he does he gets crapped on.

Omg 🤦🏽‍♂️
