Too bad they didn't get the Dust Hightail prototype, these lighter bikes (805 is given at 211 lbs / 96 kg, Dust at 235 lbs / 107 kg) still pack decent power (56 hp for the 805 and 42 hp for Dust) and could be really great if they can be priced significantly lower than $12k Varg.

I was surprised at how well the Bonnell MTB did. That thing looks like it would be a ton of fun.  Surprised they were able to do all of the jumps with it. I started thinking about selling my regular EMTB and picking up one of those

The Varg was at a slight disadvantage being set up stiff for Pastrana  and bigger jumps.   It will be more interesting to see what bikes start to show up in future videos on the channel. I'm not sure if TP bought the Varg or how he got his. But he's had one for awhile. Be interesting to see if they end up buying some more of the ones they really liked to add them to the fleet he has.

It was cool to see bikes compared to each other that You would never normally see compared to each other. And the  benefits of electric being a less expensive platform to develop on the lower end bikes is really showing with the crazy amount of bikes available .  Its cool to see so many entry level options that have come out.  It would be cool to see a major brand even take an existing platform , one of the better built mid sized bikes. And rebrand it maybe put a little of their own touch onto it. But then support it with parts in dealers. Something Surron sized and then more of a pitbike size . Kinda like Honda and Grainger have done. I think it could help them bring in new customers and just the support of parts and dealer networks alone would make some of those bikes a better value if they could stay the same price as they are.

Except the price of the Bonnell MTB….ouch…for an MTB.  Spend 2K more and get the 805.  That’s the play!!

There are MTB's that don't have a motor that are over $12K . Its all what the rider is looking for. You can also get a Surron with similar power for less than the Bonnell with pedals.  I feel like for exploring potential riding spots or play riding that would be super fun.  Better chance at not getting in trouble riding it VS a full on MX bike if Your exploring a spot that ends up not being  legal to ride at. And with the right settings it can act like a regular EMTB. So You could get away riding it on the street if You kept to the speeds they limit e assist bikes to.

Its more of a bike that can do many things , but not do them as well as a dedicated bike  for each style of riding.  That's what I like about it. It would be perfect for my private trails . I've never been able to be comfortable on a dirtbike because I'm so much taller than average. On a MTB I've been able to get super comfortable and I  would love to see what a bike that meshes some of what helps me be more comfortable on a MTB together with a throttle would feel like and see how comfortable I could get on one.

I agree that for dirtbike things, get the 805. , but I think I might fit better on the 775 since I can get a bigger frame. And I may even be faster on the 775 on hard pack trails and certain tracks than I would be on an 805. I would really love to get the 775 and a Varg. I rode a varg and loved it. Even thought about buying an Alta I saw used that was listed locally for pretty cheap. Around the price of the 775. But I've been caring for my Mom for a few years and risk of injury held me back, now I'm focused on growing my business back up and holding off on buying any toys for now. But I'll  buy some sort of electric dirtbike in the near future for sure!

Spot on post and I agree with it.

It is kind of funny how the story of Stark has transpired and how the view has changed in such a short window. It started out as a concept and so many said oh it will never compete at the top level, it will be just like the Alta. Then now it is people complaining because they have too much advantage and it is not fair. Wild ride it has been.

Remember all the Vitards shouting ' "vaporware"?

Stark have done what Alta couldn't.

I'll leave this here as well in case anyone is interested in the details.

The WSX regulations for electrics ("equivalence of technologies / balance of performance" in FIM speak) don't appear to have changed from last year, they're available here

https://www.fim-moto.com/en/documents/view/2026-0-wsx-electric-eot-bop-01082026

Here is a print screen of the most relevant section

In short electrics are currently limited in power (44 kW, 59 hp in SX2, 54 kW, 72 hp in SX1), they could later be limited in torque as well, and FIM can adjust such limits whenever they want during the championship, no justifications required and no appeal is possible.

Stark must fit FIM sensors and dataloggers measuring and registering at all times battery voltage (directly between + and -) and battery current (between battery and inverter) allowing them to know power delivered by the battery at every moment of every session (voltage x current = power). It's like they were running a live engine dyno test during every session and race.

Last year at Buenos Aires, Hicks got penalized 5 places in one race (also docked to 4th place in superpole) for exceeding the "0.1 kJ per lap tolerance". With a 55 s lap that was equivalent to an extra 0.002 hp during the lap, or per lap one 0.5 s spike of 0.2 hp, or five 0.1 s spikes of 0.2 hp, or one 0.1 s spike of 1 hp. It probably had to do with whoops or landings, the point is that this demonstrated the intense scrutiny FIM applies to electrics, and that Stark obviously resolved the issue since it only happened at this race.

Full specs of datalogger are here

As for torque, if FIM decided to limit it, since torque of an electric motor is controlled by current, they might not need another compulsory sensor. The way Stark limits its power is likely by reducing current (that's actually the way it is limited in FIM EnduroGP EOT/BOP regulations) which has a direct effect on torque as well. Or they could simply chose to further reduce max power, which would reduce torque as well.

Just found out there are quite a few Varg SM racing in France Supermoto championship.

Adrien Lamour is currently 4th in Elite S1 category (300-750cc) after 4 of 6 rounds.

Race 1 is 15 min + 1 lap, race 2 is 20 min + 1 lap

France SX tour round 2

In SX2 it was an odd day for Hicks who had to go through LCQ after a puncture (both he and his teammate Hsu were the only ones to get out of it). He then proceeded to holeshot (48 hp, no elevation if you're still worried about Calgary) and lead every lap of the main to score his second win in as many rounds. Lopez finished 8th and Hsu 10th.

In SX1 Zaragoza had an average day with 5th OA after being 4th in race 1 then 9th in race 2 after a crash. Irsuti DNF race 1 after only 3 laps and DNS race 2, he dislocated his knee. There was another Stark rider, Fin rider Varjonen in 11th (9 and 12).

Hard Enduro World Championship round 4

Eddie Karlsson got a solid 4th on home soil, this week he's racing Red Bull Tennessee Knock Out (part of the US series).

I dunno, the lack of noise takes away from the whole motorsports ethos.

Can they do something to give the motor a distinctive audable sound? Cant be that hard to do.🤔

Starks have been legal to race in Australia for a while, they've been racing MX, enduro, Supermoto, long track, won VetMX titles... but for some reason AUSX remained the one Australian championship where they were not allowed. Well, until now.

Really great opportunity for Hicks to perfect his art.

FIM Hard Enduro World Championship round 5

Eddie Karlsson had a tough Sunday in Italy with 10th, things got even worse for Toby Martyn with a DNF.

France SX tour round 3

Congrats to Maxime Desprey who is SX1 champion again, he won all races, and won the MX Elite championship as well earlier this year.

Just like last year, Zaragoza ends up 4th in the championship. With 7-4-9-6, he still needs to find something to make a step and become a real contender.

Michael Hicks, on the other hand, remains undefeated in SX2. However the last SX2 round will be at Paris Supercross (usually 2 races so double points on offer), clashing with WSX Australian GP, he might lose the red plate then.
