I lived in Elkhorn Wi when I left Columbus in 2006.  The track was long gone, of course, but I worked with a guy that attended the event.  Pretty cool stories.

I worked for LCL bulk in elkhorn then. I borrowed the tank wash kids scooter & went swimming in lake Geneva & cruised around.we hauled chocolate & veg oils, etc.  we had a lot of candy bars for free . M&m mars in Canada gave us 2-3 34 count of Milky Ways fresh off the line , so much better fresh . Terminal in etown,pa. Too. He knew the smage brothers they practiced trials riding in a pole barn in winter, fast in moto too.

Yeah very cool & in 1970, we need a series like this now.  I,ve been past the Honda hills track , old sign is there yet.  1 of these old tracks there fixing it up to race again in Ohio. Probably for another big vintage race. My 1st mag had the 125 gp at Ohio in 76.  I don’t know what town it was in.

Bittersweet to see that Kawasaki ad featuring Rusty Bradley.  He died the next March on the first lap of the Daytona 200 as he crashed in the first turn heading into the infield.  It was one of the first racing deaths I recall and made quite an impact on 11 year old me at the time.

That would have either been Delta Raceway in Delta, OH or Ohio International Raceway in Ravenna, OH.  Both tracks still hold events.  OIR has a race this weekend!

Cool vintage track vid. I googled where the 76 125 gp was earlier.  Mid Ohio it was sponsored by valoline oil.

Rup,

The series event listing sure got my attention. Event 6B Sacramento event. My dad and I went to that. I have over the years tried to find out the name of the place. White Rock MX Park. It was down the road from where the Hangtown classic at Prairie City is now. We stood up on the road and watched. I remember so may guys on CZs then. I clearly remember them cover a jump straight at us and in the air you could hear them shift down in the air for the corner. What memory for a 14 year old.

I actually got to ride that track on weekend after that. I rode my dad's 1958 BSA Goldstar around that track. At that time I had never kickstarted that bike. I would run-and-bump it because it was to hard to kick and had a hell of a kickback. I was in the back section and fell over in a soft sandy corner. There was no way I could bump start it. And it was too heavy for my little 14 year old skinny body to push it back. Some how I got it where my left foot was elevated about a foot on the side of the track and it gave me a little more leverage for my right leg. After several attempts, I finally kicked it to life. One of the best moments ever for me on a dirt bike. For me, I had accomplished something that only the men could do. It was glorious. I wish I had some photos from that day. Great memories. Thanks for posting.

Honda Hills is back open again under new owners. Have not been there since the mid 90's.

Imagine the sport if everyone still raced multiple disciplines? Maybe they would if they weren't gun-to-their-head for 31 rounds...

Yeah & people r really getting into vintage racing . Depending on the series you can race upto 04,08 bikes. Mid Ohio had 50+ k in attendance, wrap your mind around that.  Rumor is Denmark mx track is for sale for 700k , I think you could get it much cheaper.  I know of a ski hill for sale.  IMG 5952 0
