The aftermarket forward facing locks wont work, cause I need to change the varitable intake cam gear with the chain job - and I dont need that junk in my way. 2 wrenches vice-gripped together has never let me down. Most I've made literally yrs and yrs ago from scrap mdf, plywood, and hardwoods. 

Far quicker to set up, and FAR less expensive. 

 

Hell, 75% of the clutter in my shop is homemade, guides, slides, dedicated router tables, straight edges, and a frikkin pile of inside, and outside, radius templates.

Being able to improvise and think on your feet is what separates the men from the boys. And unfortunately, (in my experience) its not something that you can teach.

Finished these up this morning, ready for delivery. Matching bedside end tables to match the dresser I made recently. 

110, and USB ports on the ends facing the bed.

Crazy how heavy these became.

Those are cool. The cabinet part has a 60's vibe, the top is modern and the handles match perfectly with the styling. The curved arch at the base is a nice detail. 

What kind of wood?

Material is Brazilian redwood, with Maple.

Amerock is the hardware brand.

Those add a nice detail to the straight lines of the drawer faces.

Quality stuff, and they have a huge selection of product.

The customer's gave me a lot of leeway on the original dresser. (a few pages back) My style is a lot of long, straight edges, with a radius accent or two to break up the lines.

Tops have a very slight radius front edge to match the dresser top.

Exactly. 

I noticed the radius edge on the top (the countertop). Its a nice subtle contrast.

Not sure what you call that ripple in the middle of the fitting. Is that there so you can flex a slight angle vs perfectly straight when you use the ones from home depot?

Yes the tool is very expensive. $1,800 - $4,000 depending on what kit you get. The heads are what’s expensive. They even have Mega Press fittings for gas piping. 

A lot of shops use pro press for pneumatic tools and compression air lines.

Sheetmetal work

This is a sheetmetal enclosure I designed for an anesthesiologist cart. Originally these were welded enclosures because they need to isolate RF tags on all the expensive/dangerous/highly addictive meds that live inside. It tracks everything inside constantly and you have key/fingerprint access. Gets opened many times every surgical case. I did it with simple sheetmetal overlap joints and riveted together. Torturous path and RF waves can't escape.

Tricky part was getting a face seal on drawer fronts. Soft close drawer slides need to compress gasket enough for seal, and engage a lock at rear of drawer reliably. This thing is like a vault haha.

I pulled a lot of cost out of that assembly, and made it more simple and reliable.

More sheetmetal. This is a semi automated mixing machine for cfDNA/cfRNA biopsies. I've grown quite fond of sheetmetal. It's very cathartic compared to machined or injection molded parts.

This here I called the "Boob Jiggler 3000". It was an R&D test rig I made for a breast implant company. The goal was a controlled and repeatable environment they could encapsulate implants and jiggle. We tracked how they moved/rotated, and pressure against chest wall. For a while I got to look at boobs a lot at work, so that was pretty cool.

The two lines coming off the mixing valve are for water supply under a three comp sink. There will be boiler drains installed during trim for the ECO LAB guys to hook up their equipment used for chemical injection.
