"it is my opinion that revenues have risen more than costs. I arrived at this inference due to the fact that we know their fees have increased in recent years. in addition, as a promoter-type business with a highly-optimized routine and long-tenured employees, it is likely their costs have remained relatively consistent. Unless the venue has raised rates precipitously, after a stable decades-long relationship, or unless event insurance has become exceedingly expensive for them despite a dearth of tort lawsuits in their lengthy history, there are no foreseeable reasons why costs would rise more than what they're able to recoup through aforementioned increase in fees. Because they continue to put on this event when there is the potential opportunity cost of not developing their pro motocross business further in lieu of this event, one can also infer it is a lucrative endeavor for them."

not ai. you're welcome. we don't always have all the facts, but we have the ability to intuit and infer based on likely realities. if expressing an opinion on this basis in a public forum this bothers you, maybe go read a newspaper.

Event insurance for racing is going up quite a bit each year unless LL is somehow immune to that.  The small club that I'm in is paying close to $1,500/day for events with about 2k people on the property, it was about 1/3 of that just a few years ago.  Most event type insurance gets more expensive the more people you have in attendance.

Diesel is also another cost that is rising year over year, a quick google shows it's at least $1/more per gallon than it was just last year.  How many hours of equipment run time does it take to put on LL?

That said, I'm in the camp that is pissed about this change and won't be watching LL for the first time in a long time.

"Hundreds of millions of potential viewers will have the opportunity to witness the world’s most elite amateur talent compete for coveted AMA National Championships at the sport’s most famous and hallowed grounds." I'm not sure how this is an upgrade or bragging point when the previous arrangement was available to all 6 billionish people worldwide that have internet access. This one's a head-scratcher for me.

Well that's a hell of a word salad that unfortunatley didn't answer the simple question I asked....How do you know?....the posts below HTech made the comment that MXSports already makes enough money and I asked you know this how? you responded with your statement so I asked the same question How do you know that MXSports revenues have risen more than their costs...unless you are part of MXSports or on their accounting team you have no idea whether any of that happened....and by the way I'm calling BS on the "it's not AI"....

So what if it does?  If they earn revenue from it that is a good thing.

Because they already make enough on this week of racing. They're just going to run people off.

you must have missed the final sentence that would answer your question. apparently, you lack even the attention span to read said newspaper.

And that newspaper is going to tell me that MXSports "already makes enough money" and that MXSports "revenues have increased more than their costs" I've been searching for the newspaper article that explains MXSports profit and loss but damn I can't find it anywhere...apparently you "lack the attention span" to understand that this was a question that was asked when someone stated that MXSports "Already makes enough money"....My question was very simple "You know this How?" and then you're diatribe began and here we are....still without an answer to a very simple question....

Again just to clarify I won't pay for LL and I think it's a bad move for MXSports...

Yup , all managed by World Sports Holdings LLC which is owned by the Coomb's .

I  went down that rabbit hole of Racer magazine and Racer X magazine years ago.  And its just another reason not to trust what AI tells you with a lot of things like that.

It is so strange that 2 similar companies exist and have no relation.

One doing similar stuff  but with automotive focus. Thats where people are getting confused.  AI is telling them that Racer TV is the Racer Network.  And it is not.  The Racer network is  automotive  and connected to RACER magazine  no X.  ,  Racer TV is motorcycle and connected to Racer Productions and Racer-X magazine.

Similar enough for AI to combine them and how you ask the question will determine what the answer is. The more I use AI in my serch's the more it feels like its feeding more into confirmation biased info. And not strictly factual stuff.

The Racer Productions logo and Racer Media logo look similar but are not the same.  It's similar enough that it seems to have  confused  some people.

Some people will never pull their head out their ass to see its all connected and owned by the same mafia of people ruining this sport.

I dont know how anyone could believe MXSports would let someone broadcast the race they put on and own and not make money off it or own the broadcasting network or channel.

The Cotter/Coombs mafia strikes again

At the end of the day, vote with your wallets. If it means something enough to you, $40 for multiple days of racing which is $8 a day isn't horrible. You'll spend more on your coffee, beer, tabacco, or whatever your vice is easily. Yes it was free but the demand was high enough to make it something to be paid for so they made a business decision which is what Capitalism is all about in our country. So let the numbers of subscribers who pay give them the signal if they need to go back to YouTube free or not. This is all said without knowing if the production team will be different or not but keep that in mind when you vote with your wallet. Complaining on vital won't change it tho. I'm still undecided but gotta have perspective.

They'll never go back to free, they'll just stop doing it before that happens.

Yeah me too Mid Ohio vintage race has more race bikes.  Next the riders will go there to get on tv.  Aprox 30 tv crews filmed our worlds strongest horizontal drill rig with every world record pipeline pull.  We did the same thing b4 they came around , I thought it was weird that everyone thought U where this big thing.. I used it to boost my date #,s.  Thur after Hot Dr Maura injected my shoulder. I drove to the other side of the stadium & visited at my pals mx shop ,  the Packers were practicing.  I walked ovr there & watched a few minutes for Free.  Looks like nothing in real life , Not impressive at all. But on tv it looks a lot better.  Most of the players looked small , quick legs though.

Its honestly sad to watch these 70 year old men destroy something right in front of our eyes because they have no foresight into viewership metrics and organic marketing.

They are so focused on greasing every fucking penny out of this sport and squeezing every dime in any way they can get it they completely have lost the big picture.

When Lorettas was free to watch on youtube, it was probably the MOST accessible mainstream coverage we will get. Its FREE, it would show up on anybody that's adjacently into motorsports feed and potentially pull in new and YOUNG viewers which is what is desperately needed in this sport.

Who the fuck do they think is paying $40 to watch this race? NOBODY that is under the age of 35 or doesn't have a family member there is paying that.

The whole thing is a money grab. You think Enzo Temmerman thinks winning LL last year holds any merit at this point?

Everything comes to an end at some point. EVERYTHING. Including DC's stranglehold on this sport (at some point).

And let's be honest - they're going to lose their ass on this deal: Have no clue what production costs are, but how many people are going to spend $40 to watch amateur kids race? That's right = grandma. That's pretty much about it.

Yah it sure feels like a big step backwards.  I saw it get Infront of new eyes , One of my Sisters saw and watched the kids racing. My other sister's kids happened to catch it while i was watching and they were so excited to learn that little kids could race, and that they made kid sized dirt bikes.

I was offering to buy a couple RFN electric bikes for them ( I was looking into becoming a dealer for their full line of electrics at the time, I may still do it at some point) . The  ones that are pretty much a full suspension BMX bike with foot pegs instead of pedals  and an electric motor , Super cool looking bikes, the 20inch has a max speed of 20 or 30mph I don't remember. Fast enough to be fun, not so fast it's super dangerous. And of course the power can be dialed back. But My past injuries were used as the reasons that she didn't want them getting into riding themselves.

They were up visiting around the beginning of the week and went back home. The kids told me they watched the dirtbike races on he ride home and watched more after they got back home. They are all more interested in other stuff and my sister discouraged them  some too.  They watch the  Nationals or SX with me if its happening when they are visiting. They are not super fans , but have watched enough that they know what's going on and watch at home every so often. They were more interested in seeing other kids racing than they are watching the Pro races.

I'm sure there are 1000's of similar stories and many that ended with kids getting a bike .

It's the same people yelling about Feld making too much, but not one of them has produced a P&L,  any visibility into total revenue, margin, expenses, or profitability.

I just saw WSX is $49.99 for the season.  I guess they are a greedy, devil company too.

MXGPTV?  Approx $165.

Arenacross?  Have to have Fox Sports 1 or 2....variable cost based on subscriptions but $20 a month if not part of another subscription.  Either way, not free.

They are also the same guys commenting about the Kawi Manager job that was $125K and saying how terrible that is.....but then a KX450 is already too high too.  Business acumen?  NOPE.

why do you persist with the white knighting and horribly weak analogies. you haven't produced a P&L either yet you have just as much or more conviction in your viewpoint as your opponents. you keep saying the same thing. over. and over. we get it.

Weak analogies?  Which one?  And you're right, I am fine with businesses making money and it's always the customers choice.  Nobody owes you shit.

Is it combs trying to make more money.... or trying to control the narrative,  same as perhaps Feld wants/is going to do in SX next year?

Limit anything that hurts or costs the brand?

I used to watch every year. I’m bummed they went this route with Flo of all companies. We all remember the last Flo racing shit show. Not only that but let’s be honest the free stream didn’t have the best camera setup. With them now charging $40 for the races, are they upgrading the cameras and viewing angles? If not, then that is a total joke.

I'm here and will say the number of workers at 730 PM was impressive. Multiple cops at the front entrance, people signing you in, workers at every corner and gate directing you were to go and men on tractors assisting if anyone stuck. It's a well oiled machine.

You can watch on Flo Sports with a subscription, as well as two hours each afternoon, Tuesday to Thursday, free on YouTube, Amazon Prime, Roku, and more. There will also be the Radio Fox preview show on Monday evening, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. live from the Fox Racing Tower, followed by two more Radio Fox shows before the week is over.

Speaking of Flo Sports, there’s a lot of people that are understandably upset that RacerTV.com is not streaming the races live and free like they have the last 15 years or so. But the move to Flo means that next year all of the American Motocross Majors will stream live—Oak Hill’s Spring-A-Ding, Mammoth Mountain, the Dirty 100 at Ponca City, Mini O’s, RCSX, and more—as well as all of the Loretta Lynn’s Regionals next summer. GNCC Racing has also made the move to Flo.

The deal also opens the door to some better production, added programming (like previews and post-race wrap-ups), and more comprehensive data across the board.

Yes, the move stings, especially after being able to watch it for free for so many years, but like Monster Energy AMA Supercross, Pro Motocross, the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP), and more, the move to a streaming service presents more opportunities to watch pretty much of the big amateur races, not just Loretta Lynn’s and Mini O’s. And after a week, all of the motos will be archived and available to watch for free on RacerTV.com and YouTube.

That statement, looks like it's just the beginning. Eventually, if you want to watch mx at all, be it supercross, mx or smx, you'll have to get flo.  This is just the beginning, it seems.

That is not my sign of gladness, fyi. I'll never sign up for Flo.  I waited 2 years for Peacock at whatever that price is a month.  I'm cheap. I don't watch enough other offroad stuff to ever ever say yes to a race channel.

If you don't already have FLO can you call yourself a true race fan?  Major sprint car coverage, AFT , World Tour Bicycle racing, even Rodeo. To be realistic amateur MX will be one of their less watched shows, very limited audience, perhaps increased exposure will help that.  Before I retired, out of 160 employees, 5 may be able to come up with a supercrosser's name, usually still think Ricky Carmichael races and don't know any amateur racers names, I would guess 80% would know the 3rd draft pick for the Brown's.

Indy and imsa are on YouTube. That's enough racing for me.

Gotta love the politician's deliberate ambiguity here. It OPENS THE DOOR to SOME better production. May happen, may not. No promises for Loretta's of course. But if you read it quickly your brain will tell you "oh. Yeah. Well at least production will be better". Doesn't sound too confident.

Hey at least it will be free on YouTube after the demand dies down. That's something.

Looks like "Millions of people" just means their page gets as many clicks as vital's "dark corners of the internet".

Anyone familiar with the cost of broadcasting a live MX event?  Let’s forgo the CAPEX and focus on OPEX. 5-10 people over 5-7 days, lodging, food, insurance, transportation rental, etc. Low end is, what, $10K? Not a king’s ransom but not peanuts, either.

This issue isn’t charging, it’s the fee. Flo should produce a national-caliber product but not sure that’s what most LL viewers want.  Not sure what % of the $40 goes to MX Sports, but they apparently outsourced the event to Flo. In any case, 2026 is a trial with results TBD.

How many of those positions are filled from the Loretta’s “intern” program. Volunteer labor model.

Is it really a pure internship if you get paid a couple of hot dogs and a T-shirt?

You’re the one that made the statement about revenues have risen more than costs, not me….I said in my expierance in the businesses I’m involved in the opposite is true…you mage the statement pretty sure that burden of proof is on you…I’ll wait…

So what if it does?  If they earn revenue from it that is a good thing.

Because they already make enough on this week of racing. They're just going to run people off.

Revenues have risen more than costs.

“Revenues have risen more than costs.”

Over the last 5 years, our costs for energy, materials, shipping, insurance, employee travel/lodging/meals …vehicles…and just about any other expense have gone up more than any other 5 year period since we began in 1991.

I find it very interesting that someone can make the claim that “Revenues have risen more than costs”. Honestly, statements like that ignore reality.

But, hey, I don’t want to interrupt this internet bitch-fest with facts. 🤣

Yeah someone that believes that has never owned or operated a business and has no ability to understand simple economics….I know in my world cost increases have out paced revenue increases that’s for sure…
