It’s not over till it’s over but if Sasha and Lucas both nuke their championships by the time the weekend is over are they still coming ?? Why wouldn’t KTM ask them to at least try another year for a MXGP and MX2 title (and that could take multiple years in reality) and all the sponsors stay happy in terms of gear and whatnot and KTM saves themselves a headache of having a star studded US team and a talent gap back in MXGP…

And what if they would get injured next year aswell? Then they'd be behind even more. It just doesn't work like that in moto. There is always something that can happen. They want to race SX and in the US. The earlier, the better. Deal is signed anyways.
The idea that the Coenen brothers need to win an MXGP/MX2 World Championship before coming to America is outdated. Their long-term goal is success in the U.S., and history has shown that arriving as an MXGP/MX2champion doesn't meaningfully increase a rider's value or marketability here. American fans, sponsors, and teams judge riders by what they accomplish in AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross not by titles won overseas. If America is the destination, the smartest move is to start building that legacy now, not delay it chasing a credential that won't change the outcome.
If for some reason Lagenfelder came over as a MX2 2-time World champion next year ( he isnt) or if Farres came back over to the US as MX2 WC next year, is there more people interested in them or Sacha ?
Im going to disagree & say they should stay another year. No one knows how there careers will go & it could be the only titles they win.
Crasha wont make it 3 rounds in SX. Look at the hard time vital gives the likes of macadoo. You cant ride sx like sasha rides, its not forgiving.
as for Lucas, with jett & hunter & donger boy & chase i dont see him winning a title for at least 3 years. Look at the talent Kenny is & how long it took him. A sx title is hard to come by. Anyone thinking these kids will dominate straight away is mistaken. It would be a shame to see them leave Europe with zero titles.

They’ve signed their gear deals for the states and De Carli has hired their replacements, so 100% stateside for next year.
The interesting thing will be with Lucas if he doesn’t win the championship as he could then ride the 250 in Supercross.
Doubt he has much desire to ride the 250 again, but good toe dip into Supercross, KTM still have Prado and Tomac… win-win.
Prado came over as a world champ, which precluded him from racing 250SX. Which he didn't want to do anyways.
With Coenen likely out of the MXGP championship, I wish he'd swallow his pride and race a shorter 250SX series (West) at least this year (Sacha East?), so he'd get more prep time for 450MX outdoors. You could swap him and Sacha on coasts, but it would weigh more heavily to get a 450MX outdoor championship, even if in MX 250 and 450 are national championship classes, the 450 holds more prestige.
JT has a similar MX focused first year - basically just "dip their toes" in SX but concentrate on winning outdoors in '27 and NOT getting hurt. Then full bore SX/MX in '28. But as much as I'd like Lucas to win MXGP, if he doesn't he can race 250SX.
Heck, the coonen bros have got me watching mxgp coverage again... even if they got hurt, it helped turn a lot of American eyeballs over to mxgp...
Lucas will struggle with someone coming within a foot of him in SX. He's been crying about Herlings passes on him. He is in for a rude awakening in SX. Sounds a little fragile to me.
Since the dates conflict, if not winning the MX2 title, Sacha should come over for the SMX finals and take the money. He qualified winning at Southwick.
By winning all it does is allow him to try to qualify in the LCQ’s for each race it does not qualify him automatically in the main motos to get that you have to finish in the top 20 in combined SX/MX points.
Herlings rammed Lucas into the wall turn - it was negative one foot of clearance ! Not that I had a problem with it. Same with Längenfelder; he rammed someone in the same place. Racing. Both stayed up.
Later Längenfelder came in way too hard on Farres for a takeout move and took himself out of the moto - while Farres stayed upright. Race hard mess up hard.
There was no good reason for Herlngs to be aggressive like that toward Lucas. Seems strange. Maybe he didn't mean to?
The Coenen's should not race any SX in 2027. Practice it, yes. Race it, no. You can't try to just 'test it out' and somehow lessen your risk of injury. Ask Prado. Ask Gajser. Look at how many guys get hurt even before the first SX race of the year.
Plans are for the brothers to ride really fast and then massive yard sale..
Lucas is a big lad, I doubt he wants to ride a 250 again.

I know the topic got downvoted into oblivion (which I guess is cuz the American fans are stoked on some fresh faces who could challenge the Hunter bros) but overall I think its a rushed and premature move. I think they could have made more money waiting a year or 2 in GP's and then come over as 22 year old prospects (still young) with a bit more SX under their belt (maybe do some offseason SX stuff or WSX to get better prepped). Dude 2028 could have a completely non-American top 5, 450 soon never mind podium, which is wild.
At some point they have to focus on sx if that’s is what they want to do. Delaying it any longer isn’t wise. However, like someone else said, I would have Lucas run west coast 250s, then go to 450s full time starting outdoors 2027. I doubt that happens though.
I think that will depend on their approach in their first year. I said it in another thread already, but I just hope they don't rush things with SX. I think they will race MXON and also Paris SX this year, with also moving to the US after that they would only have a couple weeks before A1 starts. I'd like to see them just use the first months in the US to acclimate there and to practice SX. Maybe do some selected SX rounds if even, but rather put the focus on outdoors and SMX in their first year. Rushing them to do all SX rounds would be insane imo. Obviously they have a team and people with knowledge going through those things.. but the worst thing that could happen to them is to go for all SX rounds, get injured and then miss most of the year.
