I think I posted about a year ago that my son is moving from SC to Texas. He is looking at a house in an area about 15 mi West and about 7 mi North of Houston. Anybody have any knowledge of the area I would appreciate your input.

Like Prairieview/Waller area?

Pretty nice down that way. Far enough from Houston, but not far enough from the humidity.

What's he going to be doing?

He's an elevator tech. Needs to be somewhat close to the city.

Only been to the Houston area once. There were definitely some beautiful areas there, but a big ‘no thank you’ to living there with the weather they have. Dallas had crazy precipitation compared to what I was used to, I can’t even imagine Houston during storm season!

You were on the wrong side of Washington, mutt!  I’m from the desert. Hell even here outside of Portland we don’t have as much rain ytd as either Houston or Dallas!

I gotta admit that last winter in Portland was a little bit gloomy, though.  But I didn’t hear a single tornado siren so I was pretty happy about that!

Nah, it wasn’t even that it drizzled all the time, it was the dark.

All of the very kind Olympic Peninsula Hippies, routinely pointed that out, “You’re in the wrong part of the state, YOU PEOPLE are on the other side of the mountains”. 🤠🤠🤠 still unsure what they meant by, you people.

Yeah, the days are a lot shorter in the winter but they are also a lot longer in the summer!

"In Wenatchee, WA, the longest day occurs during the summer solstice with 15 hours and 58 minutes of daylight, while the shortest day happens during the winter solstice with just 8 hours and 27 minutes of daylight.

In Dallas, TX, the longest day of the year occurs during the summer solstice with exactly 14 hours and 21 minutes of daylight.  The shortest day happens on the winter solstice with just 10 hours and 2 minutes of daylight."

Born and raised in Long Beach CA. Pretty hard for me to find another state to live in that has better weather.

I can imagine!  I prefer having the 4 distinct seasons but probably because that’s what I grew up with. If I had to pick either summer or winter, I’d take summer of course.

If you are alluding to the area around 249,  that entire area is growing.   I travel that way on occasion for doctors.  I live a long way from that area,  but travel there when needed.   My MIL used to be in Tomball for many years at a Senior Living community.  At the end of the day,  Houston is Houston,  but that area isnt too bad.   Its in a growth stage so theres upwardly mobile people and businesses going on,  unlike other parts of Houston that are old,  run down and shitholes.

Lyle Lovett lives near there and its not just too far from Rio.   (sometimes you can run into him riding too)

Best of luck on your son's new pursuit !

😁

I'm a "You People" drysider in Warshington and i will admit when we get out of our native habitat to explore the wet side we stand out like...well...a beacon of joy really. 😃

We usually have a tan and a smile on our face...and our wardrobe consists of colors other then earth tones.

Most people can't fathom that just about any real major green inside of this red area is only green because of irrigation.  Obviously the Wet Side is the most populated, but the desert area of Washington is pretty vast and beautiful.

It is amazing.

I could do a whole Chamber of Commerce sounding post. The amount and diversity of food we grow in the Columbia Basin is truly amazing.

Water, power and sunshine in abundance plus the awesome work ethic and desire of the people who work and live here.

Seattle culture has nothing to do with it.
