Ahhhh. I'm sorry. That's hard to hear. The track looked good and the racing was as well. I feel there shouldn't be GPs in some of the odd places but not South Africa. It's a important part of the sport. With what you mentioned then the GP was successful and didn't mean to be negative at all. I'm impressed . Hopefully things get easier and the GP grows

Thank you for those kind words Sandman...that means so much to us folk who could not make it.

Here's the thing. If the economy was not so shit then I'd say , easily another 5k - 10k fans...that's the sad reality.

Nevertheless, the whole SA fan base is raving about Vlaanderen's 2nd moto effort to bag 4th, for 4th overall. That is so uplifting for all us folk here and we are super proud of Calvin.

Another top ten finish for Oliver! I hope he gets the championship within the top 10, that would be amazing!

I think he's currently the best of the privateers in MXGP,  right?

So crazy what Farres and Triumph are doing. Who had him as a contender at the start of the year?

I thought the track looked like great, very wide, lots of places to pass.  Sure it doesn't have the scenery around it, but it looked like a proper gp track to me, albeit very high speed.

Track itself was ok, but it looked like it was built last week, by a couple of guys on bulldozers, on some vacant land next to the highway.

It looked like what I’d expect if I went to local motocross track.

What do you expect a man made track in the middle of nowhere to look like ?

Its South Africa, its hot and dusty,  Unadilla would look like that if it was there.

Johannesburg area is very dry during winter. Had this GP taken place in summer, you'd have lush dark green grass everywhere around the track and the trees would be in full bloom with purple flowers.

I liked the track but it definitely could be slowed down a bit..throw in a few 180 corners to start with.

The Mlimi's, who own the track will learn from this and if they get another GP then I'd hope they secure a date for later in the year.

I was there. Lots of spectators. Racing was excellent. Track was rough where it needed to be. The track is built on the side of the hill so elevation everywhere. Not sure what race was shown on tv, but all the comments made so far here, don't reflect the even I went to on Sunday.

I don't understand how anyone can complain about the track, it was great. I hope this round becomes a regular in the GP schedule.

You have enough slow narrow tracks in the series. Lets see them boys open up the throttle with big jumps it makes it more exciting to watch. Track was good and many riders enjoyed it.

Track looked epic, like a Southern California style track from the drone footage, very Pala'esque. If they get the event to be held in Cape Town area in future the attendance will be even better I think, and you can choose between a sand or hard pack style track all within 30min of Cape Town (they would just need the same track builders as the Terra Topia track as existing tracks in the Cape would not cut it for MXGP)- WSX had a good turnout and that same fan base will show up for MXGP.

I was under the impression that everyone was complaining that the track was too fast.

I enjoyed the racing, and for sure, the track layout was pretty decent. A few small changes here and  there could make the track better.

If they could run this GP in summer, then we'd have nice green grass and awesome trees in full-bloom.

Also the soil will be loamier that time of the year.

Johannesburg area is bone dry in winter.

They did a great job. Trying to slow down a track is always a learning curve. This is by far a decent GP track. I hope it stays. South Africa needs to be on the schedule.

Kenny would have to be between Herlings and Prado somewhere? He led like 150 laps this year in SX alone. I'd guess he has like 800-900 laps led in SX over his career. Add to that outdoors 450, 250 and MX2 and he shoudl be easily over 2000 total

..yeah, I'm enjoying watching Farres progress. He has a bright future and here's betting that HRC Honda will sign him for 450s at some point.

They need to bring the following corner(s) in as they are out too wide. This way they could eliminate these "equalizer" jumps. Most of the outsides are too far outside.
