I agree it would be cool if it inspired Dunge again...

He was reluctant to do so in 2022.
Im sure Dungey has been enjoying the quiet life lately also.
Pretty impressive in 2022 when he was running 4-6 moto finishes.

Idk how quiet life is, he is at the races dressed in KTM. He has his own business, etc. still working a lot just not racing.

Oh I understand the chances of it happening. About the same as the lottery, but we can say we wish we could win that without people busting out the statistical analysis.

Saaweeeeet! Guy becomes more of a legend in my book every year. How old is Cairoli now? How many years has he raced pro races for?

First time I remember seeing him race the GPs was probably in the '03 timeframe, so he's definitely been at it for a while.

First MXGP year in 2004 and first Mx2 MXGP title in 2005. Lucas and Deegan weren't even born when he got his first title and now he'll race them in the 450 class, let that sink in.

So stoked I picked this year to finally get back to Southwick.  It’s going to be epic.  Not looking forward to the crowds, though.  Southwick is not great for spectating on a “normal” year, and I can see this one being all time with all of the added hype  and competitors making the journey over.

Currently, probably, but John Dowd has two overall podiums over the age of 40.

Will he beat Barcia and Ferrandis and be Ducati's top finisher in these races?

Since there’s no US riders willing to legit challenge, Ducati had to bring Cairoli lol.

Dung could’ve been running top 20 and I still believe KTM should’ve let him do whatever he wanted for what he did for their program.

Never thought Id see Cairoli and Deegan race each other. Deegan wasn't even born when Cairoli was a rookie

Almost guarantee he would still be running well within top 10.
Remember when he started a lap down and came back to place 6th one moto.
Probably the greatest comeback ever if you factored in that the field was a lap up when he started.

During a SX after a tangle up, Dungey was shifting the bike with his left hand while in the air.

Chase started at the tail end and finishes first one moto.
Stew almost had come from a last place start due to crash to finish 1st.

Need that dog in Chase again.

Pretty crazy to put it that way.
But I thought he raced a Honda CR125 in 03. not sure if the whole series. But definitely a few races.

I’ve got him in my Truck for this weekend.

Always great to see one of the legends still lining up.

7/5/2026 12:53pm

Great to see him race Red Bud.......12th overall , not bad for a 41 year old not long off the couch  after 9 months.

Cant wait to see the other races and hopefully his results improve.

After the amount of shit Cairoli used to get on here during his prime it warms the heart to see the amount of respect and appreciation Americans have for him now. Not just on here, but on other social media platforms, fans at the races and from riders themselves.

I know it wasn't necessarily personal back then and more because of what he represented as the top GP guy at the time, but it's good to see - and not unlike the deep appreciation us Europeans have always had for RC, Stewart, RV etc (even though we didn't like losing to them). They all deserve it.
