Need a new tire soon and surprised there hasn't been a thread in here on this topic unless I missed it. I was looking forward to trying one until I watched MXA's review video. Not that I put all of my stock into magazine tests but I've always been a fan of how MXA isn't afraid to call a spade a spade. They didn't have too many good things to say about it. The tire has been in dealers for a minute now. Have any of you mortals ran one at your local tracks yet?
per mxa, when you change your tire you must add two teeth to the rear sprocket, otherwise don't bother....
I think MXA might have been more controversial when Jody was doing the testing. A lot of people are still running the "add a tooth" joke but seems to me that's pretty obsolete now. If you watch their vids on YT, you'll see that they have a bunch of people they use for testing and the breakdowns are pretty thorough and convincing.
But yeah I'm also interested in getting more data/opinions on the MX54. Keefer/RacerX posted a video about the tire, have you seen it?

i think all the manufacturers took care of the add a tooth to the rear sprocket thing.....i think it was more of a 2 smoker thing to get it to 3rd gear sooner.
still don't mind making fun of it now and then....
What are you racing? supermoto?

Worked well in hard stuff. Definitely felt stiffer. Slippery when wet. Its a decent tire but i still prefer 34 race spec on pretty much everything.
I was thinking about trying the front tire..I”m happy with the 14 & 34 rears for my northeast tracks…34 front is not great at transitioning to intermediate / hard IMO…just watched MXA review….I guess if you ride Perris in the afternoon they are good..😂wft….thats A pretty narrow window for a tire…
Keefer has a longer term review in show 487. He says the front is the best intermediate to hard front tire he has tried in a long time. Says it has that heavy front end feel that he really likes. He doesn't just ride it at prepped Socal tracks either.
I questioned the intro test that Dunlop did on a CA "hardpack" track that looks like looser dirt than most midwest tracks that aren't sand.
^Right? For anybody unclear on the subject, this is "hardpack:"
same.... 34 race spec is the best tire for me
