What about having a Supercross at Safeco field after Qwest field? Safeco is covered, and its literally w/ in a stones throw. Plus the Mariners suck so damn bad no one cares about the place anymore. And there is a SHIT TON of offroad people up here.

Can't we break in the new Yankee Stadium, now that George is dead?

It needs to be covered, and heated.

Recently an indoor MX arena opened in Syracuse and closed in the first year.

The big problem was no heat and frozen dirt. Didn't get enough support from the locals.

Or if we could, do a Daytona style SX in Loudon, New Hampshire, at NASCARS New Hampshire International Speedway. I don't know how many remember, but there was a track there back in the 80's that NEMA ran events. Muddy as shit.

sorry law 131 but the real reason for the closing of the indoor track in Syracuse was very poor management, organization, experience, and business deals gone bad. It had potential. The dirt never froze as the track was still in a insulated room. I was there just about everyday and the dirt was fine for indoor riding. It was chilly, small, and a little smokey at times, but hell it was riding in winter in NY

I agree that business issues appeared to hasten the demise of that facility.

The few times I was there with my nephew, the ground was rock hard and not fun to ride on.

Just my take.

It would be really cool for SX to come to the dome.

It has to be covered. You cant have it open and get a foot of snow on the track during the week of the race.

With all the talk of a new SX venue needed in the Northeast or SouthEast or going back to San Fran or 3 Anaheims, why not Syracuse, NY??? The Syracuse Dome is massive!!! We have a large size airport 10 min from dome thas always has connecting flights to all the major hubs, we have great night life, hotels, and restaraunts. Plus were within 5 hours of NYC, Boston, Phillidelphia, Pittsburgh, Toronto and many other highly populated citys that have nothing to do in the winter more entertaining then going to check out live SX race. MX is HUGE up here. I have literally a dozen great racetracks within 2 hrs of my driveway including Unadilla and all the hardcore hill people. The Syracuse Carrier Dome may be the only actual dome i know of in the Northeast Capable of holding a SX. There allowing dirt inside for the first time ever in March for a monster Jam event so they would be negotionable I'm sure. Just an Idea......
yes!

I had heard somewhere that the track builders would have to hire the local Union equipment operators instead of their own experienced track building crew at the NY or NJ venues, but who knows...

Why is it that there is only one dome in the North East anyway?

Why not just go North East in the spring... you know, one of the last rounds.

I have said it for years that a SX event around here would easily sell out. With all the current Unadilla fans and the old Broome-Tioga fans around here it would be great. Toronto isn't the same, and having deal with customs just ruins the trip. If they can hold a Monster Jam event there why not a SX? I feel like SX would generate just as much money as a Monster Jam, if not more. SX fans will travel hours and stay overnight at local hotels to watch a race. Monster Jam people tend to be more localized to the event and less likely to spend money in the local area at hotels and restaurants.

Didn't they have a SX on the early 80s in Ralph (Old Rich) Stadium in Buffalo. If my memory is any good, I think Johnny O' won.

I too am from Rochester. I sincerely miss the Broome-Tioga race and would love a SX in Syracuse!!!!!!!!!!

I like that poll on RacerX website...there are like a billion picks for Boston, including me Smile

We can have it at the TD Garden, just throw some dirt down in part of the seats and have it snake around haha

The northeast has always been a huge area supported by motocross. Where I am at in Rochester you can travel 3 hours and get to probably 18 motocross tracks that run races. You have highways that go all directions that are close as well to the carrier dome! This would be an ideal location. Is there anything we can do to help make this happen?

I live in TX but I work in NY, CT, RI, and MA. There are a lot more moto fans there than there are here. I have a blast racing some of the D34 and NESC races when I am up there. The crowds are usually as big as a Florida Winter AM at some of the NESC races. I am really suprised that the Northeast doesnt have an SX round. It would be rutted, thats for sure.

Ya we have allot of riders and a ton of tracks in this area. Just between the CNY and WNY area I can pick from 4-5 different races to hit on sundays. Besides Broome-Tioga, and Unadilla we have Area 51 (Buffalo area) and Frozen Ocean (Syracuse area). Both are national caliber tracks. I've been to a bunch of the So Cal tracks,Texas,Oklahoma and much of East Coast but we really do have a good moto scene up here and some of the best tracks to hit

I raced at the Nassau Arena on Long island in AX 2 years in a row (1999-2000). No one showed up.. but the dirt was good and the track was fun. I am sure an SX would draw a great crowd.

Baseball season in full swing, wet spring weather, poor scheduling.
