2026 Aus Supercross

Edited Date/Time 6/4/2026 11:51pm

This year we have a new schedule.

Townsville, Auckland, WA, Vic and NSW somewhere.

To be honest when Bailey left WSX I thought it would be great for Aus SX, let him and the business focus on building SX back in Aus and I think the last couple of years has been great for the sport, building a really good base, great riders, awesome TV coverage and I think the talent is developing but I’m worried this year it’s taking a turn.

Townsville is on the same weekend as MXoN and Aussie Jnr Titles, so MA have issued a statement saying they are not going to recognise the Townsville round as a part of the Australian Championship. It’s a pretty massive fk up IMO, maybe they were banking on the Lawrence’s riding MXoN but with Beaton and Webster a SX (maybe for Webster?) and MXoN prospect that’s going to be tough to deal with.

Adding that to the locations and general difficulty for even factory teams, let alone privateers to manage the logistics. Those in the US might not understand but the distances covered are huge, Auckland to Perth is almost 8hrs in a plane and like 3,500miles.

He is obviously pushing for growth of the sport and individually Townsville, Perth and Auckland are great additions but losing the SEQ and Adelaide round and adding those in a single year is a BIG change.

id love to listen to the phone calls between MA and Adam, i bet he is still spewing from WSX putting gold coast on the adeliade date last year,

Having Cole Davies headline the race at Albany stadium about 20 kms from his hometown is pretty awesome, although i wonder how big the fields will be, i see they have said they will provide logistics, (seems similar to the arenacross set up) townsville, perth and auckland are a long way apart,

It's a massive shit show honestly.

I'd say Townsville will have no Jnr racing same as Auckland.

As far as being on the same weekend as MXDN I don't think it will make a difference.

As for being same weekend as MXON and Jnr Aussies, makes no notice in my eyes, but I heard Webster wants to do SX, but honestly you would be mad not to want to represent Australia at MXON

Maybe if round 1 was down closer to the Jnr aussie event it would.

Bailey and the team are organising freight for bikes for the privateers similar to WSX where the riders only need to fly to the event.

I agree for SX2 that MXoN doesn’t matter but if MA select Beaton and Webster (seems likely?) that’s the 2 biggest teams in the country without their #1 domestic riders. Surely Dacka and Yarrive aren’t too stoked on that. Beaton was pretty good in SX a couple of years ago.

I forgot about the whole MA letting WSX compete against AusSx last year. Getting to the point that MA are not going to allow them to run Townsville as a championship round though seems pretty bad. Kind of turns it into a series of exhibition races, rather than a proper championship.

Be interesting to see how the logistics support goes and how many privateers have a crack.

a NZ round with Cole Davies will be awesome, hopefully they can hold onto the riders that are here for the Melbourne round to be there at Auckland so the NZ fans get a good field.

I don’t understand why NZ is part of the series.  As a fan it’s fine.  Teams and sponsors must be against it?  Why spend huge expense to go to an NZ round when your business is in Australia ?  It’s not world Sx.

If MA (motorcycling australia) don’t authorise the Townsville round as part of the Australian SX championship, than any concerns about the clash with MXdN is moot from a points/ title chances perspective for the chosen riders and teams.

Oh 100% agree there,  what factory teams will go to an "exhibition race" though? Is it worth their money travelling when it doesnt count towards championship??

is Brodie Connolly already linked to the NZ race?  Tbf it would be a pretty good NZ team in MxON with him and Cole (plus the NZ MX champ or Evans?)

I hopenThe Aussie team (mxon) is keeping an eye on Jake Cannon, 2nd in Emx250! Maybe Liam Owens too? He score two podiums on emx250.

Anyway aussie SX is always a fun watch! If you like Basketball, their league (NBL) usually have open broadcast on YouTube, its pretty good. Same level as the EuroLeague IMO. Same for their V8SC Championship. (I love it - when compared to Nascar or even F1). Their sprintcar scene is also pretty good. Great characters, the SprintCarHub is a good channel that talks about the sport. Gotta love OZ

it would be good to get Brodie and Dylan Walsh back for the Auckland Round, not sure if Brodie is doing WSX, so there may be clashed,  Yarrive usually runs 2 seperate teams for WSX and AUSX

It is going to be very interesting to see how it plays out this year. Here is hoping for a successful season.
