1986 Belgian GP at Namur, moto 1. 40 minutes plus two laps.
Jobe wins with a total race time of 49 minutes, 8 seconds. German Peter Mayer, finishing 17th (and last guy not to be lapped) had a total race time of 53 minutes and 16 seconds! He didn't even get any points for that marathon: they only went to 15th back then.
Nearly half (18) of the 40-man field never made it to the finish line. It was a dry race.

50 min struggling on rough terrain in a 500cc!!🤘
We used to do that a lot. My avatar is from a GP at the old Sunrise raceway, 40 minutes plus a lap, it was 108 that day.
Uphill both ways!!
Early March so probably nice and cool but doing 50 minute motos in the kind of heat we got in Europe at the moment must be tough.
Iron men of Europe!

Yep. Remember parking next to a kids paddling pool. Lay in there between motos.
I was there that day. It was hot.
Back when men had testicles... and knew what a woman was. 👍
How was the kid about that?
I took him down no problem.
when i think of Namur i still get goosbumbs. One of the most beautiful races i have ever watched in my life. those steep hills and stepdowns where terrifying, Walking around the track was already quite an achievement😅
