Holy crap. A smogged, 300-Lb., 125cc four stroke. Wouldn't it be faster to just walk?

Our first wr125 just landed at the shop. Pretty underwhelming and over smogged.

Curious to see how long it takes for someone to uncork one. With 4 valves and VVT, it could be impressive for what it is. Stock numbers show it about the same HP as a stock TW200.

Wish it was closer in price to the XR150 but the technology it packs and a 18/21 wheel set helps justify that extra $600. My main concern with it is at about $1500 less than the 300s, if you can swing the cash a 300 would be fairly good upgrade. Could be a great bike for a wife/teenage kid though regardless. Time will tell.

Slow and heavy. 125cc 4-stroke motorcycles have become popular in Europe, as in many countries kids can legally ride them on public roads from the age of 16.

Here, these motorcycles and the driving license/emissions regulations are what are killing the moped industry (50cc 2-stroke), which could be legally ridden on public roads from the age of 14-15.

A 50cc 2-stroke has the same power-to-weight ratio as those 125cc 4-strokes, is cheaper, and easier to maintain.

Yea I think with some major cutting and plugging of the air system and a tune it could be a decent little around town bike. Stock form my Honda metro 50 with some lightweight rollers gives it a run for its money lol.

Yamaha still makes DT 125’s and 175’s and sell them all over the world but not in America. Too light, too efficient, too inexpensive, and too easy to fix and maintain for us Americans.

Down in Brazil there is a huge racing scene for cheap small bore 2 strokes. Guys modding the shit out of these DT’s. It’s cool as hell. They race at night in streets of São Paulo. Pretty wild.

Might be a stretch there lol. My 2T Zuma with a CVT kit and some slider rollers didn't have anything for a CRF110 with a grown man on it. Like I said, this thing makes TW200 power stock and mine used to get me to 60 no problem.

It's got the opportunity if the community picks up on it. It's one of those things like Groms and Civic SIs where the manufacturer builds the shit out of a motor design but also puts in restrictions to meet very loose legal requirements with the understanding that there's a lot there easily on tap for the enthusiast community if they decide they want it.

But It doesn't appear from the responses here that most get it:

"But, it's all plugged up, and only makes ok power."

"Yes, that means unplug it, and it will probably be a firebreather."

Oh absolutely a stretch I was joking haha. No its not terrible but compared to a tw200 I am team TW all day! the wr feels pretty lackluster currently, like a ttr-125 with 2 more teeth up front. Plus all the efi and and emissions are overwhelming to see in the flesh.

I am sure if there is demand these things will be able to be opened up pretty good!
