After 5 weeks of national championships and international races, the worldchampionship finally returns. France is the first one of a 3 consecutive weekends streak. The WMX get their championship going aswell.

Decent entry lists! I see that Gyan Doensen will make his GP debut. Same goes for Garcia and Cannon with their BUD racing Kawi's. Ernecker and Askew will also make their debut.
Guadagnini will be out with a broken collarbone for the most of the season
Cas Valk latest rumours are that he is out with a broken femur. His crash circulates on Instagram and Facebook. That was a nasty hit in Markelo.. shame because I really would have loved to see him do well on the KTM
That was a hard hit... Mxgp comfirms in Instagram He injured his leg and saw a post of Valk sister huggin his brother at the hospital.
What a shame, he is a fast Rider... Hope he get well soon.
Herlings tends to get better as the season progresses, especially with weeks off to grind
That's because he is usually (except for two seasons) coming into the season not being at 100% or straight up injured. This year he has been healthy though. We won't see a much better version of him than what we have seen at round 1 or at Trentino where he had his crazy charge. He's already better than what we have seen from him the past 3-4 years imo.

Lets hope there is a replacement for Valk in MX2, would be nice to have 40 riders at the gate.
Also kind of weird to see that its a GP in France, no EMX250, 40 guys in MX2 on the list but no French wildcards?
Faure is injured; Fueri and Brunet are actually riding two strokes machines...
It was a sketchy thing to be doing on a 250, high risk, low reward. I was with the guys from the UK end of the team at Lyng for a while and they were stoked to have him on board.
Gabriel SS24 will be in France with Oriol Oliver anyway, and there is a month break for the British Championship, and i think the Dutch series is now done, he has to race somewhere.
Added to Askew, Brookes ( assuming he wasnt injured in his off at Landrake) and a couple of others, it should be a decent entry .
There is one more Dutch Masters race in July. But yes, I think it is a good thing he keeps racing, will definitely give him an edge for next year. Cool to see the EMX guys mixing up
Not sure what to think of Doensen's debut. He seems a bit "off" this season. Nowhere near overall podiums in EMX250 nor in MXGB despite being 4th in both championships. Trying to race himself into fitness maybe?
Interesting past few weeks, despite there were no GP's. Herlings clearly wanted to race as much as possible, probably to adapt even more to the Honda because he only could start riding in January: 1 race of the French Elite Motocross Championship, an international race in France and 2 races of the Dutch MX Masters. Another international race in The Netherlands where he was supposed to line up got cancelled due to rain. Coenen on the other hand raced nothing.
Will be interesting to see how it pans out for both of them.
He also gets paid a lot of money for these races. For these few races he should have around 40-50k start money. Plus he just loves to race, so it is a win-win for him.
I agree, was with his father on saturday night briefly, but its not a question you really want to ask, but like you i expected he would be nearer the front of both series.
He is still young though, i think, so maybe second half of season will be better
He also raced a smaller race in the UK last weekend!
ah ok, that makes sense. I guess Petit is also 2-strokes?
Would have liked to see Soulimani and Pietre.
Petit is riding (on a two strokes) only a few MX races this year...
With how fast Brookes and Askew are in emx250 and Doensen being 'only' 4th in British mx it looks like there are a couple of fast British youngsters in MX2.
Any plans for Mustoe or Heymann to do some emx or mx2?
Soulimani and Pietre could have done the french round of the MX2 world championship, yes...
Pit Row
Mustoe will race in Germany.
And Brookes is fast indeed, but the reality is he has 22 points after four rounds. He needs to get consistent asap, otherwise he'll turn in the next Bobby Bruce: fast, but way too few results to build on (internationally).
His inconsistency has been down to bike failures/problems. He switched to Honda this weekend and qualified on pole, had a good first race and crashed out of race 2 rerun when in 5th .
Expect him to be better on the Honda.
How much money do the top MXGP riders actually get for a GP win? (From the team ofcourse)
I know, but it's easy to point fingers. I bet he was very confident starting the season on his Triumph, until he wasn't. Last weekend he was still inconsistent, reliable Honda or not. Potential doesn't count anymore at a certain moment, results do. I get the feeling it's either bike issues or crashes with Brookes. It's been the case for the past five and a half seasons.
He was inconsistent in 2025 (on a Triumph) and he was inconsistent in 2024 and 2023 - on a KTM, probably the most reliable MX2-bike there is - aswell. I mean, he got 19th overall in the EMX250-championship two years ago. He's still in that class now and there's little to no improvement, in what's his fourth season. In 2022 and 2021 he raced EMX125 (KTM and Yamaha), and yep, inconsistent.
Do you understand why I get suspicions it's more on him than on his bike, regardless what brand he's on? He stagnates. Or, what I suspect, he's not the "youngster talent" people think / hope he is (which is no shame to be clear).
It is the first time this year that he can hold his dirt bike properly. So Red Hurricane De Wolf will be the man to beat. My bet.
To be honest I have no clue.. no reliable sources on the internet that give exact numbers. There were some numbers shared in the book of Marc de Reuver, but I cannot recall the exact numbers anymore
It's about time that Heyman and Mustoe gave the EMX a proper go. As for Brookes, he does run well and at the EMX rounds this year has been getting great starts and qualifying well, he does tend to crash in the races though, can't speak of mechanical issues.
I spent time talking to his mechanic at the weekend, they have been chasing stuff for the last year and a bit with the Triumph, and have finally decided to move on, and i know he had a few injuries prior, which have taken him a while to get over, and i think almost made him quit.
And your last sentence, i dont disagree, he isnt a youngster any more in EMX/MX2 terms, but seeing him ride , he is going well here, and has shown speed in EMX too, i dont think we are pinning hopes on him being the next big thing (i never did) but he is a good rider, doing a lot, without the team backing that other around him have.
What kind of backing has Jamie Keith got, does he get any support from Dave Thorpe? From the videos I’ve seen he seems to be working out of a camper van.
And Jamie Keith.
Heyman will be back to racing in the USA after the British rounds. I think you will see him at Foxhill, not sure if EMX or MX2 though.
