Husqvarna Mobility’s professional motocross and supercross racing program in the United States will enter a new phase at the conclusion of the 2026 SMX World Championship season. From 2027 onward, the brand will transition away from operating an in-house factory racing team and instead, support independent teams and riders with factory level materials and technical expertise for the SMX series. This evolution ensures the brand’s presence in racing at the highest level, while repositioning its focus on the brand’s heritage and wider riding community.
For 2027, Husqvarna Mobility will realign its direction in the North American market, aiming to further differentiate and broadly support Husqvarna’s place within the motorcycle industry – spanning its extensive Motocross, Enduro, Travel, Naked, Supermoto, and Electric model lineup.A legacy brand built upon performing at the highest levels of competition, Husqvarna’s loyal customer base and collective enthusiasts are passionate about riding – and racing – with a widespread involvement in motorcycling that often stretches across an assortment of disciplines, activities, and events.
Husqvarna Mobility’s influence extends far beyond stadium racing and the professional motocross scene. With the exceptional line-up of offroad competition motorcycles leading the way, the brand has forged a deep connection with riders and explorers alike. Backed by more than 120 years of innovation and a commitment to its pioneering spirit, Husqvarna continues to inspire riders to embrace every kind of journey, whether it’s racing, tackling rugged offroad trails, navigating daily commutes, or touring the open road in between.
As part of this transition point and strategic evolution, Husqvarna will develop an engine leasing program in North America within professional racing. Building on an existing structure, the program will make factory level engines and suspension components available for select teams and riders through a leasing model. The program allows the brand to remain active within SMX into the future, continuing to connect with the Husqvarna fanbase at the races and reinforcing the manufacturer’s ongoing commitment to motorsport.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing is fully committed to competing at the pinnacle of sport through the remainder of 2026, including this weekend’s AMA Supercross Championship finals, followed by the entire Pro Motocross Championship and SMX post-season.
Oof
More of a proper grassroots Husqvarna from the 70-80's vibe, and encourages less big sponsor overshadowing the OEM branded racers in the pits, building a better privateer platform.... time for some change.
I dig it.
So… all of the riders are going to KTM? Club MX becomes factory Husky? What does this really mean?
Absolutely crazy that this just came out of nowhere with no rumors leading up to it.
Ok so no more factory husky team, but they will lease factory engines and parts to teams. So likely we’ll see a satellite team (someone at the level of club or quad lock) move to husky?

Sounds like they're going back to their previous model before Bobby Hewitt's team was bought out and brought in-house. Consistent with the GP effort.
Here's what I know.
1. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna will cease to exist in 2027.
2. The majority of staff and technical effort will become KTM’s 250 program.
3. Ryder DiFrancesco and Daxton Bennick will move to this new KTM effort for 2027.
4. RJ Hampshire, and Casey Cochran are free agents and looking for rides.
5. Teams like AEO, Tedder, and maybe more could have access more factory level materials via Husqvarna
6. Malcolm Stewart I’m a bit lost on.
KTM is going to have a HUGE team in 2027, especially if the Coenens are coming.
Eli, Prado, Lucas, Sacha, Juju, Dax, and Ryder D.
That’s only like half of Stars lineup lmao
Definitely interested in what the KTM factory team looks like in ‘27.
Bring back Jägermeister KTM!
Malcolm and RJ looking for rides next year. That’s a couple of pretty high profile guys right there…
AEO Riders staying and getting factory support like Avery long?
Is there a financial incentive for AEO Power Sports KTM to stay Austrian platform with Husqvarna? They are/will not be just leasing motors and suspension, right?
I would be willing to bet Tedder goes Husky as one of the rental teams in the absense of Rockstar.
Day old news...
How the heck is cooksey more in the know than you 'all?
It's probably the broken watch being right twice a day. Probably have to check back in 12 hours. But I dunno.
Will AEO remain 250 only?
he’s had someone in the Austrian group leaking info to him now for a while
Pit Row
Ryder D touching all the colors of the KTM rainbow in just 3 years is crazy.
Malcolm and Jcoop on triumph next year anyone?
Perhaps quad lock for Malcom?
Gonna be another crazy silly season.
I have a feeling a reasonably high profile rider will end up on the Beta.
Maybe Team Tedder will be expanding to be one of those satellite Husky teams.
Crazy stuff. I wonder who Rockstar will sponsor now. Rockstar Triumph?
Is the Bass Pro Shop SX sponsorship at risk if Malcolm doesn't find a spot on a team?
This also explains the situation with RJ. Husky asked him to come back and race Supercross, he said, “give me a contract and I’ll do it” obviously they said no.
Especially weird since 16 hours ago ml512 responded to someone else’s thread saying there were no rumors floating around to confirm this.
They wait for official announcements to not only be more professional but also to maintain relationships with riders, teams and sanctioning bodies but Im sure some others were tipped off to this as well.
The difference being Cooksey will continue to be some dude talking to a camera stuck in his garage “leaking” information (some true, some not) while actual media outlets will interview riders, create articles on their websites and be able to report on the racing events that they obtain media passes for and get to attend.
If this ends up pushing good equipment and creating some stronger private teams, such as Tedder growing into HEP type org, that's great for the sport. If this cuts jobs that can't be replaced, then it's bad.
At the end of the day, all the Austrian teams were technically one team with one point of failure and we're seeing the impact of that in real time.
Was just about to say the same thing. I'm sure many people knew about this weeks before today, but there's a certain decorum and respect to be followed by those people in the know whilst getting everything finalized for the announcement. This affects people's and business's livelihoods and there's a time and place for the right announcement.
This doesn't affect the POS Cooksey at all so he thinks he's breaking news by leaking it before the agreed time. He's just a scumbag with zero integrity and it's a shame that anyone with a bit of inside knowledge would give him any info. Shit, this is the same guy that kept insisting that Jett and his girlfriend we're expecting a baby. The guy is trash
Malcolm to Team BassTracker Boats.😎
