https://racingnews365.com/f1-car-changes-confirmed-after-crunch-meeting

The following changes will be implemented ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, subject to a World Motor Sport Council vote.

Qualifying

- Adjustments to energy management parameters, including a reduction in maximum permitted recharge from 8MJ to 7MJ, aimed at reducing excessive harvesting and encouraging more consistent flat-out driving. This change targets a maximum superclip duration reduced to approximately 2-4 seconds per lap.

- Peak superclip power increased to 350 kW, previously being 250kW, further reducing the time spent recharging, and reducing driver workload on energy management. This will also be applied in Race conditions.

- The number of events where alternative lower energy limits may apply has been increased from 8 to 12 races, allowing greater adaptation to circuit characteristics.

Race

- The maximum power available through the Boost in race conditions is now capped at +150 kW (or the car’s current power level at activation if higher) limiting sudden performance differentials.

- MGU-K deployment is maintained at 350 kW in key acceleration zones (from corner exit to braking point, including overtaking zones) but will be limited to 250 kW in other parts of the lap.

- These measures are designed to reduce excessive closing speeds while maintaining overtaking opportunities and overall performance characteristics.

Wet conditions

- Tyre blanket temperatures for intermediate tyres have been increased following driver feedback in order to improve initial grip and tyre performance in wet conditions.

- Maximum ERS deployment will be reduced, limiting torque and improving car control in low-grip conditions.

- The rear light systems have been simplified, with clearer and more consistent visual cues to improve visibility and reaction time for following drivers in poor conditions.

Changes to the race starts were also agreed upon, however these methods will be tested and analysed during the Miami Grand Prix.

These proposed changes have been detailed below.

Race starts

- A new “low power start detection” system has been developed, capable of identifying cars with abnormally low acceleration shortly after clutch release.

- In such cases, an automatic MGU-K deployment will be triggered to ensure a minimum level of acceleration and mitigate start-related risks without introducing any sporting advantage.

- An associated visual warning system is being introduced, activating flashing lights (rear and lateral) on affected cars to alert following drivers.

- A reset of the energy counter at the start of the formation lap has also been implemented to correct a previously identified system inconsistency.

Damn, I just about forgot about this series.

I can't barely remember who's where.

I could easily save teams a shit ton on a new v8 ... which may run Audi out and prevent Porsche coming in ... Identical block, rods, and pistons, the heads and everything else is up to the teams. 11.5k chip, 2.5L ... NA and no battery. You give the engineers those parameters and just sit back and watch.

Wow! Kimi laid one down!

With 4 over .3 behind him, I didn't think anyone would get closer. Max still was what, .2 behind?

Turn up the ICE boost, tone down the regen/engine drag-charging, go 65/35 to create REAL RACING...and go 75/25 as soon as the teams feel they can "get there".

They've quite literally RUINED THE RACING...

A 2.0 Turbo V8 would do plenty. Making them run an actual mechanical cam would do well. And...yup...screw the hybrid crap.

This is F1.

Idk....I think it was a good test bed for hybrid tech, which seems to be the most realistic path forward for automotive powerplants at least in the US. They didn't seem to have a problem until they did away with the MGU-H.

As a guy that’s had good luck with hybrids, I agree with some of that…but, racing has drawn on existing hybrid tech more than it’s contributed to it.

Also, after watching Fast Friday at the Indy 500…yesterday…

Yes, those Fugly Assed Indy-Cars with their Hondas & Chevies…and, yes, they’re hybrids, too…but, not as foolishly RESTRAINED as the hideous F1 systems…well, anyways, after watching the boys flirt with 240 mph (386 kmh)…and on those silly skinny tires…and with, again, that Fugly windscreen and awful “wheel spats”…

After watching what those guys do on the slimmest of budgets…?

F1 is an ABSOLUTE DISAPPOINTMENT.

In a twist no one saw cuming ... The Sex Work Autonomous Committee has called for the strike on 23 May, the eve of the grand prix and the day of the sprint race.

SERIOUSLY ... the flippin strippers are gonna go on strike!!!

In a solidarity motion the #1 qualifying position will be left vacant as, according to this reporter "if the girls aren't on the pole, NO ONE should be on the pole".

Horner’s return and his ability to raise funding to buy a stake in a team had been talked about for a while…

But, a Chinese F1 Team…?

Huh.

Anyone streaming applets through a Roku and having problems?  My stream and recordings are often choppy and out of sync.  Voices of the announcers distorted etc.

More rumors of Max leaving Red Bull at the end of the year and being replaced by Piastri. Max's longtime race engineer is leaving at the end of the year to go to McLaren in 2028. Rumors of Max following him over there.

I think if he decides to leave Red Bull, he leaves the sport to do other things. He's always said he won't be in F1 long-term like Alonso and Hamilton.
