This was a great great place for music at one time. Just scrolled thru. Just see politics.

Great band AFI... side project by davey havoc.

Blaq  audio

Say what you want about punk going emo and what not...

Been wondering what the vibe is here. No music, just politics?

Hey man I hate it here now haha but I hadn't heard the AFI for years then checked out those links and was so confused thinking I was thinking of a different band then found the Miss Murder and I was like oooh that's what I remember haha I saw Helmet last Sunday night and one of the weirder pivots for me was John Stanier haha

From the relentless hard hitting groove of Helmet and The Mark of Cain (Aussie band that rules)

To Battles haha, Although they do have stuff that is harder than this, this was the first thing I heard and saw that sky high cymbal and thought 'hang on a minute, is that..?' haha

Haha jemcee good to hear from ya in a thread like this that one of the dudes that knows whats up is still around. Can't go wrong with Helmet. Lovin the Battle. Nice. Lol

miss murder was mid emo phase of afi. Kind of an acquired taste. A great band that shifted different ways, always pretty cool.

How ya been doing man?

Yeah not really my taste haha but I was getting a kick out of their get ups haha.. I do kinda dig the behind the clock song though.. I feel like it'd be the sorta shit that you like more and more the more you listen to it..

Yeah been good man.. I went to shows on Saturday and Sunday last weekend like it was the 90's haha it's a lot bigger of a deal at 47 than it was at 20 haha

The show on Saturday was my mates in Hammers (I shared some of their stuff in that other thread) which was lucky cause I probably woulda given it the swerve if it was the second one haha..

I dunno if you saw, but that Ecca Vandal chick that I shared in your 'obscure' music thread has blown up a bit and was on a South American tour with Limp Bizkit and was on Coachella so she's not exactly obscure anymore haha

How are you hanging?

I am not an AI fan in any way shape or form but this ‘new’ AI Van Halen song is pleasing to the ears and also scares the shit out of me! Fake Dave sounds amazing and Eddie is tapping (no pun intended) into Lynch mode😉🎸

Green, you may also remember Davey's side project DREAMCAR with the dudes from No Doubt:

I was a big AFI fan in the 90s, then fell off when sing for sorrow came out and that kind of emo-punk kind of took over and every band wanted to sound like that. Their early hardcore-punk stuff was good though.

Davey putting out this kind of stuff 10 years ago makes sense, it was looking like retro-wave was going to be the next thing after stomp-clap but that kind of didn't happen as much as it seemed like it was going to.

Being an old punk what do you do? Some went edm, some went country, some never changed, some gave up, some started making kids songs. My kids have listened to 1000 hours of Parry Gripp songs but don't aren't fans of Nerf Herder yet.

This past year has been a bit of a resurgence for me with music.  With the kids old enough, and finally wanting to go to shows.  We have had the time of our lives.  Never thought 50 something year old me would be in the pit with my kids.  Music heals so much.

Man that's some cool shit!

It's funny how it all comes back around cause my nephew who turned 18 in January is really into all the 'older' bands that I'm into haha I took him to his first real shows, the first was my friends band (Valhalla lights) then a couple weeks later Helmet haha I wanted to get a smaller show in there before Helmet blew his expectations haha

If ya guys ever have the time then check out a documentary about Sixto Rodriguez.

Though he faded into obscurity in the US, an early 1970s musician known as Rodriguez became a huge hit in South Africa and was widely rumoured to have died. Two obsessed fans set out to learn the man's true fate.

Check out the David Letterman show with Rodriguez.  Dont know how to embed by here's the link.

Went to see him play live in 2012 - unfortunately my friends and I had been on the piss all afternoon and were far too drunk to appreciate it. Think we even left early... 😬

Last band I went to see play live were these guys from Pennsylvania. They have a very 90's Grunge/Shoegaze sort of sound.

I quite like that.. Dunno if I can commit to listening to it enough to download albums if that makes sense? haha but I'm sure it's incredible to see live!

I don't go to as many bands as I used to but whenever these guys have a show they are must see.. I guess you'd describe them as prog rock but can be quite heavy.. Hang in for the big finish.. I could walk through a wall after hearing their songs live (If I could walk haha)
