Imagine turning down a couple hundred million because the PGA told you that you'd be banned only for them to make the same deal.  Smells fishy

Wonder what happens to those huge LIV contract payments?

If the LIV players now just return to play the merged PGA/LIV group tour does that mean they still get the LIV payday plus the new group prize money per round?

I can't imagine LIV could just void those contracts because they decided to merge with their formal rival?

My question exactly. I’m wondering if there was any verbiage or clauses in the LIV contracts that voids or “adjusts” payments if LIV ceases to exist in its current form ?  Or were all these contracts guaranteed?  The majority of Pro golfers are pretty sharp and are surrounded by even sharper legal representation, I’m leaning towards those contracts being guaranteed.

Where’s Rory and all the other critics. Funny they started to tone down their opinions in May, did they know what was coming?

Perhaps the saudis will just pay them.

they did just cut oil supply to push prices up.

maybe it is to pay their golf obligations?

Just caught a clip on local news, interviewing one of the PGA guys (can't recall his name).

His comment was- "that the PGA tour regulars expect to get rewarded for their loyalty".

So obviously they are pissed that they stayed loyal to PGA, the LIV guys got huge money, and now they are all back in the same sandbox.

Maybe the USA should merge with the Saudis. That way we can keep women from voting and driving. Of course alcohol will be banned and we have to pray 5 times a day but it's worth it.

The LIV entity will likely cease to exist. The new combined entity will be under the PGA’s majority control.

The main financial backer for LIV Golf, the Public Investment Fund, is becoming a minority owner in the new, combined entity. They probably won’t have to honor all of the financial commitments that LIV made to the players, and to minimize their court battles they likely helped negotiate the ‘amnesty’ deal for those players to be able to return to the PGA.

I’d bet that LIV was counting on a much larger TV deal than the CW Network and the backers realized that they didn’t really want to keep funding everything out of their own pockets. After realizing that they weren’t going to end up competing with the PGA for revenue very successfully, the idea of underwriting a golf business like that probably didn’t seem like as much fun as it initially sounded like it would/should be.

Jay "Money" Monahan just pulled the rug out from all the players that stood by him and trusted him. I have no idea how this dude can't be forced to resign and can every be trusted ever again. This is betrayal at the highest level.

I wonder what Rory and Jason Thomas are going to name their LIV teams? LOL.

If you look at what all the PGA players AND the PGA were saying when this was going on…

Well, where is all that “PGA virtue”…now?

There we’re all sorts of arguments about human-rights…etc.

So, what happened? Are The Saudis…all of a sudden…saints?

Funny how we are supposed to be cool with Russian aggression and Muslim infiltration now, like they expected the indoctrination of my childhood in the 80's and young adulthood in the 2000's to just not work I guess.

I just saw up in your neck of the woods, we are now relying on the Armenians to fight for our values.

Big fight between the Armenians and the alphabet gang in front of a school because the alphabet curriculum

being taught to their kids.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about it all. In the end, it doesn't really affect my life and I just want to see all of the best golfers in the world play each other more than 4 times a year at the majors. So as an avid golf fan, I'm happy about that.

But the PIF just essentially purchased men's professional golf through the most prestigious tours around the world. And even though they say the PGA Tour will have majority control at the board level, the power harnessed by the PIF because of their almost bottomless bank accounts would say otherwise if they threaten to take their ball and go home if they don't get their way.

Not just your average "saints", they are "saints with money"

You seem to be fine with American aggression and progressive indoctrination. You’re kind of a poster boy. You’re not happy just discussing golf.

Progressive America may not be perfect but it is much better than Russia or any Arab country,

"The PGA will keep tax exempt status as a 501-c-6 organization."  Maybe we should be talking about that instead.

On the flip side imagine agreeing to a couple hundred million, spending the last year playing in front of 32 live fans with 1,000 more watching on the CW, only to have LIV (and your LIV money) go away and you end up back under the direction of Jay Monahan. The more I read and understand this seems like a partnership between PGA, DP and PIF, with some mention of the LIV ideas incorporated into play but no mention of the actual LIV entity or tour.

It lasted longer than I thought too.

There are some crispy bridges out there. Should be interesting. Or is that "inneresting"?
