For the first time on Saturday night I was actually bored by supercross and had to force myself to finish watching the main.



I guess it was a combination of Emig saying "uh, you know" 12,000 times, Shaheen making mistakes (like mixing up 149 with 194 for example), the lame "special features" like hanging out with riders in the pits (which are nothing buy stupid time-fillers that aren't the least bit interesting), Brett Michaels (WTF is this guy- some washed up lame rocker who's trying desperately trying to revive a dead career with silly PR). Yeah, (insert sarcasm here) Dizzy X wants to be associated with guys like him to be taken seriously by the mainstream sport fans SX needs to attract to grow.



I've always defended Speed's presentation of the races, and was one of those guys who would say to others who complained that they are lucky we get any coverage. Well, based on the coverage this year so far, I am firmly in the ranks of those guys that complain.



The waiting was too long, and the races are just too short. And I've been a devout fan of MX and SX for 36 years, and a former racer.



I don't know about the rest of you, but to me the sport is losing legitimacy as a true sport AS IT IS PRESENTED ON TV, at least, and now seems more like a sibling to monster truck "racing".

I think what Brett Michaels is doing is pretty cool. As far as viewing I just let it go on DVR and start watching a little past the halfway mark so I can FF over the stuff I don't want to watch...IE pretty much everything except the racing.

I Would have to agree a 100% with every point you made... The coverage is to much based for the non rider, and racing is way,way to short. People say "well if the races where longer they will get hurt".... Godamn! they practice way longer than they actually race.Angry

Being in Britain, I can't watch the complete Speed Coverage, but I found the whole set from Phoenix earlier and straight away I remembered what you were saying, Jeff said 'Uh you know' twice in one sentence when they were simply taking a look at the track from the roof cam, and Ralph made multiple mistakes in the first few laps of the night. I reckon RC's quite a good commentator though, they need Weege in there, he's always good during the outdoor series.

They made so many mistakes I just decided it was on purpose, and that it was a comedy film. That's the only way I could watch it. You know. No doubt. For sure.

How about when Erin said "the track bited you"? Now that's funny shit right there.

I think they are doing a great job presenting the sport as a whole. Those little mistakes are what make it real and add personality to the guys in the booth just like if we were all talking around the table. I watch other motor sports and those guys make mistakes all the time. Its funny to some of you i guess but i think its getting better all the time!Smile

I have resorted to recording the program on the DVR, wait a couple of hours and then skip all the commercials and show filler and by the time the main event starts your back to live TV without all the frustrations.

I must be in the minority here...I even watched the entire replay. I don't mind the screw ups and little glitches so much...kinda makes me chuckle. RC must have been taking some speaking classes because he's MUCH better than even last year. Maybe he's just getting comfortable in his skin...no matter I thought he did fine. Erin is, as always, also just fine by me. I guess just having coverage at all is enough to make me happy...much less live and complete. I should also mention that I think the racing has been great. I'll just go sit by myself in the corner now.

Some of you complain too much. It wasn't that long ago that we as fans did not have a single thing to watch unless we bought a video. Now you want to complain that you don't like that there are too many intermissions, too many commercials, you don't like what happens during the intermissions, Emig and Sheehan are not doing their jobs well enough, etc. etc. You complain about the riders, the team managers, Erin Bates, and anything else that does't appeal to your overblown sense of self-entitlement. Grow up, shut up, and enjoy the show.

This year has been a good riding exhibition but I would not go as far as to call it racing. 1 lead change in 40 laps is not a "stacked" class. Not much for Speed to talk about.

One really positive note for me IS how much better RC is at commentating. He easily outshines Emig now. His comments are usually intelligent and more insightful than Emig's and he doesn't have an any annoying habits like Emig either. Maybe he's trying to set himself up to be the G.R.O.A.T. greatest REPORTER of all time. At least for dirt bike racingWink

Maybe you're just too old and grumpy to enjoy it. 36 years is a long time, so I suppose that makes you and elder statesman, which in turn, makes you an expert on all things motocross and television.

By the way, supercross has always been a sibling to monster trucks. Are you really surprised by that, considering the same company runs both series? Monster trucks make way more money than supercross does, so can you blame them for trying to make them equal? I'm amazed it's taken you so long to figure out that it's all one big infomercial. Just be thankful Billy Mays doesn't come back from the dead to replace Ralph.

I actually enjoyed this year so far. It is better than last year.....maybe im just blocking out the 'without a doubts". It is so much better than the 90's or eaven the80's where we would be waiting. Its all good by me. my .02

RC and Weege would make a perfect combination, RC speaks well, knows the sport inside and out and his enthusiasm as a fan shines through at times which is fun. Weege is a true professional broadcaster who is also a motohead so he knows all the riders, #'s and personalities. The 3rd guy...????, maybe 2 is enough.
On the floor, another former rider who can relate to the racers and understand the situation and come up with their own spontaneous questions. Grant Langston maybe...
