If Gajser has any title aspirations left, it has to happen here to relaunch his ambitions. It's "his" track, with a lot of Slovenian fans attending and he won his very first GP here in 2015, after beating Herlings straight up on his semi-factory Honda Gariboldi. He won last year aswell with a 2-1-1, and won 6 times in total at Pietramurata.

If it doesn't work for him here, I'm afraid it won't work at all during the rest of the season on a regular basis.

I agree, this is Gajser’s track to put his world championship aspirations back on track. Febvre should also do well there too. Can anyone beat Coenen though?

Well, if the start is important anywere, it's on this track. Coenen's starts have been so and so this season, or at least not as dominant as the second part of 2025. At Almonte and Riola Sardo you can come back from outside the top 5, but at Trentino... You need to be in there straight away. I think Vialle could be very dangerous next weekend.

You make a very good point, the track is really narrow & one lined in places. Herlings starts have been on point this season, he knows how to get that Honda out of the gate.

I don't know why but I get the feeling that at some point Gajser will just 'click' with the Yamaha and he'll be up at the sharp end where he belongs.

Yes, but as said above, the starts are very  important at Trentino and Tiga has not been upfront in any races so far this season.

Let's hope! The more contenders, the merrier.

Does Carioli have any type of limited program for this year?

I heard he was racing 3 U.S nationals, Southwick, Red Bud(?), and Millville I believe. If he’s doing a couple ama rounds, then maybe some MXGP rounds too?

Go to the race early morning and/or stay late. You will hear your Andrea Bocelli at full volume in between the rocks through the speakers.. one of the sickest things of this GP!

It's Nessun Dorma by Luciano Pavarotti, but indeed, must recommend.

What’s up with Levi Townley, has he got an injury? I had a quick look on his instagram account & nothing has been posted since February.

I have to say, De - I've mostly heard 'Doof Doof", Techno, and Acca Dacca ( and their like)  the times I've been to Trentino.

Something that's often entertained, well,  'Spooked' me, is seeing the Mad Bastards / Bastardesses Free Climbing on the Cliffs  above / around the venue!

I doubt I'll get back there again, but I'd really like to.

He's actually out with an injury, yes.

This is one of the sickest one-off setups i've seen in a while.

I'm going there on the 25th to see my family and to ride bikes. That place is amazing honestly. I rode up that mountain last time to see if I could see the track from the top but it was night time, there were too many trees and I don't think I went up high enough

You taking in Venice while you're there? - it's only about 100ks away to the (slight) southeast of Pietramurata /  Trentino.

I did the 'roughing it' take a couple of times - once camping by the little lake about 800 meters away, but when I went with "She Who Must Be Obeyed' we went over to Venice for a few days, then all over Italy. I think that finally got her into MX.

I'm doing a bike race from Naples (Pompeii to be exact) to the northern tip of lake Garda so I'll be taking in plenty 😂. It's my 6th time doing it actually so I've seen most of it already. I've spent a lot of time in those mountains, mostly East of the lake, and it's one of my favorite places on the planet. I'll fly out of Venice on the way back so the airport is all I'll see but been there as well.

So - You've ridden Up those Mountains? - You Sick, Sick  Puppy! ( Roadies, Roadies Suck Dead Toadies! 😁 😉)

I've been on Bicycles in that region, a hell of a lot over the decades, but bugger me, my 'pedaling' is very different - only about 50ks from Pietramurata / Trentino, as the crow flies, is Val di Sole - World Cup DH Territory. I point bikes downwards, only !

yeah many times. I keep a road bike and a hardtail out there but the latter gets put to use a lot more due to my love for offroad.

https://www.strava.com/activities/14574018836

This is the ride I did last spring by the track. 11.5k feet over 70 miles, so yeah, things can get pretty climby out there. Not my dumbest ride by any stretch though. You can see where I went up that switchback fire road right above the track. I was trying to get a view of it from above but It was pretty late and dark already, but mostly the trees were blocking it. That road continues way further and turns into a steep hiking trail, but if you're willing to push you can probably make your way up to the top of those peaks you see in the backdrop of the track. Maybe next time!

I've done some proper DH trails out there too, and, even on a big travel bike, they are some scary shit..
