I think the term “work” when talking about Sexton and Kawi is a pretty loose term. Will he look cool on the Kawi? Yeah. Will it be cool having somebody that’s pretty fast riding the Kawi? Yeah. So if that describes “work” then, yeah I guess it will work. Beyond that, who knows?

Chase definitely had some setup issues with the Honda, as he has had (and will) with every bike he rides - he's extremely picky and sensitive to bike setup. However, I don't know why everyone frames his move from Honda to KTM as being due to his disdain for the bike. It was pretty clearly due to the writing on the wall at HRC that Jett was the #1 guy moving forward, and frankly, Chase is too good of a rider to be a #2 guy. He wanted to be the main focus of his team, which is completely justifiable.

Ive said the same about Hunter before- he's too good to be a No.2 guy. I can see that sometime in the future he might like to be the main focus of a team. Which won't happen if he's on the same team as his brother.

Imagine you're going toe to toe with Eli Tomac for the MX title, just losing by a couple points. Then you win the SX title the year after (wether by other riders getting injured or not doesn't matter) and everyone expects you to be "the guy to beat" in MX and specially in the future.
Then a rookie moves up to the 450 class and you couldn't lead a single lap against the guy who is also happens to be on the same team and now the whole spotlight shifted over to Jett. I feel like Chase must have felt so much frikkin pressure in 2023, it's probably hard to imagine. I can't blame him wanting to get out Honda there, even when I don't think he handled it well by just leaving without a word during the SMX final. But a guy like Chase isn't supposed to be the #2 guy in a team.

And you're spot on, he will have the same setup issues with Kawi as with Honda and KTM sooner or later and he will also have days where he looks untouchable again. I honestly think not a lot will change. He will win and he will also have those super weird crashes again. I just hope he doesn't end up in a situation again where he thinks the bike prevents him from winning championships. I just want to see him out there battling for wins and continue to battle for titles without getting in his own head because he just belongs up there..

The thing with Hunter is that he is that good because he and Jett have a dialed program together. Do we think Hunter performs the same on a different team riding on his own? I personally don't and the whole team/family crew is probably also aware of that. Or do you think them being on different teams and still doing everything together would just work as good? What they have currently makes both of them better imo.

I said it from the beginning, the neutral chassis on Kawi will allow him to free up.  Honda front end biased, KTM is a little quirky until in the slot, Kawi has Showa and IF need be KYB.  I see this panning out very very good.  Kawi is not in a "bad" spot, they won with Jason, had podiums, but it didn't work out with Prado.  Chase will erase that immediately. As for Garret, I hope the dude takes his time and shows his potential. No rush, just ease in and enjoy.  Top 12 would be the goal with Top 10 overall. I like seeing the parity of top racers on different bikes and teams.

Just one of the blinders in this thread!

Well worth a re-read.

We’re just glad we have you to police the abhorrent practice of sports speculation. What would we do without someone with the guts to call people out when they, by your sole judgement, need it most. It must be hard to be so modest and always right about everything, so impressive.

Sexton looks lost on the green machine. He looks like he trail riding the bike. Anyone that has watched him over the years can tell how bad it looks.

He's looked good on the Kawi at times. The race he won for example, he looked real fast. Looked good last week as well, and last night he was the 2nd fastest qualifier behind KR. It's not the bike, it's Chase looking for a perfect set up. Which doesn't exist.

Being a fellow midwest guy from Indiana, I've always liked Chase. But he can be his own worst enemy.
