That's hilarious! Why would he want that? Chad was nowhere near them... James backed it down, but not until he got ran down. Poto was on fire that night. Too funny..

my point was James had a sweet start got around Alessi and if he was so super humanely fast as everyone beats their chest and says should have been able to easily pull a gap on RV especially as RV took a bit to get into second- I do understand that James was looking for a championship but it seems like there is always some excuse as to why James is super human an unmatched when in fact he has been passed straight up and whether he fell or got the pass back and someone else fell or whether RC had to back it down for championship...is never brought up- That is why the record books say what they do- 97% tells half the story- the records tell the rest...shoot I could have a 97% record if I crashed every time I didn't win- Maybe his crashes robbed others of the bragging rights ever think of that?

Yep I'm sure James was trying his hardest to win a race where he only needed third to win the Championship. (sarc)

There may be lots of examples this year where RV will pass Stewy, but its hard to believe any one thinks he was going to ride his fastest to try to win that that race and take any chance on throwing the Title away.

RV will get by him just be patient.Smile

I don't think James let him go until AFTER RV caught and passed him. Of course, that is impossible, no one has ever passed the FMOTP. /sarc.

RC was merciless and I'll bet it took a while for James to get over racing with him.
He ain't over it yet! As soon as one of the new red heads puts some real heat on him, James will go into flash back mode and then,,,,, watch out first five rows of spectators!

Ummmmm, this is Supercross that is being discussed.

It's a shame that so many of you seem to not want to see the kid not do well.

Bullshit... his fans think he's God

Man, I find the haters so much more annoying than the board proclaimed "Worlds greatest fan" types.
The funny thing about some of the haters are they come up with some of the most amazing compliments. The fact that since turning pro in 2002, only one racer (RC at Toronto) has run down, passed and won the race against JS in SX is amazing. Heat races included. That is a stat that I don't think we will ever see repeated. Funny thing is that it isn't the band wagon fans that point it out or continue to talk about it.
1/13/2011 9:39am
Many of you are forgetting that James has not raced a SX since Pheonix last year. I think that all will get faster, James, Reed, TC, and the 2 Ryans.
I certainly hope that they all put in some good passes on each other, it makes for exciting races. What I find really funny is that you guys are debating over what amounts to fractions of a second in lap times, and they will ALL make mistakes here and there.
My personal opinion is that James has the speed in reserve should he get passed, that is the fact that he has proven in past races with both Reed and RC. The bigger question is do TC, RV, and RD have that ability as well? I hope they do, again good racing! From my perception of the race last week (that is all we have anyway), is that once James got past TC in the main he did not look concerned that he only had a few lengths on him. Same could be said with RV in the heat race.
They are gonna run the whole season regardless of what we think or whom we believe is the fastest, so may as well sit back and enjoy the ride instead of hanging off anyones sack!!

the kid you speak of...is that Trey Canard? Just because I point out some things like the fact that guys have caught and passed him and then either barely lost, or he fell robbing them of a victory doesn't mean I don't wish him well...it just seems that people don't realize how much he crashes robbing some of said victory...for instance I know we are speaking of SX but Unadilla technically was not a straight up win for RD because James fell in a corner...statistically speaking but we all know that RD had the speed and fortitude to lay it to him...now I know he wa coming back etc...but that is an example of the stat. I have seen CR, RD, RV, RC etc close a gap on him..it's been my experience he either wins or crashes...riding beyond the point of control is exciting it's on the edge not impossible for others to duplicate-to see the total picture you have to look at the crash record too....no hate there just trying to be real and say that it is possible that someone will pass him and win- to point to 1 pass and win is silly..

Who exactly are these "guys" that have caught James from behind in SX? Rider and race please, even if James fell while they were walking him down..........

Do some of you even watch the sport of supercross(not talking about motocross)? I am curious if you have really been around these last 6 yrs or not.

RC passed stewart 1 time and beat him without any crashes from either of them. I believe it was in Canada...

I would like to see someone post a video of another time RC did that...

RV has beaten him only by catching and passing him one time, Vegas...

who else that ever put their leg over a bike can say that?

thanks for bringing up 7's incredible talents by posting this thread...

it should also be mentioned that 7 has crashed once or twice while chasing 4...that needs to be said...RC forced himself to go at 7's pace...can't wait to see 2 and 5 force themselves to go that pace for 20 laps...crashes will happen for all 3 of them...hope no one gets hurt...

Just off the top of my head 2009 comes to mind- check out Indy...around 441(pun intended) after JS gets by CR he latches on for several laps and then after running it in on him james falls over...no win for Reed...I also think the others show CR's ability to match James close gaps etc...he just didn't get the win...There are numbers of races where RC either was latched on and JS went down..etc. We saw RD close the gap yes I have watched the last 6 years easy bud..how quick everyone el;se forgets-

The stat is somewhat skewed by the number of times James hit the ground when he was pressured. It's like clinging to the fact he'd never lost a race when he didn't crash.

Your right these guys will never be able to match James...I mean it will always be his set up doesn't look right or he's not riding like James..or iff he woulda stayed up or got a better start they wouldn't have won- CR closed the gap on him at A12009 before he took em both out- RD damn near passed him back at the endof 2010A1 There are many photo finishes of RC and him...and this is when RC had the championship in the bag and didn't need to beat him- All I am is saying is that I think these other guys can do it..it's possible- Thats all Take 2009 and add three Reeds not including Reed and how many wins would James have? we are about to find out if everyone is healthy-

I went through the archives and as far back as '03 it looks like the only time Stewart has been beaten without going down in a race is the Vegas race. With that being said, he has crashed more than anyone I can remember and wether or not the no crash=win is an impressive stat dosen't really matter when win=win. The stat is misleading, it doesn't prove he can only be passed if he crashes what it proves is that he crashed alot (22 times out of 60 races) which wouldn't matter if he could win after hitting the deck. He is no doubt crazy fast but there have been a few riders who have walked him down in SX, not limited to RC and CR. If I can find the time I will go through some videos and more race reports to find them.

Please, go to some videos because I have no idea who you think might have "walked down" James in SX (and normally walk down means caught, passed, and beaten). You guys might want to post some details to back up your claims from now on.

You also seem to imply that James was being "pressured" when he crashed. A lot of those crashes were because he was trying to win by 30 seconds.

I never used this walked down term..I ve produced seceral videos backing my point and meeting your prior criteria- I'd also like to point out that JS laced up against RC for 3 AMA SX title attempts and 3AMA MX Titles...of the 6 attempts how many did the man that can't be passed get? Seriously, RC was able to ride at or near his pace...I mean out all those races no championships..crashing 33% of the time may not mean your the fastest man on the planet but rather the one willing to ride the furthest over your head to try and prove a point... I swear P you and I have going back and forth on this stuff since these days that I speak of and before you it was Kong. I love the banter and respect your opinion I hope you know that ... I also hope you know that the footage you ask for will slowly grow throughout this season...as there is a new crop of young and hungry's close enough in speed and confidence to make 2007 and 2009 look like childs play...

PS Aldon always trained RC to peak at the point they headed east...wonder if that has changed? And we know he's bitter about the powder dognut rub James used to give him re RC...

Walked down "normally" means to catch someone that has a sizeable lead and has nothing to do with what happens at the finish line, that is "usally" referred to as winning, beating him, smoking him, etc., etc..
Actually "you" are implying that, not me, I am just presenting the facts and will present some videos this evening if I have time (I do have a job) but if you are so dead set in the truth you can peruse some SX races in the 2003-2008 time frame and should find what you are looking for.

Actually, you are wrong. The term "walk down" ALWAYS includes the implied notion that the person that got walked down lost in some form or fashion. If someone gets walked down in track they get caught from behind and beaten. If someone gets walked down in football they get caught from behind and tackled. Otherwise all you have is a close second or a guy that got beat for a touchdown.

Feel free to search all of the video that you want. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Why don't you start off with some names before you start doing a lot of searching.............

I'm not saying that James can't be beat, but the way he looked last week I don't see anyone catching him on pure speed if he has a good lead.
