Who cares, it would have been a boring parade if not for Bubba slicing though the pack!

Lots of great racing last night. Dungyes confidence has been shattered, RV's has increased. Reed is probably questioning himself, but he also got a 17th place start. Good battling like I wanted up front. LOOKING FORWARD TO 16 MORE ROUNDS!!!!!

I agree with everything you said except Dungey's confidence being shattered.

Dungey came 2nd... why is his confidence shattered? He's got to be the most level headed one of all the main players.

Cause he is Dungey, and there are 3 other dudes that can run his pace. Starts will be crucial this year. I really have no favorites, maybe Reed but I don't care one way or another, just wanna see some good hard racing

Some of the posters here may have thought that Dungey was going to kill everyone, but Dungey him self knew what he was up against.

It's going to be a good year of racing.

Calm down kid. Stewart was 1 sec a lap faster than RV once he cleared Canard. RV is onlyy has good as Stewarts starts. I for one hope Stewart has a few more starts like last nite. Otherwise its going to be very boring to watch this series.

None of these guys are on Stewarts level if they have to battle him straight up.

That remains to be seen. Has anyone ever come back from an injury like Villopoto's (badly broken leg) and won the first race back? Think he isn't going to get faster as the series moves along? I think we're in for one hell of a season between these 3, with Canard thrown in a few times here and there.

Don't ever bring the "straight up" comments into it. They all started on the same line at the same time, what happens from there determines wins or losses. Stewart got 3rd, he got beat "straight up". There is no telling how outcomes would change with Stewart there at the start. There also is no telling how things play out after a few rounds go by. Without a doubt, Stewart was fastest last night. That doesn't mean he will be in 2 months....or next weekend. Look at Hangtown 2010 and how that didn't mean a thing concerning the coming races.

Lap times don't lie. RV was amost 1 sec a lap slower than James when they both had clear tracks. Stewart's best was 8/10ths faster than RV's. The reality is RV needs the stars to line up like last nite to beat Stewart.

RV got the win but his pure speed is not close to Stewarts.

Talk all you want... James got third, got it? No crashes, no excuses. In the past he would have ran down everybody and won. Not this year..

I'm guessing Stewart had faster lap times since he made up a whole bunch of time on them all. Lap times don't lie, but circumstances change. Did you see either RV or Dungey put a wheel out of place in the main? Did you see Stewart case that triple? My point is that neither RV or Dungey looked to be pushing it. Another one of these new Stewartisms is "pure speed" or "raw speed", to go along with "straight up". I have never heard of these terms used comparing any other riders until James loses or crashes but we have to figure out ways to still make him the best. Last year we saw races where RV was fastest, no doubt. We also saw races where Dungey was fastest, no doubt. Insert Stewart into this equation. There will be races he wins "straight up" this year...there will be races he loses "straight up". They don't give out titles for "pure speed" or "raw speed". You're fast or you're not. RV winning coming off a broken leg is a serious statement.....you can either accept it or argue against it. There's 16 more races to go and we can just sit and watch what happens, instead of trying to debate what will happen.

That being said, RV's speed right now is pretty damn close to Stewart's. By midseason, Stewart is gonna realize he will have to really work to keep it that way.

Wtf do you consider "straight up"??

raceface was on the money. They all started at the same time, on the same gate, and none of them crashed. Fastest lap times or not, two other guys put it all together better than JS and he finished 3rd. Straight up as it gets. It all comes down to one thing: whoever has the most points at the end, wins. not that hard a concept to grasp really.

Yep, if there is a more calm and calculated rider i would like to see him! As always he came through several guys taking his time and taking what he could get while riding smooth as silk and ended up in a good position for the first race.

One thing that i don't see on any of the posts here is that RD also started a ways back, seems like he was about 6-10th at one point. At any rate he also had to deal with wide riding by several slower guys and in the end he was gaining on RV and dropping JS. Yes not by much but still was the fastest guy late in the race by eye and by lap times.

I don't know what to say as far as who will win all the marbles this year! Too close to call IMO

Yes, that is great for RV, but did you see the qualifier, JS smoked RV. If James would have got a better start, he would have again beaten RV

James is on a different level. But at that level he crashes more. It is about consistancy. If James keeps his speed and his consistancy and doesn't crash, I don't think anyone will beat him. But that is what makes it exciting. If James gets the holeshot, he is gone. If he has to work his way up through the pack, he has to be smart. I don't wish anything bad on James but there is nothing more fun to watch than James move through the pack like no one else can. He is amazing and brings excitment to the sport, If he gets a holeshot, it is a yawner because everyone knows he will win. Even Reed couldn't beat him. Thinking crashing him would hold James back, that did not work either.

Good grief you guys just don't get it do you? If, this, if that? That makes zero fucking sense. JS didn't win because RV and RD were better last night. PERIOD. WFT is so hard to understand about that? Yes, JS will win races this season, but last night he DIDN'T win!!

Come on guys,,,,,,
It's only a straight up race if James wins.

Silly me I always thought the guy that got to the checkered flag first was the winner but I guess laptimes and heat races are what decide it.
