I’ve ridden this track. It’s mostly sand (not like Lommel), more like sand on top of a very hard base. I think Herlings will dominate more here than in Argentina (plus, Herlings trained there during preseason).

My poll is:

Mxgp 1ºHerlings 2ºCoenen 3ºGajser

Mx2 1ºCoenen 2ºEverts 3ºSimon

The GP isn’t this weekend is it?

No, in 10 days time. But with everything that went on in Argentina and the excellent field in EMX250, it seemed fine to me to open a thread.

Sand on top of a harder base, sounds like Valkenswaard to me. Probably a little less sandy.

yeah it sucks.

I would not be surprised to see some guys move over to MX2 in a few events though.

There are 20+ riders in that list who scored a top 3 or even won in EMX250 or won last year in emx125. I can see a bunch of the older guys thinking after 3 rounds hmmm i had a bad couple of rounds, i wont finish high in points anyways so lets skip going to turkey and portugal and just do a couple of rounds of mx2.

From last season's EMX125 top ten, the first eight move to EMX250: Nicolò Alvisi, Mano Faure, Filippo Mantovani, Niccolò Mannini, Dani Heitink, Jēkabs Kubuliņš, Francesco Bellei and Jarne Bervoets. With them also Áron Katona – who was leading the championship for a while until his injury –, Douwe Van Mechgelen, Cole McCullough, Vencislav Toshev, César Paine Díaz, Ian Ampoorter, Dean Gregoire, Andrea Roberti, Michael Conte, Félix Cardineau and Jayson van Drunen make the same move. Out of the 2025 EMX125 top twenty fifteen riders move to EMX250, that's insane.

Francisco García, Liam Owens, Gyan Doensen, Nicolai Skovbjerg, Jake Cannon, Mads Fredsøe, Lyonel Reichl, Adrià Monné, Simone Mancini, August Frisk, William Askew, Alexis Fueri, Maximilian Ernecker, Elias Escandell,.... stay in EMX250 for another season.

So, you guys say who's going to take the championship. Your guesses are as good as any😀

If he stays injury free, Garcia will destroy that field.

Yeah i agree. maybe a rookie or 2nd year emx250 rider will step up and challenge him, but imo Garcia will beat 95% of these names.

Based on his second half of 2025, yes. But in the first half he was pretty inconsistent.

Based on what we saw from 2026 pre season races too.

It's just a provisional list of the riders/teams I could find who confirmed to compete in the championships. EMX125 is only a list of 30 riders now, but there will be much more at the starting gate (mainly Spanish riders).

Bradley Mesters didn't have a team a few weeks ago, but looks like he recently signed with Kosak KTM, so he will probably race after all. Werner just started bike practice a few weeks ago after injury, so uncertain if he will line up. Same for Brookes. Bobby Bruce will race a 450 in the British Nationals.

From what I know, Petit won't race the 2026 EMX250 championship...

Too bad, he was on fire last year before getting hurt.

Only one, and a DNF and a second place in Sommières isn't really consistent. But you're right, if he stays healthy and on two wheels, he probably will dominate.

Jamie Keith not lining up in EMX250. Is he on a British only type of deal?

Will definitely cheer for Kubuliņš in EMX250. First of all he is latvian, secondly he will ride a 2 stroke.

He rode in Castelnau too (french championship), and was dominant by far. In Sommieres, Garcia rode 3 motos, and scored in 2 (last race with the 450cc riders). I was there, and I was impressed with his speed. And don't forget about his promising ride (on a 450 KXF) at the 2025 MXoN...

Weather doesn't look good for the moment. Let’s hope it changes drastically!

I really dont understand why Infront does not combine Spain with Portugal.

Just looked at google maps and didnt realise Almonte is all the way in the south of Spain. It's over 1100 km just to get to the border of France.

Combining Spain and Portugal would save days of traveling (and lots of costs) and it would also fit in nicely in the training program to be in the south of spain/portugal in march to ride in the days in between.

I was thinking the same when I saw it on the map.

On the other hand, most organisers hold on to their usual date on the calendar (like Loket in the last weekend of July, Lommel the first weekend of August and Uddevalla in mid-August, to go back to Arnhem at the end of August, which doesn't make any sense either). But with the weather the Portugese GP had to deal with the last two years I understand they pushed their event further in the year to get a better chance of sunshine aswell.

Yeah i think combining Latvia and Sweden would also make a lot of sense. Latvia back to western europe but via Sweden is only a few 100kms extra (with the extra km being a ferry trip from Latvia to Sweden).

i guess its always a fight between organizers to get a date they like versus a date that would suit Infront and/or the teams/riders
