Haven't owned a two smoke for about 25 years, last one was my 97 CR250
Couple of my friends have 300's they seem to like, and this popped up on facebook marketplace. So I snatched it up before somebody else did. Did a lot of research on youtube etc and the bike has excellent reviews.
First year they got rid of the oil injection and went to the TBI injection (into the crankcase vs the Cylinder) that has more of a perfectly jetted carb feel. I can attest to it feeling good with 4th gear wheelies no problem. 😲
I know it hasn't been ridden hard because the guy was calling the front forks, shocks. 😂
Can't wait to get it dirty. 😎

What a fun bike! Enjoy!!
WELL DONE, G-Man!
I had been riding 4-strokes all the way back to my 1998 YZ400f but worked out a great deal with another fellow Vi-tard… swapping my mint/low-time 23 YZ450 for his mint/low-time 23 300SX & I have been living my best 2-stroke hero dream ever since! That looks like a pristine XC & I hope you love it as much as I do mine!
Enjoy, Bud! 😎 👍❗️
Great buy! They run much better without the stock pipe and silencer.
Thanks motorick, i've been riding 4-strokes since 2001 and the awesome 426. Unfortunately lost that in a garage fire along with a 81RM125 Full Floater and mint 87 Honda Hurricane. The last two really hurt bad as those were lifetime keepers.
I still have my 06CRF450 though.
I realized after my little jaunt through the neighborhood that I had it on the white map. Supposedly, the green map is the hell raiser! 😲

Appreciate the input but at 67 years old, i've never been one of those guys that has to spend a bunch of money on a new bike. Even when I was younger, i've had friends that put every performance and accessory parts on bikes and I still motored pass them.
I'm sure it will be fine. But if I dent the pipe, I'll look into that. Thanks.
What I will be looking into is a pipe guard, radiator guards and maybe some different handguards as the Arizona desert can be brutal.

Best all around dirt bikes made IMO……stock maps are fine but if you want to see what they can really run like…Twisted or WMR can reflash the EcU for some serious gains…all on 93 pump…
Excellent!
"I know it hasn't been ridden hard because the guy was calling the front forks, shocks. 😂
Are there rear forks? 🤣
Sorry couldn't resist
The KTM XC line of bikes are amazing! The 300 can do it all! I prefer the 250, the 300 makes me lazy.
Enjoy!
Braaaaaap!
I have a feeling that my 60 year old-self must be cut from the same cloth as a G-Man! 😝
I still have/ride my 2007 Honda CRF450R regularly too! I think the 06/07/08 very well might still be the best generation Honda has turned out so far! Enjoy your new 300 & post up a report after a ride or two! 😎 👍❗️
Nice scoot Gary, maybe I'll see you out there
I have a mint 87' Hurricane in my front room
Ohh man, you and old tech are killing me with those pictures of your Hurricanes!!! 😲
Did you have them since new, do you still currently ride them? My god, those are incredible bikes and yeah like you, I would have kept mine forever! 😢
After I lost mine in the fire, it took me about a year before I got another street bike and then I ended up with a FZ1 that I absolutely love which turned out to be a good thing because I went on a lot of good long sport tour adventures (up HW1 to Laguna Seca) with my wife (RIP😥) who unfortunately passed away 14 months ago....
Wow, that bike is a thing of beauty! And I agree with you, those 3 years were some of the best years of the CRF450. Did you ever see the test Keefer did on that bike when he compared them to the current model? I believe his lap times were very similar and he really raved about those bikes.
Hahaha 😂
Thanks skeef--Let's Roll! 😎
Pit Row
I have a 25 125sx, just got a new pipe, it states to have the ecu reflashed before installing. Is that truly necessary?
My condolences. I hope you're doing alright.
I sure DID see that Kris Keefer article/test! Loved that he compared that older generation CRF to the new Honda & the old CRF held its own quite well! I am convinced the older bikes are still plenty fast & competitive for all but at the elite/pro level! 😁
AND… I am beginning to think I am just living the G-Man experience in an alternate universe! 😝
I too have had not one, but TWO FZ1’s and loved em both! The FZ is a great all-rounder and I have many fond memories around the southwest on em!
And… I am really sorry about the loss of your wife! I’ve been married 39 years now & truly cannot imagine my life minus my better half! Sending Good vibes & prayers your way Friend! 🙏 👍❗️
Okay, this is getting too weird. It's like we're clones of each other. I too had two FZ1's! 😲🤣
Here's the story. After about a year since the garage fire, I got the itch to get a 125 2 stroke cause after I lost my full floater beauty and was looking at Craig's list ads, I saw a 2002 FZ1-- Silver I called her, loved that bike. It was bone stock. I actually bought it at a pawn shop of all places only had 15,000 miles.
So now I join the FZ1 forum. I'm sure you're familiar with that is no longer around unfortunately. Anyway, somebody posted a 2001 FZ1 for sale and it had a lot of nice aftermarket parts that were not crazy just well, thought out like the Corbon seat with the backrest for my wife, I felt would be a good idea. It also had an Acropovic exhaust, JD jet kit etc and I purchased that one. And now I had two! 😂
I love these bikes for exactly what like you said. It's one of the best all around street bikes ever made for versatility.
One of the best things about these bikes is you can get them at a really good price and they're bulletproof! 👍
Thank you for the kind words about my Wife and believe me it has not been easy. I have so many fond memories of Jan, we did everything together and being at home is sad as well.
That is one reason I bought the 300. I've just been trying to stay as busy as possible.
Btw I see you have the skunk model. That's a cool color scheme. 👍
Thank you.I appreciate that very much, 🙏 it has been really hard if you want to know the truth. But I know in my heart, she would not want me to be sad and i'm trying not to. Not easy, though.
Dought it, I’d bolt it on and run it. But I run a loose ship
My dad bought this Hurricane brand new when I was 10 years old so it's always been in our family. About 4 years ago I decided to stop riding it and bring it in the house. It's just too nice and they are so hard to find in this shape anymore. I didn't want to risk something happening to it. It's got 16,100 miles on it, and for now will stay the centerpiece or my front room. I tease my old lady that I want to get more bikes for the living room and she says one is enough, lol. I do have a pretty mint 83' PW50 in my office though.
Oh man that's a cool story. And the fact you keep it in your living room is awesome!
You want to sell it? 😀
The one I posted is a customer's that I got running for them, it was in climate-controlled storage forever and had less than 3k miles. That didn't help the fuel system and brakes though, but it turned out great and ran like new. I personally am on my third first gen SV650 and thought you would enjoy the pic.
Finally got to try out the new two smoke. It was pretty cool easy to ride. Felt a lot like my 350XCF-W, very good handling and has good tractor like power and screams on top end! 😃
Now I have to buy some protective equipment for the pipe and hand guards not sure if I want to get the wraparounds like my 350.
And a larger fuel tank.
G-man, I remember quite well your heartbroken posts here when your better half passed. Sad to me then, and still sad now. However, my second thought is that you are trying to push through this tough hill climb part of your life. Without a doubt, you will have rough spots still along the way, but you seem to be making good days for yourself, and that is epically important. Best of Luck Sir !
Thank you Old school fool I really appreciate it. 🙏 You are 100%, correct. It has been a real struggle for me since Jan passed away 14 months ago.
And yes, I am trying to stay as busy as possible. Currently play billiard tournaments four times a week now, I’ve made a lot of new great friends.
But nobody will replace my loving wife Jan. She was an amazing woman who was always so generous and sweet with everybody.
Matter of fact deep into her four and a half year battle with cancer, she asked me if I wanted a new motorcycle. I politely declined as I felt like I did not need one at the time but really appreciated what a sweet offer that was.
