So Trump said NATO stayed behind the front line in Afghanistan
I know Australians who were there. Close to 50 Australians died. Close to 500 from the UK
Why would he say that?
Megalomaniac, narcissist psychopath
Bullies never win
He is destroying the USA from the inside
Why?
Well boy, you're in good company around here.
This place is infested with whiney ass TDS sufferers.
Enjoy your misery.
I don’t think I would categorize his question as “whiney ass”.
Imagine fighting in a stupid fucking war because the USA triggered article 5 and then an orange draft dodger tells you you didn’t really do anything when 100s of your colleagues were killed.
You know that when all someone can respond to Trump criticism with is 'TDS', they are cult.
I mean, come on. Who in this world has not been even a little bit critical at one time or another of those in their lives they truly otherwise love? But - you can't or don't dare have one critical word for a political leader that is otherwise nothing to you?
Truly mind boggling - this world is severely messed up.

Works for the Russians. Thats why
Just a guess
"He is destroying the USA from the inside Why?"
If you're really worried about the US, sleep well tonight, we're doing just fine. As a matter of fact we're better than fine. OR, if this is just another thread to complain about Trump (which likely is). Yahn. Biggest weather event in recent time and you're worried about something someone said. 🙄
Aw, let em' have their little TDS thread.
It'll be a nice gathering place for their group therapy sessions.
Trump needs to focus on the job. Which does not include denigrating our allies. The man’s inferiority complex is dictating policy, which should focus on issues like national debt. Instead he uses the White House to pursue trivial matters and create economic instability. It’s not “America First”, it’s “Trump First”.
And yes, his comments concerning NATO forces are insulting to anyone who wore a uniform. Including the United States military.
the world learned how easy it was to manipulate trump and his base during his first term
now here we are. alienating ourselves further while morons in the cult think america is doing "just fine". all while ignoring that the guy raped kids. insane timeline.
I voted for that piece of shit. Feel free to come over and kick my face in. I deserve it.
Canada lost 158 soldiers on the frontlines of Afghanistan. Within weeks our special operations soldiers (JTF2) were on the ground and operating alongside US forces. Our conventional troops were there shortly after.
By early 2002 we were conducting combat operations around Kandahar which was one of the most dangerous sectors.
From 2005 we were the lead nation in Kandahar province, one of the Taliban's strongholds. Kandahar saw some of the heaviest fighting of that war.
We also lead Operation Medusa. One of the largest ground battles of the war. We lost 12 soldiers in that battle.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Medusa
Bottom line, we were there early, assigned one of the most dangerous regions, conducted clearing operations, counter insurgency patrols, were heavily engaged, and paid a significant price in lives.
If there's something I can't stand it's disrespect for soldiers, so for that statement alone he can go fuck himself.
@Joey Bridges It's not about TDS. It's about respect.
USMC veteran:
I disagree- The left has completely abandoned all their positions and only opposes everything Trump does or says. He clearly plays into this and the left falls for it every time..
The left used to stand for something…today nothing at all..Hopefully you all find your way back.
Edit: I did think of something, Pocahontas and Trump agree on capping cc rates..
Edited:
Sounded less snarky about a serious topic before I posted it. Didn’t want anyone to get confused and think that I was disagreeing with Mav’s post so I posted the sentiment again without quoting him.
I disagree. Disagreeing with or criticizing something Trump (or the other side) says or does, does not mean that disagreement or criticism comes from the left (or the other side). A trap that embracing partisan politics lays.
It's OK to disagree or criticize even if it is 'your side' - it will not send you to hell. May even be enlightening. This particular one should be an easy and straightforward one. Unless blinders are in effect.
Outstanding post!
It’s pretty wild watching people echo/support rhetoric that denigrates allied troops when it’s coming from a guy who dodged service with a “bone spurs” diagnosis.
When it comes to NATO:
You want to argue burden-sharing? Fine.
You want to argue alliances? Fine.
You want to argue America-first isolationism? Own it.
But trashing volunteer soldiers while worshipping a draft-dodger’s tough-guy posturing isn’t ‘strength’, it’s just upside-down moral math.
Real courage doesn’t come from microphones and podiums. It comes from boots, deployments, and graves.
Pit Row
Well, he’s certainly triggered.
In all honesty, plenty of people died in Green Zones, in transport (IED, road attacks) and even in air transports. That war knew no sanctuary when it came to death.
All the while, I get it…people are triggered by The Donald.
I saw your original post. I got the humor behind it.
That said, I don't care which side of the political fence anyone is on, when it comes to men and women fighting and defending our countries, and losing their lives so that we can live in peace, have some respect for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.
If you can't, STFU, and at least pretend you do.
Interesting…and it explains the mindset…
Why does America 1st have to, also, equate to “Isolationism”?
How easy so it to morph something into what you want it to be just to dishonestly make your point? And, to be clear, I do mean that uncharitably.
I get the idea of America 1st. It’s representative of a question that should be asked -before- diplomatic and other actions are taken…aka, “Why are we doing this?” or “What’s in it for us?”
That doesn’t include isolationism from where I’m standing and I find it very interesting how often some of you attempt to pollute things with your own perceptions that are more than “skewed”.
But, again, I digress.
Mr. Speaker,
I’d like to second the opinions shared by the distinguished gentleman from Canada.
I yield back.
Can't be mad at this point. He himself doesn't even know whats coming out of his mouth. He's a dementia patient.
Watch his speak at Davos in full length, not the only the snippets making it into news, and there is no denying he's having serious cognitive issues.
LL, I get you don't like Trump. And your very loyal to military. Oddly enough, military pride (no, not the gay kind lol) is way up under Trump. If you get caught up in the weeds of every comment, you'll not be able to step back and see Trump has been wildly successful in just his first year. Obliterating Iran's nuclear program, unprecedented investment in USA by foreign money to create American jobs, closing the border with existing laws, stopping many wars using our economic power, getting Europe to take on more responsibility for their own defense and contributing more to NATO. The list goes on. Do you really think 40 years from now historians are going to dwell on this? There's no person that's going to do everything you're going to agree with, shit not even you live up to that. You ever look back and say to yourself "why did I do that"?

Trump is pretty offensive to everything we hold sacred; religion, military service, patriotism, etc. Historians have already reflected and will continue to reflect on how so many people were so eager to urinate on everything they held sacred for a variety of selfish reasons. Not to imply that there is any category of person exempt from our increasing trend of bitterness and selfishness, the entire country is balls deep in it right now.
No one said ‘America First’ = isolationism by definition, that’s a strawman.
But when the posture consistently degrades alliances, treats partners as expendable, and frames cooperation as weakness, the outcome is isolation whether you like the label or not. Outcomes (should) override branding.
Asking ‘what’s in it for us?’ is legitimate.
Pretending alliances, deterrence, and interoperability aren’t part of that answer is where the logic collapses.
The ‘dishonesty’ accusation is also rich coming from someone who regularly implies near top-secret access to military and geopolitical intel without ever producing anything concrete. Confidence isn’t credibility.
And the core point still stands. There’s something upside-down about trashing volunteer soldiers and allied forces while defending the tough guy rhetoric of a draft dodger.
And Manny, you’re not ‘digressing’. You’re deflecting.
I agree with almost all of the above. But that doesn’t entitle a pass on every single action. Turning a blind eye to Trump’s egregious comments is silently condoning them. He could still achieve tremendous success while promoting US policy without the petulant statements. What value was gained by those comments?
I have zero issue with pushing Europe and the rest of NATO to do more of the heavy-lifting and be less reliant on the US. I’m completely on-board with redressing that balance and rearming for a more unstable world. In all those things Trump has been absolutely consistent and 100% correct.
I’m not cool with the commander in chief of the US making the assertion that NATO troops hid from the front lines. That’s not pressuring governments, or addressing imbalances, it’s actively deriding and taking away the sacrifice of thousands of NATO personnel who came back maimed or who gave the ultimate sacrifice purely for the principle of standing by an ally. It’s a slap in the face to mothers and fathers of young men and women who didn’t come home, it’s derisive, morally repugnant and the words of a fucking coward.
Anyone who thinks UK troops weren’t on the front lines should go and have a look what the Royal Anglian regiment went through in Sanghin during Herrick 6. Fucking hung back a bit my arse.
There's a lot of statements that I'd rather didn't get said. And I'm not taking the position that the comments are right or wrong. The point is, the faux outrage from every comment means when there is a legitimate time to speak up nobody will listen. And most of us are at that point that we're just tired of the every day narrative of Orange Man Bad.

TDS is a knife that cuts both ways. It isn't just those that think Trump can do nothing right, it also includes those that think Trump can do no wrong. Much better to just discuss the topic on the merits, than to excuse things as TDS (in either direction).
