My buddy has one, good solid bike, no EFI, he put a pipe on it and changed the gearing, bike is good to go! Not alot different engine wise then the 09, plastic and some small changes, but the yamahas are bulletproof from what i ve heard. If i was gettin a 2010 250f id get the rmz or crf, i can get a better deal on them. IMO you can t go wrong either color, get a good dealer, some aftermarket stuff and your set! I bet next year yamaha will have efi on the 250f.

efi is good but I am not to concerned about it. I am mainly concered with reliability. I cant afford another KTM lol! I loved the bike more than any other I have ridden but something broke everytime I rode it.

You can get new 10's right now for 5500 out the door at the dealers. Huge rebates on them.

Well proven motor that's for sure reliability wise. Maybe not the horsepower king of the class but it will keep chugging for at least 3 years no probs depending on your air filter maitenence, rev sensibilty and the amount of use you cram in in that time. They do everything well and with a little personal setup with suspension revalving and tailering the power curve to your liking with pipe, cam and ignition changes, it will be the best bike you ever owned. I like good low to mid grunters and had good results with a Hot Cams stage one inlet camshaft in my WR250F.

Thanks for all the comments. I have been on a 2010 yz265 2-stroke for a while and the price on the F is almost to good to turn down. I have been wanting one.

we just bought a 2010, have been running them since 06. motors the same, add a pipe to get a little more top end, jet it correctly for your area and they are good for quite awhile. My son says the 10 turns way better than his 09 and feels different but is getting used to it quickly.

Minimal changes since 2001 & bulletproof since 2001. Only problem I've seen was the cogs bending on 3rd gear once - it was an 06 bike. Almost seemed like a manufacturer defect in that the gear hardly showed any wear, but all the cogs were bent slightly.

Stick to the 2 stroke and replace it with a new one!

I am keeping my 2 stroke. I am wanting something that I can run in the lites class. My 2 stroke is a 265 making it illegal to run in the lites. I thought about buying another 250 2 stroke for a practice/lites bike. But this one is just such a good deal and I like the 250fs pretty good. Just thinking about it. Havent made up my mind for sure.

Congrats man, good luck on with whatever you get, maybe you can post some pics when you get it, The pipe and sprocket do make a difference! Suspension first though.

I love mine! handles WAYY better than the previous years. Add a pipe, 2 stroke filter cage, 13-50 gearing, and move the clip to the #4 position and your set! mine has 18 hrs on it and the valves have remained in spec since I got it. I ride pro just to give you a gauge to how well the valvetrain is.

We did a 151 kit and fell in love with it! Bought a used 08 125 and sent the motor to maxx power, gave my kid the choice of a new 250f or this and he jumped on the 2t!We had a 144 done with just the bore and while it was ok it is NOTHING like a stroked bike!!

I'd have to disagree with the reliable comments on the YZ250F. Plus the engine has basically had no improvements since it appeared in 2000. Weakest of all the 250F's at this point.

That recall in 06 to replace all those cylinder heads might say otherwise too. Still, same basic engine since 01 models.

Sorry to tell you watch the video and learn. Crank, head and cylinder are all the same, hell yeah the bike is totally different. Yamaha has the same old rehashed shit every year, ohh wait they put new plastics on it with a higher price tag to cover the loss they are taking on left over 06,07,08, and 09's, hell yeah its completely redesigned.

Yeah I would bash the rehashed shit and just not a buy a new bike from a manufacturer that has made zero attempt at updating anything, thats why my future bike will be a KTM 150SX.

About fixing what ISN'T broke, same motor for 10 years and is currently the weakest out there, which can still be seen grenading on the sides of your local tracks with $2,000.00 plus repair bills, and they are trying to figure out why the sales are not through the roof.

Upwards of ten grand in engine mods and it cranks out three less hp than a stock 250 2 stroke. No wonder this sport has fallen on hard times. The 250F class is supposed to be "the up and coming" class. Sad fact is a privateer effort is going to need a couple of those engines to get through a season. Yikes!

Get some reading comprehension, dipshit.

He said he'd "have to disagree with the reliable comments".

I told him he could disagree but that he would be wrong.

I never said anything about the motor design being 10 years old.

I saved my old piston. Looks weird with the valve sticking through it backwards. LOL, what a mess that was.
