Picked up a very low hr 2001 ..3 years ago..went through it didn’t need much…PC pipe & silencer, Vforce, apex head and jetting….Ti shock spring from an older yz450…RG3 top clamp…forks rebuilt by BillyThe kid😎…upgraded front brake to Cr style routing steel braided line….Finally got a few hrs on it this past summer, mostly at my friends private Vet Sx track and Parker Mx…..Shocked at how good this bike still is…fast and handles great…should have brought it down to Florida with me but took my CR125 …..IMG 7639 1.jpeg?VersionId=FZ7JdjgGvwdQg7X2

Super clean looking. And Billy is the man! The beginning of the 2nd video I linked is me doing my best to keep up to his crazy ass for a lap. Surprised I never ran into ya at Parker before, I go there pretty often. Not as much this year but still went like 5-6 times, love that place

I live 20-25 minutes from Parkers…did not go as much as usual the last few years due to injuries and so many other local tracks to ride…I love Parkers track, best dirt around! I like the changes he made this past year and rode a bunch of Thursdays…hopefully see you there in 26…I have several bikes I ride, most are #768…

I also am in love with my 03 250. Bought it at the beginning on Covid as a complete basket case and rebuilt it from the ground up. Seems like the only things I didn’t replace were the frame, cases and transmission. I split my time riding with it with my KTM 350 and really enjoy it. Currently rebuilding it again over the winter. Right now I’m waiting for the crank to come back after getting a new rod installed. I had a 2003 shock that Enzo built paired with modern sss forks, handles everything I can throw at it. Haven’t really gotten to ride it yet so I have no clue how the suspension will be. I did read some cool bike builds on here where they put the modern stuff on there. Think that would be worth looking into?

If you want to run SSS forks, they slip right into ‘04 triple clamps. I am running Emig Racing clamps now. If you decide on doing SSS forks I’ll gladly send you my stock ‘04 clamps for just the cost of shipping. I didn’t need aftermarket clamps, I did them because I’m a sucker for plain silver billet clamps.

When you slip SSS forks into the '05 Aluminum frame or '04 and previous steel frame stock triple clamps, technically your front wheel will be 1mm offset to the right from center.

This is because the '06 (first year of SSS on Yz 2 strokes) triple clamps moved the forks 2mm farther apart.  The lugs account for this.

So, if you want to use stock, '05 and previous year triple clamps, and want your wheel 100% centered, trim 1mm off the left side wheel spacer and you're good to go.

I know because I ran this setup on my '05 for awhile before buying a newer set of triple clamps.

I didn't bother with trimming the wheel spacer, and didn't notice a difference, but if you want the wheel centered, that's what it takes.

If you do pick up an '06 or newer set of triple clamps, make sure to use an unmodified wheel spacer.

They are OG GYTR carbon frame guards. I also have the GYTR skid plate under the engine. I have an extra NOS set if you’re interested in. I don’t know the paint code, I’d like to find out for myself also. This bike was so original that it still had the Yamaha plastics on it when I found it.
