Yikes, that would be nasty. Good luck with your recovery.

For others like myself, this is according to Google AI

Vitrectomy is an eye surgery that removes the vitreous, a gel-like substance filling the eye, to allow a surgeon to access and repair the retina. It is used to treat conditions like retinal detachment, bleeding in the eye, and scar tissue on the retina, and can be performed with local or general anesthesia. The removed vitreous is replaced with a sterile saline solution, a gas bubble, or silicone oil to help the retina heal in the correct position.

And AI says trump  sucks. Get real , get it done  for yourself then comment. They rip your balls right out. For as cheap as they can cause your insurance pays it. Oh wait  I talking about when my cat got a vasectomy or me, lmao

I had never heard of it before either.

I take my mom in every 12 weeks to get shots in her eyes for wet macular degeneration. It's helping save her site . Every visit i believe they charge Medicare $5000.

edit to say, at 93 years old mom had to give up moto. But if it weren't for these damn shots! 😄

Someone close to me has had this done in both eyes.  If your retina detached and was repaired, I would be very careful, and protect your eyes.

Motocross is really cool, but so is being able to see.

I would ask your surgeon about the risk of re-detaching the retina.

Add it to the list of fun surgeries that I've had. Detached retina- besides my two amputated fingers it's the only surgery I will never completely recover from. My vision in my right eye sucks, depth perception and field of view aren't great. Really sucks trying to see ruts and when the light is low or when the sun is in my eyes. Super frustrating I really appreciate  bright good vision days riding. When the retina detached it was completely black in my right eye zero vision so I'm glad to have what I still have.

Thanks guys for all the positive vibes. It's been about 7 weeks.  Shits still blurry and low light conditions suck. The good thing is I'm 20/15 in my right eye but depth perception is not good. My Retina MD says it will take a few months to get back to normal.  So I'm praying 🙏  I'm not done with moto.  I've got waaay too many bikes🤣
