I have a 2020 ktm 150sx that has a mikuni tmx 38 right now. Im thinking to do a carb swap later down the line if I cannot get the Mikuni running ideal. The thing is there are 2 keihin pwk 38 on the market. One is a lot more expensive, the keihin pwk 38 airstryker ag short body at 500 usd vs the keihin pwk 38s ag short body at like 100 usd. Looks like the 38s was for ktm 125sx from 2009 to 2013. Not sure what will work for mine.

There are a lot of knock-off carburetors from China out there. Especially on places like eBay, Amazon, etc.
I can tell you for sure, that you won't find a new carb for $100 unless it's a replica.
If you're trying to upgrade the bike, I'd stick with genuine Keihin or Mikuni carburetors and jets.
The JD Jetting carb for $500 is probably legit...

The lower one is a counterfeit. With the counterfeits, you might get a good one, you might get a bad one, there is little to no quality control on the fakes.
You want the one with the bolt on top like shown in those pictures, goes by many names Short Body, AG, S, etc.... You don't want the PWK with the round thread on top as it is a little over an inch longer motor to airbox side making for a really tight fit.
A real PWK 38 Short Body should be around $500.00. I have seen fakes advertised at the higher price to throw people off, make sure to buy from a reputable source to ensure you get a real one.
Ktm 150 2016 oem keihin is around 350. Get the manifold also
Is the manifold necessary?
Also is it the 38s or just 38

So is the 38s going to be the same as the 38?
It's the the right one for your bike x2
Those were the good ole days. They are $493 now.
Do you think I can get the mikuni running as good as a keihin with diggers spec and slide mod ect? I would like to not break the bank on a keihin unless I have to lol
What? Damn.
Yes and no.
Ive got the mikuni setup on both a 125 and 150 2018. Mikuni when dialed is crisp and clean and runs well.
Also did stic pwk on both bikes, power is more abrupt and wild. Better for mx imo. But people whine fhe 150 makes no top end or hits too hard. Mainly people that never owned either bike or setup
Yes I know the stic pwk is next level but that would be even more out of my budget. The most I would do is just a regular Ole pwk from keihin jetted for my bike. Stock for stock does the mikuni compare do you think? Also im hoping diggers specs get me pretty bang on which a lot of people say they do.
Get the mikuni working, its a great setup once dialed
I was running a Keihin 38 on my 2022 150sx, not sure what model exactly but it was the one off a YZ250. Ran like a bat outta hell with diggers settings and a TSP head insert.
