Blankets have a tough time covering your legs.

OK, I'll as a non rhetorical question:

What does the new JT have to do with Ed Hardy? I keep hearing that but no-one explains the relation. I refuse to buy anything remotely related to Ed Hardy so I hope it's not true.

The new stuff would look even better if they could use the names of the companies. That is what is missing!

Actually , he did always have a Blue Glow around him. Something to do with Bel-Ray.

The amount of douchebaggery in this place is astounding.

1. I know who all of those guys are..but the kids don't and don't really give a shit who they are. Even if they acknowledge their achievements that doesn't mean they know shit about what looks good to people today. To kids they are a bunch of middle aged men. Think of it as the J-law effect. The more middle aged men that hate him, the bigger his fan base. Kids love to rebel.

2. I don't know their business plan. I was pretty pumped when I heard they were coming back. However, to me and this is just my opinion it's an epic fail to make what is basically copies of the old gear. Although I remember gawking at JT gear in MXA 20 years ago, the shit by today's standards is ugly as hell. When it comes to gear the 12-24 demographic is KING. Older guys might buy it, but they are most likely going to buy closeout gear from Motosport for $80 than pay $200 for gear because they don't care what they look like. I am not saying no one will buy it, people buy wolfsport and ocelot too, but I can't imagine it taking off like it did in the 80's.

You guys are way too emotional about the gear and not thinking rationally. I hope they succeed and but I just think they could have done a better job with the design.

Marketing 101. Release the limited edition retro gear first... that makes the "vets/bad knees" crowd happy... then hello... bam... "ed hardly" meets motocross... and then comes the skulls an bones tribal patterns for the end of the world gear... just in time for 2012... hum we'll all leave happy lol... the real question is... is the "new looking" gear as good working as the old... graphics are second over performance... imo... ;-)

"Stiff competition from Lancer put them under"

LOL now THAT was funny (and yes, I know you were joking).

And from what I can remember Steve, TBteam nailed it spot on (and he would know).

Although I also agree with GrapeApe that JT was just starting to slide a tad bit in the end. John and Rita got out at the right time, and good for them, they certainly deserve it!!

Ha ha , wasn't the Honda factory team forced to wear Hondaline gear back in the day? I think I remember Stanton rocking the Hondaline gear.

I've seen a lot of references to JT in the last couple months and of course now, but no info on Eric Johnsons excellent article. It has to be the most researched and detailed account of what went down available. It took me awhile to find on an old hard drive.

If it was so awesome before, and everyone loved the gear so much, what happened that they quit making moto gear in the first place, and had to make a comeback?
I would like to know the "inside" reason they pulled out of motocross and switched to paint ball also.

Like Chuck Sun said in the interview they left the sport of mx when they were on top.

It was not lack of killer product design or sales. They just wanted out of the sport of motocross I guess.

......In Rita's own words, "Yes, it's true. We sold to a paintball supplier. We had taken their Wal-Mart account in the paintball goggle business and they decided to buy us out. The sad part is that they totally dropped the ball on motocross. They didn't know what they had."

Thanks for the inside scoop on the real reason. Can't blame them for selling the company. Shit it's the only reason you start a company in the first place.

Some old guys will buy it, but that's about it. I think it's too retro. This sport is what? 80% kids? They don't give a shit about JT and weren't even born when it went away. I mean they have a bunch of middle aged men talking about how awesome it is in the RacerX video! There couldn't possibly be a better 12-24 customer deterrent than middle aged men. I am sure Kids are going to flock to gear that is endorsed by the dockers and polo crowd. Who ever is behind this I feel is making a big mistake. As Jo said, if they incorporated the old with the new like ONE does/did then it might have taken off.

Marc Blanchard is not part of One Industries anymore (since March I think). JT should re-hire him as soon as possible... Don't know from whom comes the idea for the Bailey replica, but that's exactly the kind of product I was expecting from JT for its come-back (or his return, cause Dray said in a french interview: " JT racing, it's ME!!!"). A modern cut plus a classy design...

Fair enough. That must have been painful to watch.

I ride a 2006 YZ450 in Champions Edition Yellow and Black! Love the throwback look (ALL Yamahas used to be bumble bee black and yellow dangit) and the new JT gear will allow me to live in the 80's at least for a few laps at a time....Love the stuff. And the 40 year olds that like JT will buy it for their kids too, so the kids will be wearing JT gear in 2011...I'm just sayin.

I'm kind of interested in it as well. Being 23, I'm not sure about having only the retro styles, but I definitely wouldn't mind checking some out. I was big into competition paintball before I started riding and racing MX, and the team I played for wore JT...the stuff was super durable, functional and comfortable.
