I feel stupid even bringing this up but I am at my wits end with these things. I have been a motorcycle mechanic for 20 years now and ive never seen anything like it. No matter what I do, I can not get the tire to stop spinning on the rim. I've used 4 different types of rim locks, 2 different brands of tire, 2 different brands of tubes. Still the same result. I have tried metal rim locks, plastic rim locks, torquing them to spec, over tightening them. Its driving me nuts. Our yamahas and kawasakis, the valve stem stays straight the entire life of the tire. These 2 hondas, every time he rides it the bike comes back with a hard leaning valve stem. I dont want to drop 1500 bucks on a wheel set but thats all im left with. I could put another rim lock in the wheel but I feel like thats extreme for a 250f.....

Why not just lace up a new rim? Cheaper than a new set of wheels.

Thats a viable option, my thought process is if I just buy a complete wheel set, ill have a spare set for emergency purposes.

Did you try a different rim lock? Maybe a Yamaha or Kawasaki one? Yamaha and kawi use excel rims and Honda uses did right?

What do you mount the tire with?

Is it still slippery after time?

I use wd40 or dawn. They both seem to get sticky after they dry.

Need a looong pull throttle ... make him twist it two times to get to WOT, haha.

Seriously, have you looked closely at how the rimlock sits in the valley of the rim?

As others said, use proper tire mounting paste/lube.

Dawn dish soap and water in a spray bottle

Spray some wd40 on a tire, wait a few days. From what I remember it gets sticky after it dries on tires.

I don't change a lot of tires, so test it yourself.

Are you sure the rimlock is the right size for your rim? They come in 1.60, 1.85, 2.15 and other sizes..

yes, 3 different 1.85 rim locks have been used. Warp 9 (has been my go to for years), stock, and motion pro. At this point i think im just going to add a second rim lock to the stock rear wheels

Also the did rim has 2 different sized holes the larger one is for the valve stem and the tighter one is for the rim lock

This is an excellent point! The small hole is for the rim lock  the big hole is for the valve stem. Gives the valve stem a little wiggle room  and holds the rim lock tighter in place

I don't like Dawn because it leaves some kind of a film on air filters so it’s probably the same on tires? I prefer Palmolive its cleaner with no film.

How thick is your spray mixture? Maybe just more water might help? I personally use straight Palmolive . Put a little on my finger and slide my finger across the surface.

All tires seem to eventually creep a little.
