Has anyone here had any luck getting in contact with CMT composites? I've messaged them on 3 different occasions on their customer portal and no one ever responds. I tried to get hold of them on Instagram and it just routes you to their website customer form. I am trying to find out if they do a tank for a yz450f 2023 model.
Needed some pieces from them awhile back and I had a similar experience. If I recall, I had ordered the parts from their site and they weeks went by without seeing them, and it took forever to get a reply, but they eventually did and I got the parts, but it was definitely 6 weeks or more from start to finish. Wish I could be more help!
Try https://www.pro-carbonracing.com/, they respond fast, and have a massive range.
Doesn’t star use their tanks? So they may make but not have on their site.
I just looked at their website. I refuse to do business with any company that does not offer a phone number and/or an email address.
Hopefully they eventually respond.

I was a dealer for them . But they are are not the best communicating sometimes , I did not stock a lot and mostly ordered when a customer wanted something. Sometimes they are quick to reply. I've had a few customers tell me they had their orders get stuck in customs when they ordered directly . They make amazing products .
I think that Star uses CRM Tanks .
There is also a CMTUSA that makes stuff for Honda HRC
They do have a Retailers tab at the top of the page that brings you to a map that shows dealers and if You scroll to the bottom of the page they have dealers and phone numbers listed for many countries. Perhaps the listed dealers stock a lot of product and that is why they are listed and my shop wasn't. Maybe one of those dealers will be able to help You out.
That's a good tip. Perhaps the OP can contact a retailer who deals with them
Thanks I've contacted one of the retailers. Hopefully they respond.
What are your guys opinions on carbon tanks? I see alot of GP bikes run them. Wasn't sure about ama and the rules but alot of googling tells me they are not as durable as plastic and it may be a safety hazard? To me the tank is pretty well tucked away to get damaged very easily. Main benifits would be to save quite alot of weight. I don't care about the look too much
Quality is very poor. Spent $500+ and everything has major flaws. Zero response.
I only had a few issues as far as quality parts with CMT Compositi the Italian company. Never have tried any of the CMT usa parts.
They offered to replace an item that cracked if I shipped it back so they could see why it failed. I think it was a tank cover and the crack wasn't visible when installed so the customer decided he didn't want to deal with the shipping back and forth because of the time it would take. They did say that if the cracks got worse it would be covered. I got a disk guard that the spacer on it looked like somebody tried to being machinist and used a chainsaw . I sent them photos and they replaced it and did not need the defective item returned. I kept it and may try adapting one of the mounts from an Acerbis disk guard to it and see if it works. If not, no big loss since its unusable as it is.
For the most part it was all very good quality that was on par or better than the other Carbon Fiber parts I've seen from Eline, Bud racing,Nihilo. Only issue I had that made me not want to keep selling their stuff was how it was sometimes difficult to get ahold of them even when placing an order. Sometimes stuff would also take a while to ship since they had to make it. And in stock only meant it was inline to be produced , not always meant that it was ready to ship.
I hope that they can change and fix the communications issue. I have had similar issues with other smaller high end euro brands that I import. Not being able to talk on the phone or zoom adds to it since some of the brands did not have english speaking sales people handling my accounts. So translations sometimes caused trouble when asking for a part that I did not have a part number for. After I learned to use terms that translated better there was less confusion.
I’d love a carbon KTM tank that held a little more fuel. Would be sweet-if a company that was good to deal with made one, especially in the USA
Manny? Come on bro
There is also the Issue of a completely unrelated carbon fiber company -CMT USA. That's my company, we have been CMT USA since 1999. We ran our first add in cycle news in 2003. 27 major championships. Factory trusted, proven and thoroughly tested by guys like Canard, Keefer, Stapleton, Brayton etc.
We get back to everyone 👍

Not a shill for anyone, but Coal-Train builds a good product. Not the cheapest, but great quality and follow up. Never met him, probably never will, but the product is first rate.
Not to completely derail this thread or anything but what the hell is this? Is this safe for work?
I’m glad you mentioned this, I assumed it was the same company.
That’s shitty having the euro company potentially influencing your customers.
Can you build some ktm tanks???
Funny-thing, the carbon-fiber tank I have…? It is a CMT. 🤣
Tanks aren’t something we do. Not enough qty to justify them for the way we do things.
Coal-Train is likely your guy if ya want it done domestically. Go look up his under-water camera enclosures. Nice stuff. Very nice stuff.
I tried looking at the site they show on the bottoms of the banners, but its no longer a site.
Underwater camera housings . Waterproof cases for higher end pro cameras.
Actually yes we're in process currently
The camera housings which I was part of was a separate entity is no longer. Been years since those were discontinued.

Thank you Manny I appreciate the kind words
Didn’t know the changes regarding what you made then versus now. Always been impressed by your creativity.
If material availability is ever a problem, call a fellow “little black slivers in our fingers” brother. We’ve always got some Toray laying around.

Thanks for letting me know. When I posted the contact info I realize now that I did not make it very clear that You were a separate company from CMT italy . I thought it was pretty obvious , since the logos were different and and so on. But I realize now it wasn't clear at all the way I wrote it out.
Years ago when I first started out making MX graphics I used the name I had used while painting helmets as a kid and young adult. TS designs. But there was a T shirt company with the same name and a local graphic company to me with a similar name TSS graphics. After a few years of confusion I decided to change my company name before I tried growing more. I had people think they had ordered from me but they had ordered from the other company, or vice versa. Lucky for me at the time we both had decent reps and it didn't hurt too badly. I'm sure I got some orders from people thinking I was the other guy and the same with them.
Now years later, I'm helping my mom out and my rep for getting stuff done quickly or being good with communication has taken a hit while I help her on her road to the end. I'm re organizing and trying to get things running smoothly again while she's still around. So right now I'm not really looking to add more to my plate. But at some point in the future I will likely contact You for some info on being a dealer if You have a dealer program.
Yeah it's kinda been confusing for some people. But after 27 years we are CMT USA for good. Thanks everyone for the support and kind words. I've put everything that I am as a person into this and I'm grateful to get to do what I do.
Out of curiosity, anyone know the weight differences of CF, Ti, HDPE, and PA-6 tanks? Do the CF manage to lower any of the fuel?
I'm sure the tanks are slightly lighter, but I think the biggest advantage is being able to create a custom slightly larger tank for outdoors and such. Much cheaper than making a rotomold for a few plastic tanks.
Update.....Still no reply 😂
Carbon tanks suck. I had one on my YZ250 from CMT and it leaked. Looked awesome but not worth it
Post a reply to: CMT composites does not respond?
