unreal find dannyd. when i get an hr tomorrow i'm gonna watch that whole thing and decide weather that (missing a prime dogger) , 85 or 2011 upcoming is the best that sx ever offered.

face it, if all is healthy, this 450 season could reinvent the sport, just like the 250 class has for the last two years. stoked!!

Yeah.. Were you at that race as well? I , like 1/2 the crowd , stayed and watched LW do his victory tour around the stadium. You just don't see the kind of emotion we saw from LW after that win any more. LW was beside himself and the fans fell in love w/him because of that. Up to that point LW was the only NW rider we had to be proud of. I lost my voice for a week after that race. The only similar feeling before or since I got at a sx was watching RV win his first SX back in 09. I'd have to say the place was twice as loud back in 1990 for LW though. That may because we were inside a dome that amplified the crowd 10x;s more.

Yeah Dan...I was there! There is a little story behind how I even ended being able to go. I was living at this frat / party house with like 6 room mates and had no money to my name. The local rock station KGON was giving away Seattle SX tickets....my buddy Jimmy called....and friggin' won two tickets!! We scrounged up enough gas money for the trip and we got to see the race! That place went crazy after Larry won!

Also....you have to remember about 10 years ( exactly ) US NW guys were cheering for ol' Chuck Sun in the 500cc nats! I remember watching him win at the Carlsbad 500 USGP on wide world of sports.

I still have pics though of Larry Ward on his DMC KX 80's at Woodland MX.

If I could get my damn scanner to work.....I have a shit load of old woodland photos. I also have a huge amount of washougal National photos from 1982 on. Jesus Christ.....as far as that goes.....I have a full on library of race videos from 1982 to current as well. Maybe one of these years I'll actually get them all converted to DVD. The friggin' quality sucks though coming off of a 25-30 year VHS tape.

That's an awesome story. Did you happen to go to the last race at the kingdom? 98/99 I think. i was there but forget which year it was. When Larry Ward won there again. MC and someone else crashed in turn one which allowed Wardy to get away. Another awesome day at the kingdom. I believe they imploded it soon after that race.... My bad on the Chuck Sun thing. I was a Californian or Las Vegan back then.

Jeff.. Take a picture of the picture with your phone and email it to yourself. Then go into the email and save the pic to the computer. From there just right click the image and click view image. Then post that bad boy. I never saw LW on the DMC and would love to. Willy Surrat , back in indian dunes days, had the sickest DMC kx80 i ever saw.

I was there in 1990 and also at the last race,I think it was 99.

That last race at the King Dome was quite a bender for me and a my buddy of mine.
We got so wasted that night that we got lost trying to find where we parked the truck at. LOL
Vomiting drunk, it took us like 2 hours to find it and once we did ,we went inside and passed out for a while.I had finally woken up and my buddy was still out cold.
So I called my girlfriend, she got a friend to drive her up to Seattle and drop her off so she could drive us back to The Couve. She wasn't to happy LOL.

Good times. I to was pretty lit that night. I was there w/Ryan Capes, Randy Futrell and Frank Swetz and I remember very little. We didn't even try finding our car. lol

That Oklahoma track looked really interesting. In fact a lot of those old tracks seem more technical and varied than today's supercross tracks.
Wonder why that is.

Every decade they use 50% of the amount of dirt. Look at the tracks from the 80's......up into the stands....full fields of dirt......then the 90's ..........now the 10's.......1/3 the dirt. 1/3 the cost but the same profits. It keeps getting worse.....wait until this year. Matthes has been very vocal about this but no one cares so we need to stop caring also. It's winter so they could run them in the parking lot and we would all watch and bench race about it. Feld knows this all to well.

Actually now that you mention it, it really does look like all the jumps etc are smaller than they used to be.
