Well they pay the bills for a good portion of the people in this industry and are the reason a good amount of people have a job. If not for the coombs family, this sport would not be where it is today.

I think DC puts out a wonderful catalog every month.
Me too. But I did let my subscription expire, my Dennis Kirk is free and has less ad's.

Whatever sport you are speaking of must not be motocross, what are you reading
and participating 20+ times a year in? Lawnmower racing?

Agreed

If not for the coombs family, this sport would not be where it is today.

Agreed but the same can be said for many other family’s that have dedicated their lives to this sport. Family’s like the Peters, Moorewoods, Hendrickson’s, Surber’s and many others. The list could go on forever.

They can be all they can be WITHOUT DC's dirty tricks.

In fact, if he didn't spent so much time chasing his critics like a petty banana republic dictator, they probably would be richer and make you even more proud. The term people in this industry use under their breath is "Morgantown Mafia."

I didn't coin that term or make that up. It's real. You just don't know enough about the true business.

The Morgantown Mafia behavior is actually a liability for the NPG tracks, and most of them want DC to STFU too. He's embarassing them. Focus on racing and business, not games and bullshit.

There is an easy fix and the fix is not shut them down. The fix is shut DC the fuck up.

-BoobyM

Blow it out your ass! You are referring to my brave reporting on how the contract situation really unfolded, which was factual, not DC spin.

The proof is in their behavior. For months, DC & crew panicked and acted like they were on the chopping block, because they were. The AMA was going with an alternative on purpose and they knew it, and I knew it. Proof #2, and this one is so obvious, I'm surprised people missed it. The AMA would have just handed them the contract last year and saved the headache - if they wanted to, and they didn't. That's really all the proof you need to verify that all I wrote about it is factual.

Knowing and reporting unpopular facts is not taking a side. It's called doing it right.

Besides, even if I DID jump on board and write editorials called "Shut them down and hire the Euros," it would be no different than a newspaper's editorial staff taking it's position on who the paper endorses for president, governor, or mayor.

Newspapers state their opinions on those things every day. If they endorse the losing candidate, life goes on. The paper doesn't pack up and move.

That is retarded.

What is strange about this situation is people make the comment you did, and don't even realize how much they are talking like a (pardon the expression) "communist."

Commie!

DC bet all his chips on keeping people on Mototalk where he can manipulate it.

That's why he flip-flopped on Toe and started kissing his ass (DMXS a few weeks ago). A year ago, Toe was black balled for something he said. Now they need him.

Exactly and if the Coombs family packed up and left the sport tomorrow life would go on. Someone else would pick up their piece of the pie and not much would really change.

After all isn’t that what this is all about, some ones piece of the pie?

Well, you can piss and moan all you want about DC and his crew. I've heard the "Mafia" term before about them. The same thing goes in pretty much any fringe sport. Thats what moto is in case no one noticed. So what? You don't like it, change it. Oh, wait, you can't. You can say you know this or that and it would crush the industry if you let it out. I really doubt it. Even if you knew something that is so detrimental to the sport. Who will believe you? A few guys on some moto board? Thats not really going to change things. Your just pissed because DC got tired of your shit and said no more. You picked the wrong people to align yourself with. You fucked up and now you have to deal with it. Go ahead and try to take DC down and let me know how that goes for you.

Nothing like that is or ever was on my agenda.

I'm just shutting down DC's abuses by exposing them. It stops there.

I don't chime in on the "anti coombs" or anti mx sports stuff much. In fact I don't think I ever have. but you know it's pretty simple. ANY ONE in business like the dave senior was and now the kids are going to do the best they can to make the best business they can.

It will piss people off because they have strong ties to the industry and can use those ties for an advantage. forget all the pro bullshit, the amatuer championship is the BEST AND WORST example.

does mx sports need AMA for a champinoship series anymore hell no.

but as long as it is the way it is, well they will be fine.

fringe sport like Matt says ubet it is, but as it gets bigger the people in power want to keep it, and more are looking for a piece of the pie. thats why you get all the bantering on a post board.

I don't like much of the issues in this problem, but no one can argue that their organization does pretty well and if they kick someone to the curb they don't like well it sucks but it's life.
I am more a spectator when it comes to this pro stuff but on the amatuer side of things it has hit close to home a number of times when they have made decisions or got thier people in the right places that affect me. thats when we get pissed out here in the field.

I am guessing you are talking about Loretta's - Danya and I were told we were welcome to come and shoot! but we decided not to. She was working fulltime here in Vegas at that point and I was burned out on the industry and needed the break. plus we were trying to establish ourselves here in town.

It was our decision to stay home.

besides, in 2006 I shot every single holeshot (99 motos) and every single rider on that track in 90 degree and 100% humidity. Its a grueling event that I did vending for only 2 years. If I ever chose to Vend LL's again I would want help.

Also..when we got to Vegas our HOA wouldnt let us park our trailer here and it wasnt cost effective to pay 140 bucks a month to keep it in storage so we could vend at 1 race (remember - we didnt go to a single outdoor national in 2007) it wasnt from being blackballed, it was from deciding we were tired of living in a car and hotels for 3 years with 4 children.

That shit got old - had nothing to do with not being allowed. I always thought if I did this or did that I could be blackballed, but in 8 years of shooting moto and running my mouth pretty hard at times, I have never been cast away! hell, even strobegate didnt end my career!
