Now....who pays to rebuild Gaza? Or, another way to look at it , who profits from rebuilding Gaza?

The vast military industrial complex.,,, Make money selling bombs then make money rebuilding. All at the expense at tax payers somewhere.

You got two down votes for saying "pretty easy to broker a peace deal" and you're surprised?

Don't trust Hamas to keep their end of the deal long term (or even short term), but if nothing else at least the 20 remaining living hostages got to go home after 2 years of hell.

Don't trust Israel to keep their end of the deal either, it's only a cease fire, it's not a peace deal.

Both Biden and Blinken are trying to claim credit for Turmp's peace deal.

Anyways, moving on, let pray that the peace deal sticks.

Wars are terrible and must be avoided by any cost. To many many lives lost. Really sad.

Here come the downvotes from those who wish that land was nothing but rubble and blood.

Who exactly is wishing that? My guess is nobody.

By undermining the peace deal and hostage release that's the assumption I'm led to. Feel free to explain other reasons that people are scoffing at this by default rather than being optimistic (without ranting about Trump).

What cuts me deep is all the dogs and cats suffering during the past two years.

I followed a dude on Instagram who was trying his best to look after some of these animals, mostly cats. He only was able to feed rice to them. Normally a cat will turn its nose up to rice but these cats, at least 50 of them ate rice in the same rapacious manner at which a donkey eats carrots.

I have a deep love for any cat and my heart is still broken. I can only hope that food gets in now for everyone, animals included.

I have deep feeling for animals also, but I can't compare that to the lives of humans lost on both sides that are not really combatants.

I don't think that you mean it this way, but there are those who believe that that all inhabitants of Gaza are lower than animals.  There are plenty of people who are born into that place that simply want to survive till the next day.  Sorry if that sounds preachy, I think that the post just reminded me of the folks who do their best to dehumanize the children and other non-combatants.

I really don't like Trump but he deserves credit for this regardless of his actual motives. But certainly there are people who fall into your categorization. There are also lots of people in Israel who would prefer this to continue, even if it means never getting the hostages back. I have seen them interviewed. They want Hamas totally eradicated and all Palestinians shoved into Egypt and Jordan.

The two warring parties were both backed into a corner, which is why this came about at this time.  For Israel, they were quickly losing support in the US. Especially among the next generation that will be running things here in a few years. Without our support, they are in big trouble in the Mideast and Netanyahu knows it. For Hamas, they are literally at their last stand in the North. They will now gladly give up 20 hostages to stay alive. It might have taken another year, but eventually they would all have been killed along with thousands of non combatants, which of course, Hamas doesn't give a shit about.

For any kind of lasting peace, this is the first step out of at least 10. Trump still deserves credit. No caveats.

Trump is all too aware of the shaky ground this peace deal stands on and was smart to implement it in go/no-go phases.   Time is on Trumps side.  Once and hopefully people get used to not having to dive from bomb crater to bomb crater just to cross the street, this peace thing just might catch on.  Trumps predictability in and at peace will help keep this moving along.  His unpredictability in the use of force, that's what will make sure it stays on course.

Trump said it took 3000 years  and he solved the war. He also said it would be forever.  Peace lasted 11 hours.  He is such a dumbass.  I voted for him 3 times.  I’m the dumbass now.

How do you figure it only lasted 11 hours? It's still holding the last I heard. The next phases depend on xamas, whether they live up to their end of the deal. That will be the major sticking point. I've only heard of xamas murdering Palestinians in the streets in broad daylight, accused of 'collaborating" with the Israelis. If you have heard different about the peace deal or cease fire (which-ever term you choose to use), not holding, please elaborate....

Of course this “peace deal” won’t last. It’s not a peace deal it’s a pause deal.

It doesn’t address the underlying issues. Israel wants Palestine and Islam to be nonexistent and Hamas wants Israel and Judaism to be nonexistent. And they both want Christianity to be nonexistent.

Israel is and clearly has been in the drivers seat for some time now. They’ve taken this particular offensive as far as it can for the moment. It’s 2 steps forward one step back. They will make further strides. Israel only came into existence in 1948 and they’ve roughly doubled in size since then through war, annexation and neocolonialist policies.

This isn’t over. This is a time out.

Hopefully these skirmishes die down and the ceasefire becomes more ‘permanent’. I’m still cautiously optimistic, but neither side is overly trustworthy on this sort of issue.
