Did anyone else see this? I was standing at the entrance to the woods section and there was a camera platform about 6 feet off the ground. In moto 3 RJ was totally out of control and slammed into the camera platform. Luckily there was a some padding on the front of the platform where he impacted it.
He hit it so hard that it knocked the camera over and also the camera man was on his ass.At this point RJ had enough and got back on the bike and rode to the pits. I talked to the camera man after the race and he had a big bruise on his face so you know RJ hit that platform really hard.
These guys are tough as nails and kudos to all the riders who suit up for this event.
You cannot say RJ didn't give his all. I'm proud of him.
This is where I was standing, you can see the platform on the left, he hit that thing a ton and thank god someone had the presence of mind to pad that platform or it could have been a lot worse.
So did he knock the whole stand down or just jostle it so hard that the camera hit the camera man in the face on its way to falling down?
one of these days (it's sad to say) we're going to have a fatality on the course due to all the shit they put around the track. This isn't a knock on any promoter in particular cause there's way too many "what ifs" to consider...but all it will take is one wrong hit to one of the random objects around the track, and i fear it will be tragic.

The stand stayed together but he definitely moved it. The camera man fell forwards and landed flat on his belly. The air cushions attached really saved RJ. He got up and didn’t even consider continuing afterwards. He just took the road back to the pits. Camera man got back to work immediately.
There's video on whiskey throttles socials, he slammed it hard and you can see coolant flying from smashing his radiator, justified in pulling off after seeing that.
Spot on milkman and to gimmiea2stroke, I am afraid you are right. The giant round hay bales were just covered in sponsor logos. That would be like hitting a wall if you smacked it. Sorry to say it will take a star being injured or killed before they take safety seriously. The guy in 28th wont matter at all.
I can think of lots of things to improve safety in SX and MX, some of it would cost money and some of it would just be where to put things.
Remember the boat Ricky hit?
Whiskey Throttle got it on film. Looks like may have broken his gas cap/tank?

If we open a new thread to signal every place where RJ crashed, that's gonna be some traffic jam...
Ricky still says he “almost” hit the boat.
Wow, his head impacted the top frame rail. Could have been much worse for RJ, especially if there was no padding.
The camera man was French and a really nice guy. We had at least three near misses this weekend with Jett over the flagger etc. It's time MX sports and Luongo get serious about this but I am not holding my breath.
I had a very close view of it! Luckily that big air bag helped slow him down. I was with Astars standing right there
Bad enough we can't get competent flaggers that knocked Glenn out for the weekend. I also saw Matty B was filming the roller section when Glenn crashed and he either edited the crash or the aftermath of the crash out of his video. Hmm 🤔
We stood here almost all weekend with a bunch of us. It sounded like a bomb went off and gas was pouring out of his bike. He wasn’t done but his bike had enough. We were looking the other direction at the time.
