Eli will be 33 next month and he just showed the kids he's 3rd best in the world today. Putting Eli's old age aside he's got 3 little ones to care for, which as some of you know is a huge burden and drains the hell out of you. Yet at his last race with Yamaha, he comes out fighting until the end and puts in an amazing podium finish as the Captain of team USA. Eli is a class act, he never makes excuses, and in fact he often takes full accountability. It's amazing to see him still fighting after all these years (Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha) and I can't wait to see what he does on a KTM to finish out his career.
Congrats Eli on your awesome performance today, Congrats Team USA, and congrats John and Kathy Tomac for raising such a living legend.
Are there any other 32yr of father of 3 guys who have performed at this level in the sport? I know Reed did well in his 30's with kids but I can't think of anyone else at the moment.
It’s definitely under appreciated how hard it would be with 3 young kids
The way that he and Kenny have raced each other clean for their entire careers is equally impressive. They've both earned the trust and respect that is only afforded to true champions.
It’s too bad how much moto is a ‘second is the first loser’ sport. Team USA did really well and they should be proud.
Not even CR22 was performing at this level in outdoors and SX. Eli is a legend. I’ll miss him when he retires. It’s going to be a sad day when he’s done.

So, when is the announcement for Eli’s next ride?
Eli is a legend, but I’m not ready for him to be done.
Yes, Moto 3 was for the books.
Eli is an all time badass motherfucker! If he’s on the grid, I’m rooting for him.
Class act
5 years ago his 4-2 could have been a 3-1 or better
Legend
Didn't fall once and kept his composure.
OP, well said!
Eli is in my top 3 all time. His wife must be an amazing person too, with them having 3 kids and he´s still able to be competitive and winning at 32. I think he´s smart, and it seems he´s got very good people and family around him. I hope he´s got a good 3-4 solid years in him, because I dread the day he retires.
What a great man he is.
Off the track, he is quiet, humble and holds himself accountable. He’s always just quietly done the work.
On the track, he is an absolute animal, you could see the effort he put in today. To be doing it this level at his age with 3 kids, it’s truly unbelievable.
I’m thankful we have him for a couple more years, and that he clearly wants to be here and feels he can continue to be competitive. I will be soaking up these next two years!
At the Washougal national this year, all of us VetMX guys were on the podium for pictures etc. on Friday after the amateur races were over. Eli was behind the podium and was giving autographs to the guys. I went back there to have him sign my military number bib, which he graciously did. As he was signing he looked at my face and saw my black/cut eye from my crash in my 40+ class and said, "What'd you do to that eye?" I told him I crashed in the corner we all "the last corner" (right past the mechanic's/pit area) because they had just watered it. He listened carefully while looking at my eye and said, "Well THAT'S not good!" and smiled at me. Totally cool and down to earth guy. Made my day.😁
itll be a sad day when hes gone, but i can see him sticking around for a LONG time. Think about it, a 2-3 year deal with KTM to battle for titiles. After that, hes the guy Triumph and Ducati need for development, he could easily get another 2-3 years of good money to ride in the 5-10 spots and help develop a motorcycle. Maybe it wont go that way, but it certainly could and id be happy with it
I'm looking forward to a new look for Eli on the KTM after years of what I call a drab and fugly black/blue Yamaha. His gear and getup will look much better on a Redbull KTM. Hopefully he gels with the KTM so he has a strong final stint on his way out the door.
