As a kid teenager growing up Trampas Parker seemed to be omnipresent on the GP scene. With his unusual name (which I thought was pretty cool at the time) long hair and erratic results he always seemed to stand slightly apart from other riders, and I don't just mean because he was American; the likes of Billy Liles, Donny Schmit and Bobby Moore were also over here at that time, but Parker always seemed a bit of an enigma, a quiet guy who was always there in the mix - even onboard an uncompetitive KTM!
He seemed to just disappear in the mid 90's and I have no idea what happened to him. Perhaps having raced in Europe for so long kept him out of Americans hearts and minds, but looking back I realise now what a significant player he was over here. Magazine photo's of his probably covered one or two of my school books at some point or other, but even with two world championships to his name I rarely hear his name mentioned anymore...he seems like the forgotten man in some respects.

The Italians probably have fond memories of him racing their national championship a few times, but I can't remember him racing in the US Nationals after finishing GP's...?
