I love it when people quote what is only applicable to their point. Alessi has ALWAYS tried to win practice. While most take it easy the first while and figure their lines out, Alessi tries to beat them to the checkered flag. Check out the next practice session times. You'll find Alessi's name to a much higher number. Also, check out his finish... 9th... in Australia.

That would make me not a pro. He wouldn't lap me twice in a 20 lap moto... I'm sure he'd lap me more than that. Read a thread before responding.

I've said over and over that he's fast and talented, but compared to OTHER PROS ON THE SUPERCROSS TRACK he's a squid.

so if you would be lapped more then twice by alessi what i want to know is what does that make you?

mike rode that event hurt after that fast practice and could not even grip the gas tank during the races and still managed a third place in the heat ,and top ten in the main .

it was bad luck like this thread says

mike has podium speed in australia and i am sure he will prove me right at the next round !

According to story in MotoOnline:

Oz SX: Alessi remains hopeful despite Super X bad luck

Californian Mike Alessi showed his best form of the season early in the night at last weekend’s Launceston round of the 2010 Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, but more bad luck and a groin injury spoiled his hopes of a top result in the main event.

Alessi, riding for the JDR Motorex KTM team in Australia, rode through the pain of a groin injury sustained in the Eliminator Challenge to take ninth overall, the world class American taking 9-7-9 results on the night in the main event – the final race determining the overall result.

“I definitely felt good in practice and was able to qualify in fifth,” the controversial 22-year-old commented. “I struggled really bad in the main event with bad starts, but that’s just the way it goes – if you get bad starts the races are short and you can’t make many passes.

“My bike was good and the team has been working well, but I injured my groin early on in the night so I had to tough it out, try to do the best that I could while riding in pain.”

The result moved Alessi up one position to 11th in the series, however he’s not giving up hope of a solid overall result just yet.

“We’re going to keep working, come back in New Zealand and be strong,” Alessi concluded.

Just because you had problems with you Dad, doesn't give you a right to judge Tony, most all of Mike's problems have been pure bad luck. You said some nice things about Mike and that was cool, but you have no right to judge Tony. I like Tony, don't make me come to your house and smash your puter.

Oh ya right on 89ac, good post.

You must be Mike Alessi. I already answered your question, too. It makes me not a pro. You need to practice reading just as bad as you need to practice whoops.

You need to practice being a decent human being.

Where are all the folks that get butt hurt over people saying anything negative about Pro riders? It's always open season in here on Mike and his family. If I ever see this dude at the track I'm giving him a wedgie.

I have learnt a lot from the Matthes podcasts and re-listened to the Goose interview recently.

Mike's greatest limitation as I see it, as discussed on the podcast, is his inability to set up a bike, to provide feedback to the team to tweak the thing to his advantage.

With so many great riders out there, and so many things being equal, it takes little to make a difference for the better or for the worse.

Some guys just don't know what works and what doesn't. This drags a great rider down at times. Some guys do know and rise above their abilities. Some guys get lucky with a great team or mechanic.

Mike Alessi will always try so damn hard, too hard arguably. He is certainly not a quitter. It's sad to see him having such a bad run with more than a fair measure of bad luck coming his way.

He needs a Goose or a DV in his world to teach him to ride the bike, not fight it.

Hey, it's one thing bashing unlucky Mike, it's another thing making disparaging remarks about the quality (or otherwise) of the Australasian Supercross Championship. We have feelings down here, you know.

You series is kickass. I'd love it if the AMA was more like yours. You have to admit the talent isn't quite on par with what's over in the states, but the racing is just as exciting. I'd love to make it to a couple of rounds.

Sweet... I'll be sure to wear my best undies for you. I didn't realize that thinking someone isn't the best in the world at something makes me less than a decent human being. Go figure...

Mike needs to start thinking seriously about how is going to pay his bills after motocross and SX. Another year like last year and he is toast. Maybe a B Team player for a few years, maybe not. Team budgets will dwindle even more in the years to come.

Hope he has all his earnings in some great investments.....
I concur.

Unfortunately.

Yep, the only talk about Alessi and SX should be about SuperX. AMA SX isnt happening. SX just isnt Mike's game. He needs to really figure himself out and get ready for Outdoors next year. The bike isnt the problem. He proved that at Hangtown and Southwick. I just think he isnt comfortable with the team he is on and things arent clicking. Wondering what will happen if he has another season like last year? He wont be getting offers from top teams and will want outdoor only again. I wouldnt be suprised if we will see him on a Honda again with Varner after this KTM deal is up.
