Uh, yes he did, at Assen, together with Wyatt Chase and Max Purvis. 10th in time practice, 7th in quali race, twice DNF during the races on Sunday. New Zealand got 19th.

3  - Lucas Coenen

From 6 to 10 = Haiden Deegan, Jo Shimoda, Ruben Fernandez, Kay De Wolf, Simon Laengenfelder, Antonio Cairoli, Ken Roczen, Sacha Coenen....

MX2+OPEN

1/2 - Hunter Lawrence or Eli Tomac
3 - Haiden Deegan

5/6 - Kay De Wolf - Simon Laengenfelder
7 - Calvin Vlaanderen
8 and over - Liam Everts, Sacha Coenen, Andrea Bonacorsi, Valentin Guillod, Pauls Jonass, Jan Pancar, Kyle Webster, Mikkel Haarup...

Whoever wants to win MXON might be the one to understand that moto 1 results does NOT care for 250, just ride quietly saving energy and observe the evolution of track, coming as fresh as possible in moto 2 and bang the best results possible (Haiden, Simon, Kay and Sacha all have the potential for a top 5 results there, top 10 for Kyle or Valin maybe). Lucas might be hungry to fight the best americans and might be the only one euro challenging for the lead (Gajser and Febvre will not be far but I don't see them right up front) if he rides with emotions. Speedwise, Jett and Chase are just faster on this track, Hunter rode very well also, and Tomac will also be there.

I think Shimoda will be a lucky guy if Japan makes it to Sunday. Even if they do make it they will have outside gates, so I don't see him breaking into top 10s on his first professional race on a 450.

Since 2006, 223 out of the 356 (62.4%) participations in MX2 categories had a results that was as good or better in MX2+OPEN than in MXGP+MX2, despite having racing an hour earlier. So saving energy for moto 2 IS A VALID STRATEGIC POINT. 😉

À bon entendeur...

Very interesting point.

We don't, we just guess, otherwise it would be boring if we knew everything in advance and nobody would watch. Nobody is Michel de Nostradamus (well, he was never a very precise predicator himself actually), therefore why I say it is my PERSONAL opinion at the begining of my post.

I try to base myself of what we've seen lately. Lucas is amazingly good (for his age), and rides a lot with his heart, while I do think that Romain or Tim (the 2 other top 450 euro participating) are elder, and maybe more strategic. The last 2 straight confrontation euros had with Jett, Hunter or Eli were 2023 and 2024 MXON. Both are european tracks were Tim and Romain had more experience and preparation for a fact. On both track, Jett seemed to be fastest so far, with a couple of issues that came along the way and that made Tim and Romain winning after crashes or bad starts from the Australian. Ernée, dry and tight euro type of circuit, Jett passed Tim, Romain, Ken, Aaron and Jeremy during qualifying. Came from last to 6th in moto 1 passing Tim as well, 7 seconds off of 3rd, he was still slower than Romain on his fastest who started at the front though, but was matching his pace over the last 7 laps. Moto 2, Jett start 4th, passing Prado in turn 2, Renaux in lap 1 and then Roczen, he was also 2 sec faster than Tim and 4 sec a lap faster than Romain (who was in cruising mode, but still...).

Matterley, euro playground again, for Jett qualfying and MX2+OPEN were the easy part with only Fernandez and Renaux as main 450 challengers, but only his bad start, his mistakes late into the race (after racing twice in 1h and 30 min, and passing Seewer, Febvre (again), Roczen, Herlings, Hunter, Prado and Tomac) and Gajser who had one of the best races of his career on the track he is usually the most efficient (look at his GP results there...) kept Jett from winning.

Hunter, on the 450, was quite slower than Tim and Prado in quali but still holding Febvre before the crash. Race 1 he got beat fair and square (bad start + stop for new goggles), but he hold off Herlings, while being ahead of Febvre also in moto 2.

For Tomac, only Jett and Tim were able to beat him there.

This time the US riders will have the advantage, knowing the track and texture, the evolution of it. We saw Jett, again, being super fast a few weeks ago, coming from mid pack to 3rd very quickly in moto 1 and from 7 to 1st in a lap or so in moto 2.

Chase was clearly the second fastest on that day, coming back very quickly from crashes at the beginning of both motos.

Finally we saw a super solid Hunter there, a touch sllower than the other two, but way ahead of most of the field.

All thoses datas together do not give us any results, but at least an idea of who will be fighting for the lead baring any surprise.

The official Instagrampage of the Dutch MXoN-team has asked its followers the question if Herlings should be / should've been on the team. Jesus Christ, what a bunch of f****** amateurs.

And what's the outcome?

I assume they are going to include Herlings to the team if that's what the people want, why else would you put up this question?! 🤡

Sterry reacted on the situation. He was ready, his team was ready, it didn't matter if he should've raced a 250 or a 450. It was no funding problem, he just didn't get selected.

I honestly can't understand Gilbert got the preference over Sterry. No disrespect to Gilbert. But what a shitshow this year. I think the ACU should take their responsibility and fire Mark Chamberlain, or otherwise Chamberlain should take his and resign himself. It's going from bad to worse with Team GB year after year.

Hey just wondering is Martin Barr still in after his crash at the VMXDN?

From what im told he still intends to ride. He had a ‘small’ surgery. The fact he is still in the team has caused a bit of a stir. Most feel young cole McCullough should replace him but the federation dont see eye to eye with Coles dad.

If it weren’t for Martin they wouldn’t be sending a team at all. Martin had to raise all the funds as well as find bike’s to be used and all of that. The Irish should allow Martin to race as long as he can. And he’s probably still the best on the team.

No one is denying he is the best when fit but he’s about 38 now & has just broke his leg requiring surgery. I also acknowledge that he is working hard to raise the money but you shouldn’t pick the rider who raises the most. It should be the best 3 riders you have.
Regardless it says a lot about the state of irish mx when our best rider is 38 years old. Race entries are maybe 25% of what they used to be.
I wish Cole McCullough raced some British championship rounds to show his speed at home.

If I had to choose between Barr and Edmonds to cut from the team to be able to put in a young promising rider (in this case McCullough), it would always be Edmonds. No disrespect for him, but in his previous 11 selections, he hasn't showed anything. Even Barr at 70-80% is a better choice.

But, on the other hand, McCullough was injured I think.

Cole had a broken Scaphoid mid season & took about 6 weeks off. He was already back riding again when the team selection was made. The federation never even contacted him & stated “we heard he was injured”. But they never checked in as to his status.

He's riding a KTM for Great Britain and a Kawasaki for NZ 😉

They will get subs…. Hopefully the riders will choose to go.  I like Eli on MX1, JCoop on MX2 and RJ on MX3.

All guys that love to represent.

Bummer. It always seems to be lastminute.com with their team selection.

J Coop would truly be the Ironman at Ironman if this happens. The ONLY guy to make all the races goes and does the extra race too. I’m here for it!

According to ML's post on another thread that's exactly the team that they discussed after the race.

Yeah, that’s a great take on it.  Every gate drop possible.  Kind of unheard of these days.

And he’s proven his value on the 250 at MXoN in the past.

Plus RJ in Open isn’t a bad thing either.  He’s proven much more consistent on the 450 and actually passes guys coming forward if he doesn’t get the top 5 start.
