You can tell Searle really doesn’t want to do it again from his vlogs, but he may be one of the last options and it’s not like he can’t put in a solid performance. Askew I think it’s too early for, so when his name was being thrown around it made me a little concerned but with both of them being on Triumph you would think this “British” brand would love their machines being ridden by members of the British team
Well, that's a bummer.
When I saw him as being on the Team, I was wondering what he'd be riding at the event - as I'd seen him in EMX250 on the Beta 2 stroke.
Whatever happened to the days of a rider taking his suspension in hand luggage on the plane and then bolting them up to a bike in that country, pretty sure Mitch Oldenburg or Benny Bloss aren't being picked so there's factory Betas available in the US.

....for me it's not so much how he can ride for team GB but why should he. He's a B class rider at best and an oik to boot.
Poking around a little it looks like he was born in GB and travels with a British passport

That's a bit strong Elliot, he scored points in SX, finished 5th in the Canadian triple crown while missing 2 rounds. He's as good as anyone in the UK at the minute on the 250. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned earlier in this thread that his mother is British.
Ok so that makes sense but hasn’t he rode for New Zealand in the past? Is he going because New Zealand isn’t? Who would’ve he rode for if New Zealand was going & GB asked him?
Strange choice imo.
Dean Wilson, Calvin Valaanderan both rode for two different countries. I imagine there is an element of cost in giving Walsh the spot on the team. He already has team connections in the US, so maybe cheaper getting bikes and equipment for him than some others.

Vlaanderen never raced the Nations for South Africa. He did race the worldchampionship under South African flag for a couple of years in his MX2 days.
Harri Kullas raced for Finland from 2008 to 2013 (he was born in Helsinki), since 2014 he races for Estonia.
Maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't USA want Chase in Open? Not disrespect to Eli, but Open races 2 races in a row, MXGP has a break, I'd think Chase would be better suited to 2 races in a row, and give Eli a breather.
Like previously said, he raced for NZ in the 2019 MXoN but didn't finish either race. I'm not keen on riders switching teams.

Well, Charlie Heyman has a full set up here, twisted development 250f, a full truck, so its not the cost. And honestly, I think hes better than Walsh. I have no clue why they picked him. Also, feel like Sterry should have been on the team as well. IMO hes been better than Gilbert and I know the Chambers team was ready to send him over.
Didn't Billy Liles ride for our team one year and Luxembourg at some point ? Trampas Parker rode for Italy one year but he was never on Team USA .
Sterry reacted on the situation. He was ready, his team was ready, it didn't matter if he should've raced a 250 or a 450. It was no funding problem, he just didn't get selected.
I honestly can't understand Gilbert got the preference over Sterry. No disrespect to Gilbert. But what a shitshow this year. I think the ACU should take their responsibility and fire Mark Chamberlain, or otherwise Chamberlain should take his and resign himself. It's going from bad to worse with Team GB year after year.
BTW until 2024, a rider holding dual citizenship could choose their sporting nationality at the start of the season and, in some cases, even change it mid-season. From 2025 onwards, when a rider selects their sporting nationality, this decision is final. Changing nationality will only be permitted in exceptional circumstances and always before the start of the season. It means that we won’t be able to have Harri Kullas on Team Finland (even if he would want) as his 2025 licence is under Estonian sporting nationality, which will remain until the end of his sporting career.
I’m a big Josh Gilbert fan(he did sleep on my couch for 6 weeks in 2022 😂), and sponsor the Chamber’s team, so to me it doesn’t matter which one they pick. But I agree, Sterry has been better and would be much much better than Walsh. I think it’s time Chamberlain is out.

Whoever wants to win MXON might be the one to understand that moto 1 results does NOT care for 250, just ride quietly saving energy and observe the evolution of track, coming as fresh as possible in moto 2 and bang the best results possible (Haiden, Simon, Kay and Sacha all have the potential for a top 5 results there, top 10 for Kyle or Valin maybe). Lucas might be hungry to fight the best americans and might be the only one euro challenging for the lead (Gajser and Febvre will not be far but I don't see them right up front) if he rides with emotions. Speedwise, Jett and Chase are just faster on this track, Hunter rode very well also, and Tomac will also be there.
He didn’t race for Nz one year Before 2019 , year after being named in the team , as he didn’t have a Nz passport at the times only a British one, and didn’t have time to sort one ,
Since 2006, 223 out of the 356 (62.4%) participations in MX2 categories had a results that was as good or better in MX2+OPEN than in MXGP+MX2, despite having racing an hour earlier. So saving energy for moto 2 IS A VALID STRATEGIC POINT. 😉
