I thought in previous weekends, picks were open till gate drop.
Today, nearly 2 hours before gate drop, picks are closed.
I am wondering if I missed something. Any ideas what is going on?
That's why they have a count down clock and emails for when it will close but you are right its usually closes right before the first qualifier.
It was set to coincide with the Wildcard races, which are basically LCQs.
It dawned on me after I saw the "wildcard" heat start. Doh!

I had my team picked early yesterday but the early lockout time doesn’t allow much time to make any changes. I started to change a few riders but was worried I wouldn’t have enough time to complete everything before lockout so I just left it alone.

I was bewildered they had Yoder (19th) 40,00 and Masterpool 20th 35,000...
I just picked the team I would have chosen if I had time to adjust. Gonna be interesting to compare them after the race to see if I would have done better or worse. I don’t care much about standings because I jumped in midseason.

Normal routine deadline time to pick screwed me up too.

Well my experiment is complete. The team I locked scored 137. The team I “made” after lockout an hour before the race I scored 160. So I would have done 17% better if I had made the changes I wanted to make.
In case you’re wondering. Yes. I am a nerd.
