Heading to North 40 near Dallas this weekend for AHRMA Vintage and Post Vintage races. Got both kids hooked up to ride as well. Youngest just turned 16, so he just became eligible to participate in AHRMA events. Very corny rule to say the least, no kid classes whatsoever. He'll be tearing it up on a 74 CR125. Oldest son on a 80 CR125 and if my last six months of red meat and beer diet works out as planned I'll be on a 74 CR250 and 81 YZ250.

AHRMA is fun. I did a race a couple of years ago in Surprise, AZ at Speedworld. However, they are particular people. The Sunday I was there, they announced the supercross results over the PA and people boooed. I later found out because supercross has "modern" bikes. Yeah, the 16 year old minimum rule is weird too. Good luck.

Great pic! lol Had a couple photo ops like that this weekend. That's what happens when a slow old guy lets his 16 year old high revving kid loose on his bike. I even fattened up the main a notch before sending him out. Should have gone up two, he cooked it heading to the front. He was looking pretty good though. Had a 30 year old ignition coil go south on the 80 CR125 and ate a lower rod bearing in an old 74 CR125 bottom end. The cook outs, campfires and mop bucket margaritas at the Team Bull-taco compound were epic though. Fun weekend.

I have a question. Just how many bikes do you own personally.
Honestly, I have no idea. Would have to go count! Too damn many would be the best answer. Some days they keep me sane, other days I'd sell them all. But then I'd have to start all over!

I've come to realize that these bikes weren't real reliable 30-35 years ago. And it doesn't matter how much TLC you pu into them, they still aren't too reliable! About that Aberg, I do have the makings of a 640cc TT500 engine in the garage. Custom built sleeve and custom Arias piston! Maybe one day.Smile

Newmann.....I want a big bore YZ from that era of Yamaha's......What year is that bike in the pic and do you have and recommendations on the best big bore yz around that time frame....They were 465's I believe.

Oh and what did you say in your last comment .....you have a 4 stroke engine in your garage?!?!?!?! The TT500's from 77-79 were really cool bikes...maybe a litle nostalgic sine my dad used to put me on the tank when I was 3 and take me for a ride.... a safe ride that is!

I would bet that CampP will be there racing a old CR 250. Look him up, he is one hell of a nice guy, and one fast mofo.

If you don't know his name, PM me and I will give it to you.

The 81 YZ465 is the one to have then. Last year for the monoshock before linkage. I picked this one up a couple years ago from the grandson of the original owner. He got it from the grandfathers estate and couldn't get it started(thankfully). It had been sitting since probably 1981, looked like maybe 5 hours total time on the bike. Rear fender had been stitched back together with zip ties, bars were bent and the levers broken off. Easy to tell what happened right before it was parked never to be ridden again! I cleaned it up and put on a few new things to get it back together and running. Haven't really ridden it, not sure what I'm going to do with it at this point.

Even have the matching pit bike, 81 YZ60.

Well, in my defense, it was given to me. Can't pass up the occasional freebie!

They don't allow kids because they always lay wood to the old guys. When they first came out with that big ARMA national at Swan I won the Evo pro class on a borrowed stock 78 CR250, the next year they changed the minimum age limit for all money classes to 30.

I raced that bike and the next years 490. Fun, but almost lethal timesGrinning Funny the last thing it did was loop out before you bought it. Did that on a start or two as well.
