I like Short, but I think the KTM isn't going to do his career any justice. No way that bike is going to be as good as a factory honda... Hope he proves me wrong. He didn't look comfy on it to me like everyone else was saying.

why all this trash talk about the bike... i think factory KTM know how to make the most out of this 350 and Andrew Short have a great team in his back!! some people just can´t stop talk shit about ktm... and he have the option to ride the 450!! Interesting ....

I think people truly under estimate KTM...

To me the 350 or 450 ktm just feel so awkward... I have only sat on the 350 though, haven't rode one. Just sitting on the thing, it feels like a dual purpose bike. Plus the tank is very wide for some reason. I don't have anything against ktm, I've just never rode one that felt good. They are some of the trickest looking bikes on the market though! Also, Reed's tweet about the 350... Sounded like he was nicely trying to say that it sucked. It's not just a ktm thing to me, hell I can't stand the way the new yamahas feel either.

He does look pretty comfortable for barely having any time on the bike IMO. I think the change may be enough to light a fire in him to get some more speed. To be honest, I think he's going to need it to maintain his "consistent top 5 guy" status if the 450 class is as stacked as it's looking to be. I'm a Shorty fan, hoping he adjusts well and helps KTM attain some more market share. I think KTM made a great decision hiring him.

If it was 20 pounds lighter and handled like a125 it might be competetive, but it still wouldn't be able to tie the rhythm sections together without the power of a 450, and good luck passing on the inside!.

Well do you think he will be jumping the same sections as the other 450's there are alot of times where only the top few guys are jumping a certain section and barely making it!, like i said if it were 20 pounds lighter and handled like a 125 it would help level the playing field but hell if it weighs the same with less power, screw that!

Uhm... yes. Either it's only one or two guys doing a different rhythm in the 450 class or everybody's doing it. There's never been a "top 10 guy rhythm section." He will clear everything just fine.

It may have a few ft lbs less torque, but that'll only be really noticeable off the start I'm guessing.

do you take into account at any point the fact that the 350 still feels lighter than a 450? Making it able to corner easier and switch direction easier?

funny how 250f's take up half of the fastest overall lap times in sx............in one last year 15 out of 25 were 250f's...........350 could be better than a 450 for sx, easier to throw around and brake........i think a 350 or 250f will hug an inside line better than a 450.........look at JG33 in the x-games a few years ago on his honda 250, he smoked a ton of 450's and holeshotted a few.........on that hardpack sx surface i think a 450 is too much to apply all of its power w/o spinning...............we shall see!

Very true. Shorty already said the mass centralization on the 350 is much different than his Honda was, time will tell if thats a trait he likes or has trouble adapting to.
One thing is certain, Andrew will bust his ass and not make excuses.

I don't know if there is a better person to debut the 350 in SX than Andrew for that simple fact.
