Brand new 2006. Takes me back to some nickleback on the radio, no smart phones, no apps, and no problems!
I’m going to race this thing next month at southwick vet race.

such great bikes, one of my all time favorites. That carb would be questionable though if it has had fuel in it but never ridden. Those carbs work good when they are clean but get a little shit in them and they can be a real pain in the ass, very complex system as far as carbs go
Hopefully it’ll light up nicely haven’t tried it yet but you’re right it could be a nightmare
Looks like it has stock tires too, i would swap them out. At 20 years old i bet the knobs will be torn off after one moto. Where did you find something like that? Looks like it belongs in a museum, crazy its the special edition too. What a damn good find
It was posted on Facebook for sale pages.
I was planning to swap the tires just because I like the tires I’m used to so that’s fine.
Man you have me thinking maybe just repost it.
Could be sad to ride something like this.

Nickelback on the radio and no problems are contradictory.
I’m gonna play photograph right now, just for you 👌
Personally id hang that thing on a wall in my shop. I know "its just a yz450" but how many unridden anniversary 06's do you think are left in this world? Some day some guy is going to look at this the way we look at 88 cr500's!
You’re defintly not wrong could be the last one honestly.
I had one new….had to have the yellow version👍first year was great bike….2nd year…..not so much… I kept bikes for 2 years, no hr meter back then…so it could have had over 100hrs …. transmission exploded… gears on national back order…then the Ti shock spring snapped, taking out the shock shaft with it….then the oil pump failed, killing the top end and cases..….most expensive bike I ever owned….Ran back to a new YZ250 2t to finish out the season…..your experience may be different….
They’re generally known as very reliable. But dang that’s some bad luck.
I liked it overall, great suspension, but it did not turn well no matter what setup i tried. Most corners were a "turn, front-end push, turn, front-end push" affair. Mellow engine. It's amazing bikes like this are lurking out there!
I had the 250f of this gen and the hot tips were, 22mm clamps, and keep the axle slammed forward in the chain adjusters.
If you got halfway or further on the adjusters it pushed badly.
Pretty wild how sensitive they were, even a goon like me eventually noticed it and figured it out I had them for like 6 years I had 3 250fs from that gen kept going back to them.
Never had the 450 though I’m assuming the same would apply.
Yes, I believe most were very reliable…I had just come off 4 years of YZ250fs that were super reliable…I figured the 450 would be also….My maintenance schedule was good but I did put many whooped out sand track hrs on the bike, when the trans broke it was in a section of whoops…That was last YZ450 I ever owned 😂
I had the 250 and 450 in 06. The 250 must of been a lemon it broke every single ride until I got rid of it with probably 2 hours on it. The 450 was my favorite bike. I had a honda 450 before and this thing was night and day better to me. Not sure what it is but I still think I liked my 06 450 better than any other 450 I've had.
Loved my 06 YZ450. Nice power delivery, cornered good, suspension was great.
Put over 200 hours on it and never had to look in the engine, even the clutch was original.
Cool thread! I loved my 06 250f and 450.
I'm getting ready to buy my dad's 06. It's still mint. I rode/raced it a bit before getting my own 450. He's 78 now and no longer can ride. It was the last bike he bought and raced at 60 years old. That generation is still one of my favorites.
Now that’s epic.
I remember when I bought my 06 250F anniversary new, I got a discount because no one would want the ugly yellow one 🤣
Pit Row
Had one too. Loved it.
Wait, people playing nickelback isn't ironic?
We are cooked.
Even though I broke my femur on one, they were one sweet bike!
Great bike until you have to corner........... LOL
That was a great era for SX/MX, lots of good memories from then. Back when multiple riders could win any weekend, very competitive.
I can’t corner anyway!
02-08 is my favorite era for sure. I think the bikes and everything peaked.
amazing! I had a brand new never titled 06 50th R1 I sold when the scamdemic started and of course sold for what was peanuts along with all my toys. Personally id keep that one as is.
Yup, it would be a crime to ride it, and what would the point be? As soon as you scratch it, there goes some value and ALL the novelty. It would just be an extremely nice USED bike at that point.
I had an 08 450 raced it for 3 seasons great bike never let me down
My 06 cornered better than any 450 I had. It also felt a lot lighter and smaller. Maybe my memory is just bad. I loved that bike.
No real novelty. I like the bikes and I don’t like used boogered up bikes. Still way cheaper than a new bike. And it will be fun to have a old hot rod 450.
